Rest assured that there will be no spoilers (Except for the first 5 minutes..and Ill talk about the characters a little.) Anyway, onto the review!

Story:
The story in TOS is pretty good. The main storyline is about a special tree that once lived and gave Mana to the world. However, during a war between two separate groups, the tree withered away. Since then, there have been Chosens which are destined to travel the world and unlock Seals, until the door to the Tower of salvation is finally opened. It sounds pretty dull, doesn’t it? And also pretty cliché with the whole Chosen talk. But don’t worry, like many RPGS, the story is filled with the odd plot-twist here and there. Most of them are fairly predictable, but still good ideas nonetheless. Some of the story sort of mimicks FFX and Grandia, but after the first part of the game it takes a swift turn and has some original plotlines. It’s not the best story you will ever see, but it’s still enjoyable and good. 8/10

Characters:
The characters, I feel, are really good. Granted, there are more developed characters, but still, these characters still are good and you will begin to like them. I will put the characters into sections to make it easier.

Llyod: Llyod is the main character. Llyod is basically the type of character which is just there. He’s involved with the majority of the plot twists, but he most likely won’t be your favourite character, or your least favourite either. He’s the type of character which is just there to move the story along. Personality wise, he isn’t all that smart, but is very good at crafting and combat. He is also quite a forgiving character, and gets jealous quite easily. Game play wise, Llyod is surprisingly one of the best characters. He is easily the easiest to control, and has a good amount of strength too. This is definitely the character you will want to use as your main character. Especially if its your first time.

Genis: Genis is not particularly a good character, story wise. He’s pretty boring, and doesn’t really have a back story at all. He’s basically just a kid that hates Humans for unknown reasons (later explained..a little) and has a terrible voice actor, too. He’s apparently smart, although I disagree. However, during the game, he is definitely a great character to have in your party. He is the only black mage of the game and deals lots of damage. He becomes more useful towards the second half of the game.

Colette: Ugh…Colette..is annoying. She ALWAYS apologises for everything she does and generally gets on your nerves. She’s kind hearted and forgives people to the point that it’s just ridiculous. Having said that, I suppose it’s better than having a bitchy character. She is involved a lot with the plot twists though, so story wise, she’s pretty good. Battle wise, Colette is pretty average. She has some high spell magic during the early sections of the game, but afterwards she isn’t all that useful.

Raine: Raine is a good character. She is the older sister of Genis (How unfortunate.) and a school teacher. But the reason why I like her is simply because she adds quite a lot of humour to the game. Her sarcasm and her love for anything to do with anthology is pretty D**n funny. She also tends to spank Genis and Llyod a lot. Yes, you heard correctly. If she isn’t spanking them, she is kicking them into a wall. She is also harsh when attempting to give comfort to her companions. In battle, she is a great asset. Believe me, she really is. Her healing spells really saves you a LOT. I recommend using her in your 4 party as much as possible.

Kratos: Probably my favourite character. Yeah, I know he’s the typical badass, but he is pretty D**n cool. He also has a excellent voice actor (Who played Liquid Snake) and is involved with the majority of the plot twists. There’s not much I can say without spoiling. Basically, he is a man that has seen much death and therefore can appear cold at times. As you can predict, he’s good in battle. He has a good mixture of magic and attacking. He’s really helpful at the beginning sections of the game, and if used rightly, he can be a really good tank later on.

Presea: Uhm…She is bleh. She has a back story behind her, but as a character, she’s pretty boring. Not a great voice actor, although not too bad. She basically talks rarely and acts almost like a robot. But on the plus side, she has pink hair. She’s not bad in battle. She is supposedly the strongest and has some good magic attack. A good character to swap around and have her in your party on occasions.

Sheena: Sheena is awesome. No really. She’s pretty funny at times and also is a victim to Colette’s clumsiness. She is both a Ninja and a Summoner, how cool is that?! She has a pretty good back story and is a good character all around. She is definitely one of the most human of the group. Sadly, battle wise she isn’t all that special. Sure, her summons are powerful, but everything else is just average.

Zelos: The official comic relief character. He is basically obsessed with women and is always cracking jokes. He is also a Chosen, although I won’t tell you how. Zelos is pretty down to earth and can be quite insensitive, as well. He also has a pretty sad past, although you can miss it quite easily, depending on the options you may choose..At fighting, Zelos plays a lot like Kratos.

Regal: The final party member. Regal has a pretty good back story and is a pretty good character. He’s quite knowledgeable and honourable. We first see him as an escaped convict. Why? Well play the game and find out! Battle wise he’s not too special, but I liked him anyway. He fights using his kicks and can be pretty good strength-wise.

Graphics:
The graphics are good. They are cell shaded, which for this game, I feel is a good choice. You can really see the detail in the environments. However, the world map looks pretty dull and took a major step back. In fact, it looks like a PS1 game. Also, another disappointing factor is there are only four special anime scenes in the entire game. I feel this is cheap because at the beginning you see lots of anime scenes (before you play the game) but only four of these actually happen. Except for this, the graphics are good and is well detailed in places. I’d give it a 9 if it wasn’t for the world map. 8/10

Sound:
The music in this game is okay. I’ve heard better in an RPG but I’ve also heard a lot worse. I especially like the opening music. Most of the soundtracks aren’t memorable, but there not bad or tiresome either. The sound effects also work nicely with the clashing of swords. The voice acting in this game is also pretty good. And it has the likes of Jennifer Hale, Cam Clarke, etc. Basically, some characters sound terrible, and others sound very good. 9/10

Gameplay:
The game play is definitely the most redeeming point in this game. It’s fun and addictive and is a nice break from turn based RPGS. It is in real time, and the battles are always involved and fast paced. You can decide how your characters will fight, whether they will take a back seat and use magic or help you on the frontlines. You have to make sure you are always doing the most work though, otherwise your party members will be pretty useless. As a team, however, your characters are really helpful. The game isn’t difficult (except for the beginning. Ironic, eh?) except for a few secret bosses. But this game will keep you busy for a long time with the levelling up, side quests, etc. There are also secret weapons, titles and skills to keep you playing for longer. And let’s not forget when you complete the game, you are able to do a new game+ and buy things for your next play through (such as 10x exp.) Altogether, this is a really good game for game play. 10/10

Overall:
Overall, this is a good RPG. Game cube lacks in RPG and this is a good RPG to add to your collection. The story is pretty good and the game play is fantastic, so you should be occupied for 70 hours+ if you do everything. 9/10

I really would suggest playing it, it's an awesome RPG if you enjoy them. It is actually a really long game Inyuasha. The problem is some of it feels a little tedious and pointlessly long, but it's still enjoyable and very long, moreso than RPGS such as Final Fantasy or Golden Sun. Megaman rules though :p.

lol I guess it was wrong of me to assume your all Nintendo fans here XD. Nah it's a good game regardless of the system, though I agree the GC is disappointing. And yes, your right, it is now on the PS2 as well. It WAS only a GC game..but they changed that. They did that with Resident Evil 4 too XD.

Edit:

Actually it's not entirely true. While it's on the PS2 it's only for those who live in Japan.
