Pokemon Declaration

Bart sniffed as he treaded through the brown leaves. He never understood what it was, but something was oddly satisfying about crunching the dead, golden autumn leaves that filled the ground beneath his feet. The first time Bart had been close enough to notice the skyward trees, he was taken aback by how tall they really were. He wouldn't have admitted that though, he didn't want to come across as a girl, but then again, it was only Hue and Brienne he could admit it to, and they'd already seen him sing, dance, cry, and sing.

Hue took his normal position upon the space behind Bart, holding onto his shoulders as he usually did. Today, being extremely tired from fighting Brienne some days before and getting into an awful scrap with that little brat of a Chimchar back in Tempest Valley, he decided it would feel better to rest his head upon Bart's shoulder as he wrapped his arms around Bart's neck. Bart didn't mind too much, since he was nearly as light as air, however he did find it irritating when Hue's twig-like appendages scratched and poked his head.

Bart had decided on keeping Brienne in her ball; having small, stumpy legs meant that she walked groan-enducingly slow compared to him, with his tall, long legs. He would carry the Shelmet, but he guessed that she would be warmer in her ball. At least then she could rest, and when they made a stop. she could come out.

A gentle breeze blew through the trees. Leaves circled up through the air and fell down as soon as the breeze had died as soon as it picked up. The sounds of Pokemon seemed more faint in comparison to the time that Bart had trekked through the forest previously. The feeling of damp, looming darkness not only made Bart feel a little miserable, but made the whole forest seem a little miserable. Bart knew that he'd take a trek through the forest when it's sweltering hot instead of the autumnal weather, and he hated the heat.

Bart stopped in his tracks. He blinked to himself for a moment before craning his neck from left to right, taking in the trees around him. He brought his wrist up to his head height and pressed navigated through the Holocaster until it displayed the map.

"Oh, shit." Bart mumbled to himself.

Hue peaked up over Bart's shoulder curiously. "Oooowo?" He mewed quietly, almost sounding like a bad, squeaky impression of a ghost at an awkward halloween party.

"I think we're lost." Bart muttered to Hue, but more so to himself. He let out a deep sigh as he looked around, stretching his arms out and scratching the back of his head. Part of him told himself to keep walking forwards, and they'd end up somewhere eventually, but his other half told him that was a long, boring walk. He'd already made his mind up, but he just had to justify it to himself a little more before making a snap decision. You have food in your backpack, though. He reminded himself.

"You know what, Hue?" Bart said, looking over his shoulder at the little ghost Pokemon. He gently reached for Hue, taking him from his shoulder in order to take his rucksack off. "We'll set up camp here and call it an early night."

Hue floated around Bart, following the rucksack as Bart swung it from his shoulder and dropped it on the floor. Hue found himself fascinated by the buckles, and constantly tried to undo them with his grey, stubby hands. Alas, he always came to no luck, though. Bart loosened the buckles and pulled the rolled up tent out. Having to set up tents for the wrestling show back home meant that he could put up a tent with his eyes closed on a good day, but he knew that Hue always found it interesting. Because of this, he always made Hue in charge of holding the pegs as he laid the tent out on the ground.
