You know, I actually believe you on this one. But does she have the cowl, to go with her power-mechanized 'full 360 degrees motion' anal-bead strap-on? (There's always a strap-on.)

WATCH OUT!: Rapeman (1993)
Written by Arya Ponto
Thursday, 06 December 2007

Rapeman is either the strangest superhero movie I’ve ever seen or the greatest porno ever made. Imagine, if you will, a Batman who as opposed to beating up thugs, rapes helpless women instead. For money. And yes, he’s a hero.

Originally a poorly-received hentai comic featuring a Japanese superhero who is naked from the waist down and wears a penis helmet, it was turned into a feature-length black comedy that spawned six successful sequels. I have only seen the first of the Rapeman movies, but if the other six can sustain the sheer madness I saw in Rapeman, then there is always room for more rape in my life.

This is the premise: mild-mannered high school teacher Keisuke doubles at night as a masked avenger who hires himself out to people seeking revenge on certain ladies. This might sound like an awful thing for a superhero to do, but he has three great moral compass: 1) He requires his clients to provide a good motive for the rape, since Rapeman would only rape women who had it coming (like, say, a cheating wife). 2) He donates most of his earnings to a struggling orphanage, where he grew up. 3) All of his victims seem to enjoy the sex, lusting for more after the assault is over.

In the plot of the first movie, a yakuza wench tricks Keisuke into raping a political candidate’s wife, creating a scandal to affect an upcoming election. Not only is Rapeman now linked to the yakuza, but he also has to overcome the guilt of raping an innocent woman. What you’ll find most surprising when watching Rapeman is that the story is legitimately entertaining. With its conspiracy plot, the film could’ve been a small, passable comedy-thriller even without the addition of a costumed rapist. Though of course, it’s just that very thing that makes Rapeman unique. You try making this movie in America without some organization raising a stink. It is pretty impressive though to see somebody creative enough to concoct a story where the hero basically destroys a yakuza clan and bring down a dirty politician by dragging their women into a dark room, chaining them to a chair and stick it where it belongs.

Even the directing and the acting are a lot of fun, with some truly funny scenes. Hiroyuki Okita has the charm to pull off the dual role of bumbling goof Keisuke and the menacing sex machine Rapeman. He makes you want to root for him big time—Necessary, given his gimmick. Looking very polished and professional, the film has the right feel of an edgy superhero movie. Only in this one, a heartfelt moment between the hero and his wise elderly uncle doesn’t revolve around great responsibility, but rather their motto “Righting wrongs through penetration” and inspirational speeches like “Keep your penis strong!”

Rapeman doesn’t have an official release in the US yet (and I doubt it ever will, but you never know with some of these smaller foreign movie distributors), so it might be a little hard to track down—and this is, of course, assuming that you are perfectly fine with the idea of hunting for a movie called Rapeman—but imported (and subtitled) VHS copies are available. If you live in the Bay Area, Le Video is where you want to go.Click

I can't be the only one who thinks Rape Man sounds like an entertaining popcorn film?

Not sure about actually buying it though. I'll wait until it comes onto BBC 1.

There's nothing to ignore, Mock - the very simple and obvious facts have already been outlined to you:

Fact: Rapes in Japan are no more underreported than they are in Canada, or the US where this type of pornography has higher restrictions.

Fact: As Japan's population grows, rapes are decreasing.

Fact: As this type of pornography and fantasy anime becomes more readily available and mainstream, rapes are decreasing.

Fact: According to this link, a woman is far more likely to be raped in 53 other countries than Japan - including Canada, USA, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Germany and Iceland.

All you have is a proposed hypothesis based on some fucked-up notion you have that sexual awareness and sexual propaganda turns people into criminals.

I don't know....

This whole thing, sort of weirds me out. Like that video that Mock posted of the man swinging the baby. I watched it, having seen some of the same sort of thing before in reality, I assumed it was real and I was interested.
I remember, a gymnastics coach, doing somewhat of the same thing, with his own child. That child was not harmed, and has no fear now at more than likely 30 or 40 some years of age.
Trapeze artists...when do you think they start? One month, one year? They have to start somewhere....
But now, the man that posted that video is under arrest. If I had downloaded it? Would I be under suspition of child abuse also?
I post, asking a question about hangover cures, and I'm the drunk?
I sort of have to chuckle at that. I do tend to exagerate, online, and many times in the past, when I was signing off line, was presumed to have been ready to commit suidcide.
I was signing offline, for god's sake, nothing more serious than that. So now, I watch a video called 'rape man'...
It's on my computer. I must be a rapist. 1941, here we come....

There was no definitive relationship established in the paper - instead the author discovered a 'temporal correlation'. It's a meaningless term, which only manages to establish that two statistical trends are running parallel to one and other in a given time period.

Also, you can't compare non-existent data between two uniquely different cultures, neither can you predict the sociocultural ramifications of the introduction of this type of pornographic material to North-America.

Anyway, I never said that this material would 'create' paedophiles, I mentioned that it would skew the normative values of juveniles, allowing for a climate of tolerance and experimentation. And that it would be ideal grooming material. But foremost, that the material is unsuitable because it would filter through to a subculture consisting mainly out of pre-pubescents, pubescents and post-pubescents.

Also, paedophiles are in an entirely different category than 'rapists in general'. Were a paedophile to consummate his sexual desires (intercourse with a child) it would constitute rape, ipso facto. It doesn't even require coercion or violence, just the act itself.

You're talking in circles - you maintain that this will lead to a tolerance of sexual relationships between adults and children, because it will "groom" children, yet you're claiming it doesn't create paedophiles?

Just...paedophiliac behaviour?

You're not making sense, it's like you're blustering "But, but, but!" because you feel this type of porn HAS to be bad...despite any proof that it actually is.

And yes, you can claim it's a mere correlation between decreased rapes and increased pornography, but we both know that had rapes in Japan increased with this type of anime becoming more available, you'd be squealing it was the cause.

So don't even bother me with that type of bullshit.

Oh, but you're allowed to predict what will happen in Japan? Interesting. I thought the whole entire purpose of this debate was to predict either rammifications, or lack thereof, regarding the allowance of this type of anime in society.

Irony would have it that generic rapists aren't the central issue here, and as such, the question would arise why on earth you would have this incessant need to cackle like a toothless crone on tangential subject material? Perhaps it would be more digestible if I were to present my arguments with a modest amount of dental torture? You know, to keep you focused.

Food for thought:

- National age of consent in Japan is 13, debarring local provisions, which tend to raise the age of consent to within a range of 14 - 17.
- Enjo Kosai is a Japanese social practice. Definition: "The most common connotation is that it is a form of child prostitution whereby participating girls sell their bodies in exchange for designer goods or money."
- Rape & child abuse are already underreported in Japan.
- "Moreover, as of 1998, Japan was the source of 80 percent of the commercial child pornography available on the Internet[8]. Actually, it was not until 1999 that Japan joined the international community in banning child pornography, not out of moral concern, but more so because of the bad publicity the country was receiving[6]." - Source: same wikipedia article. Note: not strictly animated child pornography.

What allowances I've made were for the professional opinions of qualified individuals, research analysts, news reporters citing expert opinion, etc. These professionals wouldn't glibly ignore the strident cultural disparities between two countries. Or make unfounded statements regarding comparative estimates of unreported data. Both estimates are already subject of intense debate and discussion within their respective countries.

Oh, how selective you are!

From your very own cited article:

Quote:

A common misconception is that enjo-k¨sai always involves some form of sexual activity. The term enjo-k¨sai first appeared in the Asahi Shimbun on September 20, 1994. In the opposite case of women paying men, it is called gyaku-enjo-k¨sai (ÄæÔ®Öú½»ëH, gyaku-enjo-k¨sai?), or "wakari."

Wait - what does that say? WOMEN DO IT TOO???? And it's a common misconception that it always involves some form of sexual activity?

Quote:

It's underreported everywhere. Don't you get that? And despite being underreported, Japan's numbers aren't higher than anyone else's - in fact, they are pretty average. Underreporting taken into account and everything.

Oh, and they're dropping.

You do realize that these people find opinions to suit their story, right? News reporters are infamous for finding "experts" to back a story - look at Nancy Grace, as an example.

I prefer hard facts - numbers, statistics. Opinions...just don't do it for me.

Just playing devil's advocate here, okay? Forget about statistics.
As far as the topic goes, live and let live. It's a comic. Somebody drew it, from images in their mind.
You have to wonder though, where did these images come from?
Call me a racist, but I think Japanese people, that have been raised in the culture?
They are WEIRD ! The men, it appears they love little girls, and their comics reflect this. From what I've read online, and in novels over the years...?
Even their grown women know this, and the marraige and birth rates for their country reflect it.
