Pallet town is a small seaside village lacking any real port. It's probably due to the rocky cliffs that border the seaside and the fact that only one small area descends the cliff to touch the water and allow access to it. The land is nice and fertile above the cliff, though, so its become a quaint rural village. Professor Oak, renown pokémon researcher, bought up a large spot of land here and uses it to hold the pokémon he's researching. His lab receives many strange visitors regularly, so a few small shops have taken to catering to tourists, but its not a thriving business. Most of their money comes from new trainers coming by to get their first pokémon. A road runs in from the north, bisecting the town, and continues on down to the one true access to the seaside. If you could swim (or maybe surf), you could follow the rocky waters south and eventually reach Cinnabar Island. Its not an easy trek though...most travelers come by road, or by air. The northern route is an easy climb up a gentle slope to the bustling burg known as Viridian City. Pokémon in the Area: Rattatas (roaming)(rare) between the levels of 1 and 5. Pidgeys (roaming)(rare) between the levels of 1 and 5. Sentrets (roaming)(extremely rare) between the levels of 3 and 7 Pikachu (roaming)(extremely rare) between the levels of 5 and 10 Tentacool (fishing)(common) between the levels of 3 and 7. Magikarp (fishing)(extremely numerous) between the levels of 5 and 10. Professor Oak's Laboratory Professor Oak's laboratory sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Down by the main road there's a big open field with a path leading up to Gary Oak's house/lab. In one corner of the field a PAT tower (Pokemon Alliance Transportation) sits. Most new trainers arrive via pidgeotto- or fearow-back and land on the tower, - though a few lucky ones get a trainer who owns a dragon pokémon like dragonite to carry them - walk accross the field and up the path to reach the lab and receive their first pokémon. Trainers from all over the world come to this town (or its near neighbor, Viridian City) in order to start their journeys, so most trainers arrive using services of PAT. Most cities have a PAT complex, but Oak's is rather nice and large, capable of holding the pokémon who travel there overnight if they wish to rest. Some say its large cement edifice rivals that of Saffron and Celadon's PAT headquarters, but its a mystery as to whose is really bigger. At the bottom floor of the tower a PAT representative stands behind a counter, ready to take a request for services. Professor Oak lives above his lab, but his own quarters are closed to the public. His lower floor is one long, wood-floored room with many windows and many many machines. If Professor Oak isn't here when you arrive, one of his aids will be. These machines communicate with researchers world-wide, store the pokémon of all the trainers who begin their journeys here in Pallet Town, and help to monitor the health of any pokémon Professor Oak may bring in the lab to study more closely. This is usually the starting point of most journeys. If Oak isn't in his lab he's liable to be in the many many square miles of field and forest that stretches off into the distance. Fences crisscross the property, dividing up pokémon habitats, and here is where Oak tries to observe pokémon behaving naturally. Its quite a maze, though, so if you need to go looking for Oak there I suggest you take one of his aids with you. That is, if you can convince them to leave their precious research machines. Pokemon Available to new Trainers Trainers may choose any pokémon from any region from the list available on the website. all pokémon begin at level five. Fill out the following form and post it in your profile thread to indicate which pokémon you'd like and their personality. (Nickname - if applicable) | (Species) | (♀ or ♂) | level 5 | (Personality) If you do not wish to choose your own starter, you may pick from one of the following list members (list is updated regularly) with predetermined species, genders and personalities. When you receive your starter you will also get five pokéballs and a potion, as well as a pokégear with a phone card and a pokédex card (you can opt for older versions of the pokédex if you would prefer one. Simply ask professor Oak. I'm sure he has some extras lying around.) PAT Pricing A sign on the counter in PAT tower reads: Go for speed and an exhilarating ride! Ride the back of our flying pokémon to any city worldwide! Only one carry on luggage permitted. Take to the road with one of our large riding pokémon. Have them carry you safely from your current location to any neighboring city, without the worry of attack by wild pokémon! One carry on luggage and 2 larger luggage cases permitted. Stay connected! Use one of our smaller air travelling pokémon specially trained to look for individual trainers. Give them your letters to carry as swift as the wind to your friends. Only letters, no packages or parcels, please! One way air fare: 150 pk$ One way land transport: 75 pk$ One way letter service: 10 pk$ Just north of Professor Oak's lab, and all on the western side of the main road as well, sit the many small-acre farms and homes of the residents of Pallet town. Little streets go here and there about the village. Most of the residences are either actual farms or simply large properties with houses on them. The residents are polite to passersby, but they like to live their own lives; they don't often enter into the tourism industry. There's a small shop selling various curiousities (including Professor Oak memorabelia) on the main road dividing the town, and its indicated by a simple sign saying "Shop". Next door to it is a small cafe selling some delicious breakfast and lunch meals as well as baked goods, called simply "The Cafe." Just south of that is a limited pokemart selling the trainer basics; pokeballs, potions, and the like. They also rent kayaks, as a sign on their door aparently indicates. Also, one resident did take up the tourism industry. He's a crotchety old man who lives in a big house at the end of a long driveway just off the main road. His name is Paul, and he'll rent you a room in his 'Bed and Breakfast' for a reasonable fee. He may be ornery, but he makes some mean eggs and he runs a nice place, so its worth a look if you want a decent place to sleep. Shop Wares The shop sells curiousities...Trinkets, knick knacks, etc. You can buy almost any little thing you want in this little store, cause there isn't anything that's really useful. They do have that "I saw Professor Oak and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" shirt, though. Anything you buy here will come out of your wallet. Since you as a player are coming up with the things your character is seeing in the shop, you have to make up a price for what you want to buy. Don't forget to request that that price be deducted from your wallet in your profile! The t-shirts are 15 pk$. The Cafe's Menu The cafe serves breakfast and lunch. Breakfast can be eggs and bacon, an omelette, or pancakes, and it all comes with toast. During lunch they provide simple deli sandwiches, a soup of the day, and salads. Coffee, hot chocolate, and pastries are served round the clock. Breakfast is 4 pk$ lunch is 5 pk$ Coffee is 1 pk$ and any of their wide pastry selection is 2 pk$ The Pokemart's Stock Pokeball: 2 pk$ Potion: 3 pk$ Sleeping bag (low Quality): 5 pk$ Compass (cheap manufacture): 3 pk$
The Prancing Ponyta bed and breakfast:
The Beach and Hiking Trail The one decent break in the cliffs at the seaside edge of Pallet town opens on to a small cove sheltered by large, dangerous looking rocks a little out to sea. You don't want to get too close to them, but the water near shore is very deep and very calm; perfect for swimming. The small beach made of round pebbles seems like a good camping spot, too. A small fishing and rowboat dock stabs out into the water. The water itself is slightly chilly and gets deep very vast, but once you get used to it its rather nice. A small path runs up one of the cliff edges. Its surrounded by trees on one side and cliff on the other, and its supposed to wind its way up to a fantastic lookout point where you can see the Kanto region spread out before you, according to the sign on the beach at the base of the path. The sign also says its about a four hour hike round trip. This is where you are most likely to encounter some of the wild pokemon in the area (though they do tend to roam out into the farms and lab area, as well). It's supposed to be very nice and scenic...A perfect afternoon excursion. Edited by Gaia, Mar 13 2012, 08:52 PM.
