Nooooo I'm not going anywhere. That's how they get you.

You work in a group home setting don't you? Or was that an older job? I worked with 'mentally challenged" people when i was younger but I wasn't very good at it. I ended up throwing one woman's hat out the window of a moving bus. She was shrieking in my ear for the whole ride. I told her to stop, she didn't. So punishment had to be exacted. I'd like to think she learned a valuable lesson that day, but probably not. She's retarded.

Yes, because multi-million dollar payouts for a spilled cup of coffee is the preferred alternative.

Actually it was a million, if you've seen the picture of the injury you wouldn't find it that outrageous. The injured woman offered to settle with McDonald's beforehand for under $100,000 which would barely cover her medical bills but they refused. The judge reduced the jury's award to approximately $450,000. Another part of the consideration was that McDonald's purposely overheated their coffee to hide its crappy flavor. And now McDonald's inceased the quality of their coffee and maintains it at a reasonable temperature. Anymore platitudes Mock?

Did you see the picture(s) of the injuries?

Um, when I make coffee in the morning, its really hot and could burn me very easily.

In fact, I have burnt myself before.

Should I sue myself?

Oh wait, I know.

I could stop being an idiot and be careful with a HOT cup of coffee.

Extra careful as it will cost you the rest of your life to pay for any medical treatment. Over here in Britain, where hospital care is free, we are known to douse each other in boiling liquids, just for the excitement. :D

I only agree with the first sentence of the PETA slogan. Eating a live lobster just sounds like hard work.

Not a group home, no. Every other weekend I'm an "independent life coach" for two mentally disabled men. I do their financial budgets, steer them in the right way in terms of nutritional choices, and ensure they keep their house in good, clean condition.

In theory, it should be good, but one of them is a spoiled, rich brat who doesn't actually want to live independently, but his parents fund a fuckload of money into the program. So every weekend I work is spent arguing with him, making him do his chores properly, or living out a consequence of the week, ie. if he was fucking off at his job, then I don't allow him to spend any money or go anywhere on the weekend because he has to live like he got fired. The other one is ok, he just gets a little moody sometimes and whines for hours about things. He can't read, but he doesn't know that I know that, so he pretends to read. So I can give him a little book, and keep him busy for 1/2 hour because he'll pretend to read it.

Some weekends I hate it so much I cry. Other weekends, it's manageable.

I definetely believe in genetic testing and prenatal testing now. And I have to admit, I hated Sarah Palin for knowingly bringing in a baby with down's syndrome into the world just because she has a thing against abortion.

"His medical insurers agreed to settle the case on the basis of 85 per cent liability, and the family was awarded a six-figure compensation sum. This money is being held in a court trust fund to provide for Lydia's needs, including prosthetic legs. Her first pair were provided by the NHS. "

Right, and all it includes is a compensatory award, for past and future medical bills. And she or her parents don't even get the money. It's held in a trust for them to go beg for whenever she has a bill. In the US a case like this would be worth several million as it would carry punitive damages, pain and suffering, and loss of consortium for the parents. "Oh good, you mean you'll pay for her fake legs in the future after we beg for it? God bless you merry gentlemen." If an attorney in the US accepted this as a settlement it would be considered blatant malpractice, and then they would get sued for the millions. Go on and brag about how the rest of the world values the enjoyment of life much less than Americans. Hell, I would if I had to live elsewhere.

Actually, Lydia's needs would include modifications to her parents' house, travel expenses, and care expenses - which her parents would receive, in the form of employment payment. And it's damn good it's in a trust for her - too many irresponsible parents would blow it all on themselves. This money will have to last Lydia for a lifetime. There's no reason her parents should be given a lump sum.

As for pain and suffering, that's something the US made up to explain away greed and unnecessary damages sought after in court. It cannot be quantified, therefore paying for it is ridiculous.

Getting money you're entitled to in a fair and responsible way isn't called "begging". These mass exaggerations do nothing but embarrass the legal system.

So basically you have 3 husbands.

Ha!! Score one for the ladies!

So how often do they try to grope you or flash their junk? My experience is that them mentally diabled are horny fuckers.

Never - one has the mentally of an 8 year old, so he's never developed sexual feelings towards anyone or anything. He's obsessed with video games and puzzles, neither of which he has the mental capacity to finish. The other one does have sexual urges, but he's been so traumatized by his mother screaming at him that he'll go to jail that he only checks tits out on women ever so often.

He had problems when I first got there, raging erections and such, but now he's gotten used to me just being staff. Thankfully, they are semi-functional, and I rarely have to touch them. I only help the one shave, and help brush their teeth and floss.

I've gagged quite a few times when I'm over there - one sneezed on me at supper, and I had to leave the table. Another time, his toothbrush broke while I was brushing his teeth, and he spit toothpaste and saliva on my face - I gagged and had a few dry heaves. Most often it's ok.

I have trouble watching them eat, though. I usually eat before I go, and have a few snacks throughout the days, avoiding sitting down for meal times.

Not at all - it was really gross. Like, are you flattered when you see monkeys masturbating at the zoo?
