Before I start this, I have a weird game grading pattern: Graphics = 6 How the game looks Controls = 2-4 How easy is it to pick up the controller and use it? Gameplay = 10-20 The quality of the game itself. Weighted more for longer games. Multiplayer = 0 or 5 Can you play multiplayer? Sound = 1-4 How does the game sound? Replay Value = 6 Will you pick it up and play it again...ever? Bonus = +0 - +2 Anything that made me love the game way to much? Okay, so I go on to grading GitarooMan...the reason I got a PS2. This is a music game that involves you, some stupid little kid with a pet dog who wants to woo a girl via skateboarding. Except, your not some stupid little kid...you are the gitarooman. Upon figuring this out you then learn how to play the gitaroo from your dog and are then promptly attacked by enemies (10 battles in all I believe). I found the game quite entertaining regardless of me not being able to beat the final boss (6 minute long song battle without pausing). Also, the battleing is done with music. Graphics - 6/6 Nice graphics for early PS2 realease and also has really nice backgrounds. Stuff is always going on on screen, and the stuff ain't ugly either. Controls - 2/4 A minute to learn, a lifetime to master...or even get right Gameplay - 10/12 Fairly generic storyline, but an overall fun game (though a little short) Multiplayer - 3/5 They did a good job on the 2 player mode but it was kinda hard to play split screen and there were limited music choices. Sound - 4/4 The kids voice is a little whinny, but the music is superb Replay Value - 4/6 I pick this game up every now-and-then and play the hell out of it for a few days and then shun it. Bonus - -2 The 'unable to pause' thing really pissed me off Overall Score - 27/37 I liked the game, but there were some functions that they could have built on a little bit. |
