Route 2 and Viridian Forest lay between Viridian City and Pewter City. Viridian Forest takes a dip into a valley between the two cities, where dense tree growth has sprung up. Viridian Forest lies to the western side of the area...to the east rises a steep hill, hemming the forest in between itself and the mountains. The hill has a foot path making its way precariously up its surface, which is known as Route 2. The paved North Road, which you have followed north out of Viridian City, leads down into the valley and the dark forest. Either way seems to present possible dangers. Maybe you should weigh your options first before going off in a direction? The trees swallow the road completely. It was said that some years ago the forest had been completely razed to the ground, but you can't tell anymore...It seems as if the forest just doesn't want to die, as it is thick, green, and vibrant as ever. The path is clear, following the side of the road as it twists and turns through the forest. There are a lot of side walking paths branching off the main one, which probably lead to dead ends. Still, the road has to wind itself around many many giant boulders covered in roots and vines, and you wonder if maybe one of the side paths might be faster than following the main road. It'd be easy to get lost in here, though. Pokemon are EVERYWHERE! They run out onto the road, and send rustling noises through the grassy undergrowth that startle and surprise passersby. Its hard to really spot one though unless it comes out into the open. Viridian Forest is home to many bug pokemon, and they blend excellently into their surroundings. It takes perhaps 12 hours to traverse the length of the forest and make your way out to other end...if you stick to the main road. Longer if you don't. But the forest is warm beneath the trees and the path is easy to walk...its not a bad way to spend twelve hours, so long as you don't get stung by something on the way. A Precarious Climb [Route 2] The path that winds away from Viridian and the North Road and makes its way up the hill to the other side might look brighter, and it certainly is...but its no easier. In fact, you're more likely to get hurt going along the path up the hill than you are taking the forest road. You start at a decent incline, you see, and then you end up having to climb short, verticle ridges if you plan on going anywhere. I presume you forgot your rope and climbing gear? Shame. Well, I hope you don't break your leg or something. Watch where you put your hand though! Poisonous pokemon like Nidoran make their dens in the many small caves and rocks here, and if cornered their barbs are dangerous and deadly weapons. Flocks of pidgey tend to build nests here because its convenient to live just above where a lot of their prey - the bug pokemon of Viridian Forest - live just below. You might be able to find a pidgey egg or two, but you'll have to fight a couple pidgey off the nests if you want one. They get mean if you infringe on their space up here. Luckily, there's a waystation at the top selling waters and giving you a spot to rest. The descent down the other side is considerably easier and gentler. The whole trip may take you 8 hours, but its a tad perilous. Somewhere in the side of this hill is one end of a cave made by digletts, but it's hard to spot. You might be able to find it if you look hard enough, though. Edited by Gaia, Mar 13 2012, 09:18 PM.
