Space marines are the great protectors of humanity and their existence has no other meaning but to serve their emperor. With the help of genetic implants they possess super strength, agility, and stamina. With these abilities, they could protect the humanities from the invasions of different races such as orks. ![]() The gene-seed also allowed space marines to live for over centuries. Although majority of the space marines face honourable death in battle, some do live until their body reaches the limit. Then, their body gets connected with mechanics and serve as dreadnoughts. We often ask amongst ourself, what is a person? Being a person entails physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual traits. Physically, space marines are very different from ordinary people living on Earth. Their bodies are genetically modified to be suited in the war against intruders. They does not age as fast as other human beings. They have no emotion and they are cold blooded marksmen. They follow the orders and act accordingly. Another question could be asked, do soldiers have emotion? A person must carry three qualities, intelligence, self-awareness, and consciousness to be referred as a person. Space marines are self-aware, intelligent, and conscious. Their intelligence is rather superior to ordinary human beings. What is a person? It appears that when human beings are genetically modified or mechanically enchanted, they loose their physical form as a person. However, there are numerous cases where a human being will not be considered a person. For example, victims of explosion or accidents would have parts of their body replaced by machines, also known as prosthetics. If their whole body is replaced with mechanics just like dreadnoughts, are they still considered as a person? ![]() The way androids process through programs are similar to how human brain works; Electrical signals form chains. If the computer programs advance further just like in Warhammer 40K, what is a person? Edited by Scott, Jun 16 2012, 10:11 PM.
