Troy sat there at the edge of the pier, blankly staring out at the water. His butler Barnaby was watching him from the shore line. Troy was changed ever since his parents were killed, he never looked at anything with enthusiasm anymore, aside from the redheaded girl. Troy's mind was almost always blank, but for some reason always made a reason to come to the pier every morning. Barnaby didn't know the reason, neither did Troy, it may have something to do with being alone, but the boy never uttered more than a couple words to anyone any more. Troy rarely went to school anymore, who would blame him, Barnaby tries to home school him, but Troy never responds to anything he says. It was like the boy had no life anymore, he was just merely existing.

Eirwyn felt sorry for the poor boy, lost and all alone in a world that no one would have ever expected. She was glad that he at least had her, someone who he could open up to and express his feelings over being turned. There was nothing worse in the world than being thrust into the world of the werewolf without a clue, it was why she supported the ritual; no one was alone when you went in willingly, it was safer and you had so much guidance. It was said this poor boy had been turned by mistake.

The healer passed by Barnaby, patting him on the shoulder with a smile, “Take a break, I’ll watch him,” she told the butler, then advanced up the pier to settle down abruptly next to Troy, “hello Tory, how’re you today?” Eirwyn fought back a frown. He looks so lost...

Troy didn't even hear Eirwyn come up and sit by him, the ears who could hear almost every conversation in the Eceni territory, a useless perk for a person who didn't care about anything.

“hello Troy, how’re you today?”

Troy look at her with his blank look, it took him a few seconds to realize who it was. He seen the long red hair and icy eyes that he adored so much. "Eir....Eirwyn?" He stuttered. Troys eyes blinked and shot open with colour, his face transformed into a smile. "Sorry I...I didn't hear you coming." He pushed his hair out of his eyes and behind his ears. "I am feeling great today!' He lied so obviously. "How are you Eirwyn? Are you going to make anymore of your delicious cakes today?" Troy loved those cakes, the only food he really tasted anymore.

What was so sad was how it was so painfully obvious that he was lying through his teeth. But Eirwyn was patient, she would take her time in helping him to become more open and more honest with her. She smiled at him, “I’m very well thank you, Troy, and of course,” she chuckled, “I never stop. The current batch is fresh out the ovens, I brought some for you.”

She pulled out a box from her bag, containing four beautifully decorated cupcakes with green icing and blue stars, “For you,” Eirwyn smiled, “they’re still warm.” She handed them over to him and leaned back on her hands, looking out across the sea. “The full moon is soon,” She reminded him, “be careful.”

Troy gleefully took the box of cakes and immediately began eating one. "Delicious as always, Thanks Eirwyn." He was happily eating the cakes while looking out over the water.

“The full moon is soon, be careful.”

Troy's face went grim, the whole werewolf think would have been cool to his past self, but he didn't really care much now for it. He set the box down. His eyes went blank again, the full moon only reminded him his parents died less the two months ago. He looked at his hand, and watched the blood trickle down his index finger while a sharp piece of bone came out the tip. "It doesn't matter what happens on the night of the full moon, its not like i have much of a choice. if i'm lucky i might be taken from this world."

"It doesn't matter what happens on the night of the full moon, its not like i have much of a choice. if i'm lucky i might be taken from this world."

Eirwyn sighed heavily, “You know Troy, with what you have, the money your family left and the education you could receive… You could do such great things.” She looked at him, “being a lycan isn’t so bad,” She placed her hand over his, covering the bone and blood, not scared to get it over her own fingers, “you shouldn’t do that here sweet heart.” Eirwyn warned softly.

Her eyes cast out again across the water, “You could be great Troy, you have all the tools at your disposal. Fate may have brought you this gift to help you, not hinder you.”

Troy closed his eyes and reformed his finger. He wasn't sure how to respond, he couldn't care less about the money, and becoming a Lycan felt like a curse to him.

“You could be great Troy, you have all the tools at your disposal. Fate may have brought you this gift to help you, not hinder you.”

What could make him so great he wondered. "If having this gift-" He put a lot of disgust into the word gift. "meant losing my parents..." He trailed off not really wanting to say more. "When is the next full moon?" He sighed. "I spose if i'm going to be... great... then I'll need to see the ritual, I need to be protected by the rest of the pack." Troy grimaced at the thought of being around more people, but he didn't want Eirwyn to feel bad, so he will humour her for a little while. "You know that i'm not very strong at all... in either form."

Eirwyn frowned, she understood his pain, she really did, but it was so hard. If only she could make him see that the world around them wasn't such a bad place - or at least, it wasn't so different as he may have thought. She was pleased when he expressed interest in the ritual, "They'd be pleased to know that. You'd be welcome to the Ritual, I'll take you. If you wanted you could take part? But of course, you don't have to if you don't want too." She thought that maybe he'd be able to see then how people wanted to become like them, going through the ritual to become Eceni lycans.

She sighed, "It's not about strength," she nudged him playfully, "the pack doesn't run on brawn alone, you need the brain behind it too." He was a bright kid, he had a chance.

Troy grimaced, he wasn't quite fond of people turning willingly, but he did understand why people would. "I'd rather not be in it directly, but i want to watch." Troy didn't really care if he watched or not, he just wanted to be Eirwyn. If the Ordovices attack, the least he could do was protect her with his life. "Strength is important... i could of protected them if i had it." He looked at her, the first time his eyes had determination in them since the incident. "You and I both know that my ears are the best in the Eceni if i concentrate, I can use my abilities to protect yo..." Troy paused. "I mean the pack." Troy blushed and looked away while scratching his head. What was he doing? He never put any effort into anything, why now?

"Alright, just to watch then," She smiled, but it was quickly replaced with a frown, "oh lamb, no human would have been able to protect themselves like that, not when a lycan is in their full ferocious form. There was nothing you could have done, you can't blame yourself," Eirwyn ran a hand through her hair, her tone might have come off a little wrong, but she meant it, no one could have anticipated it.

Her smile returned when he let slip his intention, she reached over and ruffled his hair, "Good, you can show it off to the others when we go. Anyway, I need to head back to the shop, otherwise my coworkers will wonder why I've taken so long. Don't be a stranger, you know there's always free cakes available for you." She chuckled, then rose from beside him. Eirwyn stood for a moment, glanced down at him with a gentle smile and then turned away to leave.

"See you later!" Troy called out as she left. He turned back to the ocean and his expression went blank again. He stayed there until Barnaby told him they should leave now. Troy nodded and they left, and made there way back to the mansion.
