Description: [/center] Verus Personality: It's an understatement to say that Verus rarely ever frowns. He NEVER frowns. It's always a cheerful smile with this one, even in defeat. He is very optimistic with almost anything, and loves teasing friends and acquaintances like a playful and mischievous fox. This can get a bit out of hand, however, as he tends to tease people with their obvious psychological weakpoints. Verus, as a scientist, has a natural curiosity for the unknown. He isn’t afraid of doing things that may potentially be hazardous to others around him. But, when he does find what he seeks, he would use this information for the greater good of the Elite Four. He has an effeminate side of him, and he loves dressing himself up in the most bizarre costumes. Though, he is usually seen with an outfit including a tie (“Ties are key to the researcher’s appearance!”). In the end, all he cares about is science, his companions, and Pokemon. Although he does not show it, his hatred for the Miracle Makers knows no bounds for a reason that will be explained in a few more paragraphs. When confronted with a foe, however, he still won’t stop smiling. Biography: As a young boy, Verus was introduced to a wide variety of different kinds of arts. He came from a small family, and they had very little money. But, his parents were determined to get him into something that could help him lead himself to a better life than they could give him. So, the young Aurum studied acting, music, painting, singing, everything. He failed at all of these things, and his spirits dropped for many years... until his 12th birthday. Verus was gifted a chemistry set by his grandfather who passed away the next day. After opening up the box, he learned about his passion for science itself, not just the study of chemicals. Science was a beautiful thing, for anything can be obtained using science. It was a slightly megalomaniacal idea, admittedly, but he was young. In his teen years, he sought out to also become a Pokemon Champion just because it was "the thing" according to one of his childhood friends. Verus, a bit determined to make his first step to reach his rather unachievable goal, embarked on a journey that most children his age would go through with. His first Pokemon were a pair of Klink, birthed from a single egg and effectively making them twins. Their origin story was intriguing, and he took them along on his quest to reach the Pokemon League. He constantly challenged other trainers in his way with Double Battles and, strangely, he was a lot better at those than Single Battles. That was because of the bond that these two had with each other. They were a perfect team, each of their attacks complementing the others'. But, they held a very big love for their Trainer too, who had raised them to become as strong as they were then. Obviously, these two pokemon couldn't possibly be the only Pokemon on Verus' team. His fascination with Steel types led him to Beldum, a small and pathetic pokemon that could barely stand levitate without help. It was frail and weak, but the young Pokemon Trainer tolerated its weakness. Weakness can eventually disappear with hard work, he believed. With his help and the help of his two Klang, it became a little bit more proficient in the art of battle and evolved into a Metang. Eventually, he reached the end of Victory Road with a full party. Verus gave a sigh of relief and headed up to face his first obstacles: the Elite Four. One by one, he defeated them until he made it to the fourth: a Steel-type user. He was very, very old. The moment he entered was, coincidentally, the Elite Four member's final moments. Still, despite Verus' objections, the old man wished to face him for the last time. They both called out their Pokemon and clashed. It was a fierce battle, and its ferocity was enough to keep the man alive until the end of the battle. When it was over, the Pokemon Trainer emerged victorious. Verus ran over to the old man's side and stood beside him as he made his last breaths. Finding potential, the old man selected him to succeed him should he not make it past the Champion. It seemed to have jinxed his entire victory as he consequently lost against the current Champion. It seemed the role of Elite Four Steel-type member was forced onto him. However, it didn't stop him from pursuing his second wish: to become a scientist or, more specifically, a Pokemon Researcher. Even though he was just an underground researcher, he studied almost everything about Pokemon. No single detail was to escape from his grasp. Verus, then called Dr. Aurum, even started to experiment on his beloved Pokemon! These years as a Pokemon Researcher were the darkest in his life. He was the epitome of a mad scientist. It was why he opted to keep specifically what he does away from everything, everyone, and anyone. But, he had only majorly experimented on one specimen in particular: his unnaturally lame Metagross. Using his own mind and the minds of others through certain research notes, he had formulated a way to buff up his Metagross permanently in a sense. It took two weeks for the entire experiment to go through, and surprisingly it all worked out as intended. The Pokemon was able to compare with the rest of the Metagross out in the wild. It was 'normal', but with the (dis)coloration of a Shiny variation. Now, his Elite Four team was just a bit above what it was before. Years later, Dr. Aurum had learned from a fellow researcher about the growing presence of an organization that was known as "MM". It obviously wasn't the complete name, but it was necessary to keep the scientist from wanting to find out more about it. He was told that it was a group that wished for a 'better world'. A small and very vague description was provided. To create this better world, he said, they needed a sample of his work. The young scientist made the naive mistake of giving him his notes on the topic of Pokemon modifications, thinking he may indeed help this world. Unfortunately, things all went down hill from there. The Miracle Makers made their move and struck at the Pokemon League. He, the rest of the Elite Four, and the Gym Leaders were left to fight their modified Pokemon off. The Champion had gone missing for some reason. However, they could not stand their power and they lost control. Infuriated and frustrated that some of his own research and the research of others were used to hurt and change their Pokemon so drastically that they would become unnatural powerhouses that could disrupt the balance of nature. Filled with a bit of guilt and a large amount of hatred for the people who shall bring the Pokemon world down onto its knees, Verus left his job as a researcher to focus entirely on Elite Four matters and took up a smiling facade to hide his true feelings. Science, some of it his, ended up causing so much strife in the Region. It was like he did these things. But, it was now his job to help cease this hurt. Verus the Tempered is ready to atone for his naivete! RP Sample: (Show us how you plan to RP your character) Perhaps it was TOO late of a time in the middle of the night Verus had chosen to stare down at water. His brown hair swept with the breeze that blew all around. The trees shifted, the 'shh-shh' sounds getting louder as the wind picked up. He had never been to Darkwater lake this late. It was an exceptionally ominous scene that only grew more and more terrifying if you were a normal person. The moon did not shine down on the water, but even if it did it would not show a reflection. It was said that the lake was bottomless, but what was the truth? Verus, however, wasn't scared. Not even his Metagross was afraid, but that was mainly because it was more of a walking supercomputer than anything else. The ex-researcher held up a flashlight as he stood on the smooth surface of his Pokemon's back, spinning it around him and causing a circle of light to scare off any nearby Pokemon that might want to get a piece of him. The tall grass was the reason he stood atop his silver-and-gold fortress. Finally, he shined the light on the water. It was like the whole lake was made of oil. Two red lights also shined on this mysterious lake. With an everlasting smile, Verus hopped down and rubbed the hard surface of his partner in crime. "Ah, I can see why they would say this singular body of water is a gateway to another realm. It's all dirty and black! But, are we able to see that this theory is false? There really isn't a way at the moment to see if the theory is true either." He scratched his chin and squinted. "Hmm... If I dive in too deep, even with a submarine, I'll be crushed. The mystery might have to stay a mystery just for this instant. It wasn't a total bother, however. Suddenly, two Murkrow flew out from their trees. They screeched and sped closer and closer to the duo. Verus confirmed that the cries belonged to them by shining a light on them, keeping them at bay while he pulled out one Pokeball. One of them opened and shined a light around the active Pokemon. Then, Verus toss two Pokeballs down on the ground in front of him. Two gear-like creatures of metal floated up closer together, grinding against each other like two parts of the same mechanism. The lights at the center of their bodies flashed brighter. One after the other, they unleashed a different kind of Cannon move at each Murkrow: a beam of light and a beam of surging electricity. They struck the wild Pokemon down and they disappeared into the tall grass, smoke rising from the top of their unconscious bodies. Sighing and shaking his head playfully, Verus withdrew his two Klinklang and threw out a final Pokeball for the night. A Skarmory appeared from it. Verus the Tempered hopped onto the back of the metallic bird and snapped his fingers. It fluttered its steel wings and, like a bullet, dashed up. Its wings cut the branches that would have been a hazard for normal flying-types and they both disappearing, bringing a bit of light to the dark forest. Edited by Verus, Sep 28 2012, 07:07 PM.

APPROVED! P.S notes. Amazing job, as usual you go way over the minimum for the bio which is awesome, plus I feel like I get a whole book of knowledge about your character. I'm kind of strict with people getting shinies but you gave a thorough and legit explanation on how your Metagross is shiny. After all, the Red Gyarados AKA 1st shiny was made through Pokemon experimentation. |
