It had been 2 day since Joseph had left Spartwine City to begin his journey as a Pokemon trainer. Joseph woke up from a nice nap he was having to the sound of a lady in through the loudspeaker. "We will be arriving in Littlelife Town in 5 minutes. I repeat, we will be arriving in Littlelifetown in 5 minutes." Joseph stretched his arm and stood up from his seat to grab his backpack from the shelf in the top, he looked through it and made sure everything was there, he sat back down and waited for the train to stop. As the train came to halt the doors spilt opened and Joseph could hear the lady through the loudspeaker again, "Welcome to Littlelife Town. Please watch your step, and thank you for riding with us."

Joseph stepped out of the train and almost immediatly left the train station to head outside. The town was small, and the only people Joseph saw outside where the people that he saw in the train just now. From the first look there wasn't anything outstanding about this town, but to Joseph this marked the starting line to his new adventure. He streched his arm once again as he took in the bright sun and the cool breeze which he had not felt in 2 days. The train ride was good but he simply missed being outside. Joseph grabbed one of his pokeballs from hanging in his belt, pressed the middle button to make it bigger and then it opened. A white flash appeared as the white flash took the form of a pokemon, and in the blink of an eye Joseph was seeing his Cyndaquil stand infront of him as she let out a big yawn. As if immitating Joseph, Cyndaquil stood on 2 legs and stretched her arms out as she felt the sun and the cool breeze. Joseph laughed a little as he stretched out his arm, Cyndaquil saw it and started climbing it and stopping on Josephs right shoulder, this was how they would usually walk since Joseph liked to spent time with his pokemon on the outside instead of in a pokeball, and apperantly Cyndaquil liked Josephs right shoulder.

"Feels good to be out in the open again doesn't it. Did you have a nice nap?" Joseph said to Cyndaquil.

Cyndaquil moved her head up and down, while saying it's name "Cynda, Cynda."

"Well what do you think, do we head out into route 1, or do we have a look around the city?" Joseph asked Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil was not his pet, she was his partner so her opinion counted two. But before Cyndaquil could answer, both Josephs and Cyndaquil stomach growled in hunger. There was an awkward silence between the two for a few seconds, until Joseph broke the silence, "Well I guess that answers the question. Come on, let's head to that mart and see what they have." Joseph suggested to which Cyndaquil only replied with a head gesture of yes, without saying anything, she seemed embarrassed after what happened, to which Joseph just smiled and patted her head.

A small, fox-like creature ran through the small stretch of forest that separated her from the town in sight, red paws moving restlessly and tearing off some of the grass in her hurry. As she reached the first line of trees that separated the small town from the forest that surrounded it, she skidded to a stop and turned, making bark-like noises towards the direction she had come from, frowning to express her displeasure at her traveling partner's speed. Said partner was some meters behind, changing his pace from a walk to a slow run to reach the Pokémon that had run away the second she saw they had made it to their first destination. "You know, the town isn't going to disappear if we take a few seconds longer," the boy said, tone soft since he knew that no words would ever make the energetic Dark-type sit still for longer than necessary. The Zorua made a content "Zo!" sound while smiling, seeing her trainer had caught up, and ran away some steps before turning to him and repeating her bark-like sounds of her own name, smirking and moving her fluffy tail a bit. "You want to go exploring?" Kuro asked, catching up again to his first Pokémon and stopping there. He took the chance that Tsuki was running around in circles around him to take a look around, red eyes examining the town. Less than ten houses were on sight before the forest claimed its territory, as well as a large building that seemed to be housing something important. He didn't know what it was, so he didn't mind to take the closer look his Pokémon wanted.

Tsuki stopped her running and bit on the edge of her trainer's black pants, tugging to make him move as she shook her head from side to side to emphasize her point. "Alright, I'm going," he said, crouching down to pet her on the black-and-red ball of fluff that was on top of her head with his right hand, as the left one was busy holding the strap that secured the bag where he carried all of the things he packed for their journey. The Zorua made a content noise before running off again in the direction of the large building, pausing and turning to make sure she was being followed. Kuro sighed and run his hand through his jet-black hair; he didn't like the small fox running around on her own, but he guessed it wouldn't cause troubles in a town. She could take care of herself, and always managed to find him again if they got separated. "Well, it won't hurt to know about the town before heading towards Route 1," he thought, slightly smiling at the sight of the Zorua glaring at him as if he had wronged her personally with his slow movements. "You have too much energy," he said, starting to walk again, as the Dark-type rolled her eyes as if he had just pointed out that the sky was blue. She ran off again, deciding human speed was too slow for her, and headed towards the large building with the intention of waiting for her trainer once she reached the doors. Eyes half closed to match the smirk on her face, showing one of her fangs, she fastened her pace to arrive as soon as possible.

Joseph walked out of the mart with some food portions for him and Cyndaquil. He took a sit on an empty bench nearby and the small fire mouse pokemon jumped off his shoulder and sat down next to Joseph. Joseph took from the shopping bag an apple and gave it to Cyndaquil, which she didn't mind if it was peeled or not, and he took out a bag of chips with a bottle of water for him. They began eating their food peacefully while watching people walk in front of them. Joseph noticed a little black fox like pokemon running full speed ahead, Joseph smiled at seeing that pokemon sprint like that, thinking of how much fun it must be having. Cyndaquil didn't seem to pay attention as it continued eating her apple. As soon as she finished her apple she held out her hand saying her name, asking for another apple, Joseph smiled and patted her on the head, "You'll get it later, for now I'm putting it in the bag, wouldn't want you to get fat now."

"Cynda?!" Cyndaquil said shocked, as she looked down at her stomach, trying to see if she was fat. Joseph laughed seeing as she reacted and got up from the bench.

"Come on, we're going to that big building over there. If I remember correctly that should be the Pokemon laboratory. We might find some useful information about the pokemon around here." Joseph said as he held out his arm so that Cyndaquil could climb to his shoulder, but instead she jumped off the bench and started running toward the laboratory. "Cyndaquil!!" Joseph said as he saw her run off. "Sigh. I guess she took that fat joke a bit to seriously."

The small Zorua reached the building, making happy sounds as she slowed down to a walk. She sniffed around, walking in small circles with her snout pressed to the blades of grass, and looked up after a while, trying to decide on a course of action before her trainer caught up. She closed her eyes and felt the breeze swaying her fur for a couple of second before deciding she was bored again and started pacing back and forth as if she owned the place, looking at everything around her with big, blue curious eyes.

Soon enough, she found her distraction in the shape of another Pokémon running towards the lab. This one was as small as her, with short, stubby legs and a long snout. Its underside was milky with blue fur covering the top part, and four red spots were on its back. Smirking again, Tsuki pressed her front body to the ground, her tail still held high in a playful position. "Zo!" she exclaimed, tail wagging, eyes focused on her new acquaintance.

------------------------------------------------------

Kuro walked towards the lab, looking around in case he spotted the seemingly hyperactive Dark-type. He thought of calling her, but if he was honest with himself, he didn't want to attract too much attention while being in a place he didn't know about. Objectively, he knew he had nothing to hide, but somewhere on the back of his mind he still kept thinking it was a bad idea. At least he knew where his Pokémon had been heading to, so he started sprinting towards the building, bag hitting his body softly with each step he took.

Soon enough, he turned a corner and found himself near the entrance of the building, a black spot signaling where Tsuki was. Letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding, he walked towards her, noticing that her attention seemed to be focused on something else. Following her line of sight, he saw a small Pokémon he had never seen before. "You aren't getting into troubles again, are you?" he asked the Zorua, slightly worried that she may have been bothering the other Pokémon. She just let out a "Zo" to acknowledge his presence, still focused on the newcomer.

As Cyndaquil reached the laboratory, she stopped and took a few deep breaths, she looked around the area trying to find Joseph but could not see him yet. She let out a big sigh as she sat down on the ground, she looked kind of lonely. She heard Zo! come from somewhere and spotted the fox like pokemon Joseph had seen before, but this was her first time seeing it, a grey colored pokemon, with a red colored tip in his head, red colored feet, and a black fur around it's neck. For some reason it was pressing his body to the ground like it was ready to jump at Cyndaquil at any moment, but Cyndaquil couldn't make sense of it as she just sat there with a confused look in her face, "Cynda?"

Joseph reached the lab a few seconds behind Cyndaquil, as he was still looking around trying to find her. He then saw her sitting face to face with the fox like pokemon he had just seen a few minutes ago. "Cyndaquil, what are you doing?" Joseph said as he went to stand by her. It was then that he noticed the trainer, maybe the same age as himself, standing next to the fox pokemon, he had long jet black hair, pale skin and red eyes, not something you see every day."Hey is that your pokemon?" Joseph asked the trainer. Joseph was wondering if this guy was attacking his Cyndaquil with that fox pokemon.

Kuro was going to tell Tsuki to leave the other Pokémon alone before they got into a fight when a boy that looked around his age approached the rodent-like Pokémon, who had by now sat down. The other boy had red eyes like him, but these were framed by messy hair of the same color, and he was wearing clothes that bordered on the formal. Apparently he was the trainer of the Cyndaquil (was that how he called it?), since he had now stopped near the blue and yellow Pokémon. He then noticed Kuro, making him blink and get slightly tense, and asked if the Zorua was his.

"Yes, she's mine, I'm very sorry if she was bothering your Pokémon," he said, talking faster than normal as he hurriedly picked Tsuki up. This made her let out a startled yelp, followed by a low growl as she flailed her paws and tail and twisted her body in a light struggle to be put down again. She had never liked people grabbing her, not even Kuro, but he didn't want her to cause troubles and it would take time to get her Pokéball out of the bag. He mentally scolded himself for having put the ball away from easy reach as he held the flailing Zorua to his chest to make it harder for her to get away, as the fox-like creature yipped and tried to overpower the human, biting on the strap of his bag and pulling to try to make his life as difficult as possible until she was given back the privilege of running around on her own. "She knows to not attack unprovoked but sometimes she gets rough with other Pokémon so I swear she didn't mean it if she did something," he continued, talking even faster than before and ignoring the struggling Zorua as she seemed to want to displace his bag to make it fall.

Joseph chuckled as he saw the fox pokemon struggle to break free from her trainers grip. He stepped forward and grabbed Cyndaquil with both arms. "Well that's ok. No harm no foul right." Joseph said as he looked at Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil shook her head agreeing with Josephs statement, about not being that bothered by how the fox pokemon acted. "Maybe it was just trying to play with Cyndaquil, and I guess I might have over reacted." Joseph said as he scratched his head laughing.

It was then that Joseph remembered about the pokedex he had and how he was supposed to record every pokemon he met, he kept forgetting to do that. He placed Cyndaquil on his right shoulder as he took out the latest version of the pokedex from his left pocket. "Excuse me, I hope you don't mind." Joseph said as he flipped the top open and the pokedex and pointed toward Zorua. The pokedex immediately scanned the fox type pokemon still trying to get free. "Zorua, the tricky fox pokemon. Zorua takes on the appearance of other Pokémon to frighten off enemies. They tend to cause harmless mischief and will often laugh when they are caught."

"Zorua huh. Well it's nice to meet you two. My name's Joseph and this here is Cyndaquil." Joseph said greeting the trainer and his Zorua. Cyndaquil followed his example and waved her right hand. "Cyndaquil."

"No, you had every right to think Tsuki may have been doing something," Kuro said, kind of smiling in relief that the trainer seemed to find the situation funny instead of bothering, voice back to normal. The Zorua didn't seem to share the feeling, though, as she pushed with her four paws to try to get away, strap still in her mouth and fur on the tail standing on end in displeasure.

She stopped, however, when she heard the name of her species being said in a robotic voice. Her left ear twitched as she turned her head to look at the device in Joseph's hand, tilting her head slightly. Kuro interpreted that as a distraction and relaxed his hold, but that was just what the Pokémon wanted; she pulled on the strap with all her strength, making it slide down to hang from Kuro's elbow, the surprise weight yanking his arm slightly down. The Dark-type took the chance and jumped, ignoring her trainer's startled sound as she run a few meters away before stopping to shake, turning and making her bark-like noises again with her fur bristled as she frowned.

"...Please don't mind her, she's just being difficult today," Kuro sighed, rubbing his eyes with his right hand. "Great, now Joseph must think I can't control my own Pokémon," he thought. It was true that the Zorua turned out to be highly independent, but she had never gone against what he said if he meant it. And if he tried explaining, it'd probably look like he was making up excuses, so he decided that it would be best to just drop the issue. "I'm Kurohane, but just call me Kuro. And she's Tsukiyomi, but I usually just call her Tsuki. Oh, but you can call her Zorua too, she doesn't mind," he said, looking apologetically at Joseph while shifting the strap from his left arm to his right, so the bag was hanging in front of his body rather than behind. "It's very nice to meet you too, Joseph, Cyndaquil," he said, unsure of what else to say or even what to do with his hands, which were holding the bag as if he expected it to jump away at any minute.

Joseph bursted out laughing at the sight of Zorua or Tsuki in this case, breaking free from her Kuro's grip and getting a few meters away from him. "Pokemon can be really something huh." Joseph said while still laughing a bit. "Just a few moments ago this little girl ran off on me because I made a little joke." Joseph referring to Cyndaquil. She looked at Joseph for a moment and then turned her head to look the other way as she pouted. 'Guess she's still a bit mad at me.' Joseph said as he smiled. He then though of an idea.

He grabbed Cyndaquil with both his hands and whispered to her, "Why don't you try talking to Zorua for a bit and see if you can cheer her up. It would also be good if you could make a friend." Joseph said as Cyndaquil got a confused look on her face. She didn't know what to do exactly since she hadn't had much interaction with other pokemon before, but she decided to give it a shot. She jumped down from Joseph hand and walked over to where the Zorua was, at first Cyndaquil kept her distance as she sniffed a bit infront of Zorua with her large nose. After that Cyndaquil stood up and began moving her arm while talking, "Cynda Cynda Cyndaquil..." It seemed as if she was having an elaborate conversation the Zorua, like humans normally would. She was asking her why she was mad at her trainer when all he was doing was trying to calm her down. She asked more questions about maybe being friends or playing together, etc...

Joseph couldn't understand what Cyndaquil was talking about with the Zorua since he didn't speak pokemon, so instead he focused his attention at Kurohane. He walked over to him and properly greeted him as he extended his right arm for a handshake, "Nice to meet you Kuro, you can call me Joe." Joseph said. "So are you a pokemon trainer aswell?" Joseph asked, trying to start a proper conversation with this person, maybe they were both heading for the same place.

Tsuki stopped barking to look at the Cyndaquil, who had approached her and was sniffing at her. She dropped her aggressive position and sat down, watching as the other Pokémon started talking while making gestures with her small paws to emphasize her point. The Zorua started making her own noises, mainly consisting of varying ways of repeating her own name, though in reality she was explaining in the language Pokémon used how she wasn't exactly mad, just annoyed because the boy knew how much she hated being carried, making a point to send a half-glare in said human's direction.

"And now who knows what she's saying about me," Kuro thought, looking at his Pokémon as she glared and stuck out her tongue when she noticed she was being watched, ignoring him afterwards in favor of more repetitions of her name that he didn't understand meant that she would like playing with the Cyyndaquil if the other wanted to. He did know the Dark-type was enjoying herself, though, if the smirk on her face with her eyes closed was any indicator of her mood, as she waved her paw like a human would his hand, bushy tail wagging slightly. "I think she gets along with your Pokémon," he said, accepting Joseph's handshake with an insecure smile, left hand still clutching the bag. "Yeah, I'm supposed to be a trainer, but I've barely started. I mean, this is the first town in the region I've visited, so I was planning on going to this building here before heading towards Route 1," he explained, gazing at the building in question as he mentioned it before his eyes returned to focus on the other trainer in front of him.

"Just getting started eh, that means you're the same as me. I just arrived here from Sparktwine City. This supposed to be the best place for trainers to start the journey. So I was thinking of heading to this laboratory aswell and see if I can get a bit of information about the pokemon in route 1." Joseph said as he looked to the building and thought that they should head inside. He looked over at Cyndaquil who was still speaking her name and talking to Tsuki, "Cyndaquil come on, it's time we head inside. We don't want to keep our adventure waiting." Joseph said out loud. Cyndaquil looked back at Joseph as she heard her name and understood what he said. She said a few more things to Tsuki as she pointed toward the laboratory, pretty much she was asking if Tsuki if she wanted to go with Cyndaquil to the laboratory

Cyndaquil ran back to Joseph and stopped in front him as she began speaking her name and making hand gestures, she pointed at Tsuki, Kuro and at the laboratory. "Are you asking me if they can come along?" Joseph asked her trying to figure out what she was saying, Cyndaquil moved her head up and down in a yes motion. "I guess you like your new friend Tsuki after all huh." Joseph said as Cyndaquil smiled and said her name with a happy tone.

"Well would you like to accompany us Kuro? It seems Cyndaquil doesn't want to say goodbye yet." Joseph asked Kuro since they were both heading to the same place.

"So he's new too?" Kuro thought, following Joseph's gaze towards the building. He didn't know Littlelife Town was supposed to be a good place to start; he had just reasoned that, being the town that first connected to Route 1, it'd be an objectively good place to start because of the way the routes were numbered. Route 1, Route 2, Route 3... it only seemed logical to proceed that way if you weren't sure about what to do. "Well, I'm glad I made that choice then," he thought, watching as the Cyndaquil ran back to the other boy and started speaking in ''Cynda''s again. Tsuki had followed her new friend, heading instead towards Kuro to stand at his side, previous offense already forgiven. That was the good thing about the fox-like Pokémon; she was quick to anger but quick to forgive if the other party wasn't offending her on purpose.

Tsuki's ears immediately perked up at Joseph's suggestion, and she barked "Rua!", looking at her trainer expectantly. Kuro sighed, smiling at the furry Pokémon's actions; she could be such a handful. "Why not? It seems you know more about the place than me anyway," he said, making the Dark-type jump in excitement and run towards the other Pokémon, running around her payfully in circles. "But Tsuki, no getting out of my sight," he said, fumbling with his bag to retrieve her Pokéball just in case. The Zorua just made another "Zo!" noise again, not slowing down her speed, as her trainer fished the red and white ball and his Pokédex just in case. "That reminds me..." he thought, zipping up his bag. "Wasn't Zorua's entry different when I tried to see her data?" he thought. To test his theory, he pressed one of the buttons to view previously recorded data. The entry on his Pokémon being the only one there, he accessed it quickly, looking as the words "Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokémon. To protect themselves from danger, they hide their true identities by transforming into people and Pokémon." appeared on the screen. "Curious," he thought, kind of looking at Joe and wondering if he was from a different region; that'd explain the difference, though he wasn't sure if he was allowed to ask.

Joseph started walking toward the entrance of the laboratory as Cyndaquil ran off first to the entrance alongside her new friend Tsuki. As they entered the laboratory it had a couple of people inside, Joseph could recognize a few from his train ride to the town, so they were probably trainers aswell or they were just sightseeing. The inside was mostly normal looking, with white floor tiles, a couple of desk here and there and about 5 or 6 doors to different rooms. As Joseph looked around to see if there was anyone who could help them, but most of the scientist were already attending other people.

"Why hello there. Welcome to Littlelife Town Pokemon Laboratory." Joseph heard someone talking, but he didn't see anything. "Down here kid." Joseph heard the voice again coming from his right side. He looked down to his right and saw middle aged man, around 50, who measured about 4 feet, with little hair on his head and a small white mustache.

"Wah! Where did you come from? Are you a ninja?" Joseph said startled as he was caught by surprise by the middle aged man. Cyndaquil was also startled by this man as she jumped back to Joseph and her back lit up on fire from the surprise, almost lighting Josephs leg on fire, "Ahhh! Hot hot hot!" Joseph said as he tried to jump away from the flames and felled on his behind.

"Ohh sorry about that kids. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm a scientist here and I thought you looked a bit lost." The man said a bit embarrassed and ashamed of what he had just caused. "Please let me help you with whatever it is you need. People call me Prof. Barry. I study how pokemon react on the field, and their reactions and movements on battle." The professor said trying to apologize and at the same time introducing himself.

Tsuki ran next to Cyndaquil, paws making a scratching noise as her sprinting took her from the grassy outside to the marble floor inside the building, choosing to stay near the other Pokémon instead of her usual roaming randomly around the place. Kuro was grateful for that as he followed the small group, putting his Pokédex and the Zorua's Pokéball in one of the outside pockets of his bag for easy access, letting it hang from his right arm again when he was done. He looked around the grey room, the color giving everything a formal feeling, broken only by the whiteness of the floor and the darker grey of some closed doors with a small, rectangular window on their upper side. He wondered what was inside, as his gaze traveled from the doors to the sparse furniture the room sported, trying not to look at the people for too long in case someone thought he was staring.

"Why hello there. Welcome to Littlelife Town Pokemon Laboratory."

The sudden voice that sounded so near startled him, making him tense immediately as he let out a surprised "Ack!". Tsuki snickered at the two humans, erupting into full laughter as Cyndaquil's back spontaneously grew flames, the fire almost passing onto her trainer's pants. By the time the other boy fell to the floor, the Dark-type was on her back, hugging her body as much as she could with her short paws as she laughed, her body shaking and hind paws flailing wildly.

"Joe! Are you alright?" Kuro asked, ignoring the laughing Zorua as he looked at the other boy with a worried expression, trying to make sure that nothing that wasn't the Fire Pokémon's back had caught fire. "It wasn't your fault, Professor, we should have been paying more attention," he said apologetically, slightly crouching next to Joe, one hand on his knees for balance while the other was offered to the other trainer to help him get up.

Joseph saw Kuro offer him a hand up and Joseph grabbed his hand and pulled himself up to his feet. The fire in Cyndaquil burned out after a moment when she saw that everything was fine and went over to Joseph leg and hugged it, repeating her name in worrisome and sorry tone. "Thanks Kuro. Don't worry Cyndaquil, I'm fine. That fire's been coming out of you more and more lately, so that means you're getting stronger, though it only happens when you're surprised hehe." Joseph said laughing at the incident, to which brought a smile to Cyndaquils face. "Sorry about that professor, I guess I should pay more attention." Joseph said as he bowed his head and Cyndaquil followed his example.

"Allow me to introduce myself, my name's Joseph Maine a pokemon trainer from Spartwine City who's just starting out on his pokemon adventure. And this here is Cyndaquil, my partner." Joseph said with a greeting tone, as Cyndaquil waver her hand when she heard her name. Joseph then waited for Kuro to introduce himself before he kept talking.

After Kuro introduced himself Prof. Barry turned his attention to both, "So two pokemon trainers starting out on their journey. Ahh that sure brings back memories..." The professor said as he then looked to the ceiling without saying anything, he had a happy look on his face as if he remembering his past journeys. "Umm professor..." Joseph said trying to break the silence.

"Ahh yes yes. Sorry I tend to doze off sometimes in my memories, it happens with age. Well then why don't you tell me with what I can help you with and I'll do whatever I can." The professor said offering his services.

"Well since we're starting out on the journey, I was wondering if you could probably tell us about what pokemon we will encounter in the area so we can be ready. And if there's anything else you can do to help us that would be really appreciated." Joseph said.

"Well that should be easy. Follow me, I'll give a list of the pokemon you'll be encountering in route 1, and i'll give you a tour of our facility as a bonus, you might learn a thing or two from it." The professor said as he started walking to the other side of the building.
