All grown up; What's changed?

Maybe it's just me, but since I was a middle-schooler back in the days I visited PA, my views and philosophies have changed a bit. Not just have they changed about the things that I used to think about, but now there are so many more things to consider concerning morality. My thoughts on things like religion, politics, the death penalty, evolution, and homosexuality have changed, plus I've got new considerations, things that I never really felt the need to think about before, like premarital sex and underage drinking. So now I'm wondering: How have all of your philosophies been affected over the last six years? Is there anything that you look back on and kinda just think, "I can't believe I used to feel that way."

...Or maybe I'm the only one who's changed their philosophy? XD

But I'm sure that there are at least things that you feel more strongly about now that you used to, or maybe things that you felt more strongly about before. What are they?

My "philosophy" hasn't really changed since I was young. I still value the same concepts, but I think I've become a lot more existential. Before, I would say, "This is how things should be." Rather then doing that, I spend more time doing what I think should ought to be done and asking little of the people around me. I think my next big development would be in a way that involves social community. While I'm shuttling around the social spheres of my ideals, I have yet to become a dedicated member of anything.

Was there a particular topic you wanted to talk about?

Not really, but one of the things that stuck out to me about PA were the philosophical discussions we had, so I was wondering if anyone had changed much. I guess I've started thinking a lot about people? I like to hear about what they believe and why and everything :p

If you want to have more of these discussions, I can post a particular topic tomorrow or some other time, and see what other people think about them. It'd be neat to get the ol' philosophical ball rolling. It is -- technically -- my major. :P

I wouldn't really say my "philosophy" or stances on most serious issues has changed; I don't think I'd actually formed any real opinions back then as I was only around 12/13 years old. That said, however, my views on things like religion have changed completely.

When you grow up and discover the joys of a job and bills and such, that's when you really start to form strong opinions on things. This is when most things start to matter to a much greater extent. It's at least what happened with me, a big wake up call.

I'm currently living in a big city on my own, commutting to school, and working. I don't feel anymore or less awake than I was. But I suppose I'm a little more focused than I was.

I feel like the main thing that's changed the way I think is the company I keep, really. They've kind of provided me with different perspectives than the ones I grew up with. But I will say that having to work and do school a lot has really shifted my priorities from what they once were.

Ninny, you're a philosophy major? That totally makes sense, that's awesome! :D

Oh, I think I'm way more lax. I'm not concerned with religion at all really -- I'm not religious, but to say I'm an atheist implies too much as well. I just don't participate in it at all, in the same way that I don't DISLIKE football, but I also just don't watch sports at all. I guess my overall philosophy is to just be decent to others, and to let people do as they wish as long as they're not harming others.
