Trainer Profile Character Name: Silica Memaya Gender: Female Age: 13 Trainer Class: Musician Height: 4'8" Weight: 79 lbs Hair Color & Style: Straight and dyed light blue, Silica's hair is often pulled up into two long pigtails that end around mid-calf, with bangs that always cover her forehead. Two black and pink loose bands are around the base of each of her pigtails. Having been dealing with long hair since she was a child, Silica deals with it very well, using specific items needed for hair care, and to keep the dyed strands healthy. Eyes: Her eyes are blue, wide, and doe-like in shape. Clothing/Accessories: Due to the fact she is traveling, Silica keeps herself to three total outfits, all shown below. This is to minimise weight, but leave her a small degree of variation from day to day. Occasionally, she'll mix between her favorite outfit, and her warmest one, but otherwise she keeps to these general sets. Favorite Outfit: Starting with her feet, Silica wears thigh high black boots with a blue trimming on top and blue soles. Going up, you'll find a black skirt, also with blue trimming, and a blue trimmed gray vest adorned with a blue tie. Headphones with a microphone attatched are always on her head, the cord leading down to a music playing device in her skirt pocket, and her arms are covered with sleeves that begin at her bicep and and halfway down her hand. These sleeves are rather wide, trimmed blue, and covered with a rectangular design, just as the boots are. A black and blue strap, similar to that of a lanyard, suspends from her front left hip to the back of the same hip. Alternate #1 : This choice of clothing is a lot simpler than her favorite, being a dress. In this arrangement, Silica tends to keep her boots, as carrying around another pair of shoes is cumbersome to her. The dress itself is white, with a underlayer of black on the bottom piece, to puff the skirt up a bit. A thing black string bow is tied at the front of the dress. She abandons the sleeves this time for a simple pair of black hair bands around her wrist, while her black and pink hair bases are now a pair of long black ribbons. As always, her headset remains on her head. She tends to wear this in areas where people are more conservative, or she might have to look more proper. Alternate # 2 : As for colder weather, the clothes become a lot thicker. Her skirts and dresses switch in favor for a pair of warm tights, her boots helping to keep her legs warm. Her hair is pulled into the pigtails with the same ribbon as her second outfit, and the headset is altered slightly, as she slips on a fuzzy blue sort of sleeve around it, helping them double as earmuffs. A scarf adorns her neck, striped, and black and blue in color. As for her top, it's a simple long sleeved white shirt, covered up in a warm black jacket. General Appearance: Generally, Silica can be described as your dainty, thin type. She's a bit smaller than average when it comes to height for people her age, but all the same, she's shorter than most due to her age being pretty young, traveling in a world of adults. Her eyes are wide, and doe-like in shape, while her mouth and nose are both small. Her legs are longer than her torso, and seem longer at times due to her boots and skirt. She's smaller in the chest department, but it doesn't really bother her. Most often, she's picked out in a crowd due to her hair, which is both a strange color and extremely long. When out of the pigtails, her hair goes down to her feet, just barely brushing the floor. Her hair has been this long since she was a child, and, though it takes her time to deal with - such as brushing it every morning and night, as well as taking a longer time to clean and care for - she loves it anyway. She's often asked if it's heavy, and she'll truthfully reply in this sense that it's never seemed heavy to her. She simply assumes that the weight left her with a stronger neck and shoulders than most people. As well as this, her parents never told her that she had hair that was too heavy, so she leaves it as is, only cutting it occasionally when she needs to keep it far enough from her feet that she doesn't trip over it when it's up. Upon her left shoulder is a picture of a rectangle next to the number 1. Photos Hometown: Sharsaber Town - South Godai Personality: If asked to describe Silica, most people would come out with words such as "high-strung", "wild", or "free spirited". Due to a rather inattentive childhood, Silica grew up essentially raising herself, though her parents were around. She ended up a bright person, merely because her freedom in life made her happy. If she wants something, she finds a way to get it, either working for it or otherwise. This is one of the few good things she learned from her parents, whom had to do the same thing many times thenslves. Working for something she wants was something Silica is no stranger too. Thus, she can be a hard worker, though she doesn't seem like she'd be upon first meeting her. She tries to be happy constantly, as she hates seeing others in tears. The droplets of water have always simply bothered her, and she doesn't know why. However, she can be a bit harsh at times. People who get whatever they want without work bother her, and will often be given some sort of harsh nickname, which is how Silica distinguishes people who are on the 'good' side of society in her mind from the people who are on the 'lazy' side. Very few people end up switching from lazy to good after meeting her, as it can be a bit hard to convince her that you're not as stupid, lazy, or cruel as she's made you out to be. So, most people end up keeping the nickname throughout the entire time they know her. Very rarely, you can end up her friend, yet keep the nickname, as in some cases, it can end up a sort of endearing term for her. "Weirdo," could be equivalent to "friend". The problem with this is figuring out which she thinks of you as, because she can be seen as a rather violent person. She'll punch a friend on the arm, playfully, and end up bruising them, simply because she didn't realize her own strength, and punched them too hard. On the flip side, she can hate you, and punch you on the arm, bruise you, and it could be completely on purpose. Most think the key is to look at her expression, but even with a friend, Silica can seem angry, but actually be bouncing on the inside. The way to find her true feeling is more a matter of time, and seeing her small displays of friendship, or hate. If she feels you are a friend, say, she'd feel more open to keeping her music down around you, even occasionally taking one ear off of the headphones to listen to what you have to say, whether they be on or off. Small things, generally, are the makeup of Silica's being. Of course, this leads to another part of Silica, which is her music. Again, essentially having raised herself, Silica ended up attaching herself to music as a way of release, entertainment, friendship, and any other emotion she wanted but didn't have because her parents were too busy, and other children found her too "violent" or "unresponsive". Thanks to this, she is nearly always listening to some form of music. Even if she isn't, she probably has a song stuck on her mind, or she's humming or singing a little tune. It's how she copes, and she considers her music as her own personal being. If she allows you to look at any of her playlists, it's an ultimate display of trust, as she sees that as giving away what is pretty much a piece of herself. Those who try to take this away, such as pushing her headphones off or taking them because they feel she isn't listening, or even unplugging them, will receive nearly life-long hatred, as that is the ultimate offense in her mind. The only way to make her hate you more would be if you killed her pokemon. In both cases, however, it's better to keep away, as Silica goes to a whole new level of anger when provoked so. And at times, she finds this anger hard to distinguish between sadness and fury, which just irritates her more. Long story short, don't touch the headphones or hurt Alto. History: Back before Silica was born, her parents were attracted to the town of Sharsaber just as many other artists had. It was a good place to sell art, and a good place to buy a warehouse to live, work, and possibly start a family in. The young couple settled down there, doing exactly what they planned, a warehouse soon in their name. Thus, they lived, the soon-to-be mother painting endlessly, and the soon-to-be father sculpting day after day. Of course, when Silica was born, the two were overjoyed at their little bundle. They doted on her constantly, always giving her whatever she wanted, that was, until the age of four, when she started schooling. It was then her parents seemed to retreat, almost, paying more attention to their spouse and their work than they did their own daughter. Silica would often vie for their attention, bringing home paintings, and little clay figures, trying to impress them. It never worked, as many a time they simply smiled, set the work their daughter tried so hard on aside, and got back to whatever they were doing before. At first, the young Silica thought it was her fault. That she wasn't good enough. So she searched for something that she could be amazing at. It was at this point she began to break away, essentially raising herself, at such a young age. As well as this, it was at this point she discovered music. She would write songs, and sing them for her parents, who merely reacted as if she'd painted another picture, or sculpted another clay version of Plusle or Minun. After a few months of this, a now 5 year old gave up. She stopped trying to impress, and turned completely to music, if not intentionally. She started staying at school late into the day, working endlessly in the music room, either playing guitar, or piano, or even singing. She worked with the music department, helping out with whatever function was going on at the time, the best a young girl would be allowed to do. Giving that the teachers adored her bright, independent, hard-working attitude, they kept her around. As they didn't interfere with her music, the teachers at her school became some of her favorite people. At night, she would go home smiling, and curl up in bed with her parent's Plusle and Minun, before falling asleep, quietly humming to herself. By the age of eight, Silica was performing. Her parents never noticed her disappearances of performing on the streets for change, and she never told them. It was at this point, however, that Silica began to try again, wanting to know her parents in some way at all. She would work with them occasionally at their studios, helping with whatever they needed on their latest project, humming along quietly. She used the money she received from relatives on birthdays, and other holidays, to buy her headphones, the same ones she listens to endlessly today. After that, she used the leftover cash to dye her hair blue. She was doing well in school, though she didn't have many friends, being that many of them were classified into her 'lazy' category of society. As well as this, she knew many of them saw her as too violent, forceful, weird, crazy, obsessed, etc; She hear the rumors. She'd never cared, as she was proud of what she'd managed to become all on her own. This pride, and the changes in her, both physically and mentally, eventually were noticed by her parents. They still were unaware of her street performances, but, when she turned eleven, they showed up for the first time at one of her school talent shows, where she sang an original song and played a borrowed guitar. Silica had never been happier in her life, she thought. It was as if a barrier had fallen down. Her personality, already deeply ingrained, didn't change. Her best friend remained music. But she had parents who believed now that she was talented, just not in the way they had originally wanted. Their relationship didn't perfect itself ever. Silica, until the day her father came back with her Shinx, still thought of them as only half trying, and saw the idea of a journey when she turned 13 as an opportunity of escape, and seeing some world other than her own small one, comprised entirely of music. But at least her parents were trying. They even took her out with their Plusle and Minun, training with her and Alto until the baby pokemon could hold his own in a fight against weaker wild pokemon. Of course, when that relationship of parent and daughter finally changed for the better, the couple had waited too long. Silica had Alto, who was so small they all believed he'd just hatched, thus the training trip, and her music, and she was already 13, ready to be out of the door. She knew that her parents had caught her a Shinx because, deep down, they had paid attention. They knew she loved Electric types, and the color blue, and stars. And so they combined that into a pokemon. The journey was still leveled straight in her sights, though it has become less of an escape, and more of a means of exploring, seeing the world, and bonding with her Pokemon. She could meet dozens of people all around the region, maybe beat a few Gyms, with music as her constant companion, and her turn to when she'd felt she'd seen all she could. So, when she left, it was in a good state. Now on her beginning stretch of her journey, Silica finds herself comfortable at where she is, and who she is. After all, she has a life ahead of her, all of which has a possibility of being clear, and bright. Hey there Wisp! As you already know me from the Cbox, again, Welcome to Godai! Not bad for your first attempt, but sadly there’s quite a bit to fix. But don’t worry, I’m more than positive you’ll complete these in no time! Let’s begin - To start off, I would /highly recommend/ you check out our ”Accepted Characters” to see what others have done that you may or may not have done! Also, it can be done to draw inspiration from them as well. Not only that but I would also advise you to scroll up within the “Character Application Template” where you’ll see a beautiful example layout under the name “Luna” of how exactly to fill out this application from the written portion to the Pokedex as well! I would advise actually reading it instead of skimming it; it’s what I did when I first started! For Silica, keep in mind that for someone’s hair to be that long, it causes a lot of strain on the neck and for someone who is 13 years old, she’s still a child or pre-teen and this will have problems later on. This being especially that if she accidentally steps on her hair or is caught suddenly this will snap her neck and she will die. I’m not saying you can’t have it, but do becareful of how you portray this as hair this long is rather unique. But I digress. For her ”Height” and respectively her ”Weight” for her to be described as rather thin and dainty, she is actually overweight unless she has muscles from sports but if she’s dainty then I highly doubt it. If anything her height can correspond to her weight if increased a few inches. Then, for her eyes - as seen in the Template Example, how else are her eyes shaped? I know you put it in for her ”General Appearance” so please transfer what you said up there. While on the topic of ”General Appearance” this is basically a small snippet on what other things that are not listed within our given categories that can be applied to Silica. This being, such as first impressions, perhaps how she can maintain that much hair and for her hair to be completely and constantly dyed at the age of 13 where chemicals can cause a lot of damage to the hair as the brain is still developing. Not only that but you say she’s both average and short at the same time? That’s a bit contradicting, so my question is: which is it? Is she short or average? In my country she would be rather tall for her age, but apparently here in the US she’s short. Then, for ”Clothing [...]” this is wonderfully written! However, my question is what else does she wear? Does she have a set preference or style? How about during cold or hot weather? I doubt she wears the same thing all day everyday - but if she does yikes! Now let’s focus mostly on Silica’s Personality and History - For her ”Personality” you’ve definitely hit the minimum which is fantastic! However, I feel you can add in much much much more! Let’s turn her into a more wholesome and realistic character! Though her personality is absolutely adorable and refreshing, it often prompts the question of “why” and “how”? How is she this high strung girl? What does she do? How does she act to people on a normal basis? How will she “dislike” someone? How does she feel about all that? Is being free-spirited really how she is both inside and outside? If she takes no for an answer all the time - why? And how do you think people would feel about this? As a character and like any real person, what are her strengths and weaknesses? Why does she like music enough to get mad to get mad at this person for a “very very long time”? How about her moral beliefs? So many questions! The same applies to Silica’s ”History”! Though definitely sweet and short, it doesn’t quite answer how Silica becomes the person she is today. Because her ”Personality” is lacking, it is only natural for the ”History” to follow suit. I make the same errors as well so in no way is this a bad thing! Think of Silica as yourself, a family member or even one of your friends - what are the events in their lives (both good AND bad) that shaped them to be who they are now? Not everyone has happy memories nor bad memories. What about her schooling? Friends? Socialization is a HUGE part of what makes us Human Beings and really takes part in our personalities growing up. Godai is also based on a modern society that everyone needs to obtain some form of education. How did she come to the conclusion of being passionate for music when her parents were mainly art people? Did this mean she went by herself to sing in the streets below the age of 8? Sounds rather dangerous. Remember, Silica’s ”History” is here to compliment her ”Personality” so I’m sure that the more you add to her personality the more you can add to her history! Don’t be afraid to really flush out those details and descriptions! Think about what makes your characters more real. We’ll stop at the written portion and focus on your ”Pokedex” another day since I feel this is much more important! Once any changes have been made please reply to your thread. If you have any further questions by all means PM any of us and we’ll reply to you ASAP! Good luck! ♥ |

Good job~ Still a bit of work to do. Firstly, if you could put the photos in a spoiler, resize them, or both, that would help a lot since they do take up an alarming amount of space. Next, try to break the personality up into pragraphs like the history. It should have some structure of being broken into categories that are then specified. And as for the history, this is also good, I might want a little more information as to why she wanted to become a trainer though. She's a performer believing her parents don't care and then all of a sudden she's given a pokemon and is off to journey around the country. Also, a small note, street performance is actually illegal without a permit which can't be issued to minors. If you want her to make money then I suggest you take the "hard working" part of her personality and justify it by having her do odd jobs. She's too young to work in a store officially but she can take leaves and mow lawns, etc. Moving forward, only include game items, Pokeballs, potions, vitamins, etc in your inventory. The rest of it is superfluous and takes up space. Your pokedex needs work too. Only include the current ability Alto has. The moveset is wrong, check common applicaiton mistakes. Your EXP is mislabeled as well, look at accepted profiles. And your stats are completely off, check the 4th post of Guide to Godai RP. Let's get past the logistical stuff and then we'll be great. Good job designing a character though~ |
