Trainer Profile

Character Name: Julia Davis
Nickname: Julie
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Trainer Class: Athlete

Height: 5’4”
Weight: 115 lbs
Hair Color & Style: Julia has straight black hair that goes down to her shoulder blades and is usually up in a ponytail held by a red band.
Eyes: Julia’s big, deep-set, almond-shaped eyes are dark green. They're often wide as she explores all the exciting things around her, but they naturally narrow a bit when she smiles (which tends to be a lot), and if she's angry, she'll narrow them rather dramatically. Her eyebrows gently slope downwards above her eyes, and they're usually involved (usually raised) with her emotional expressions.
Clothing/Accessories: Julia prefers to wear clothes that make it easy for her to move around and keep her cool in the hot region of West Godai. Typically, this consists of tank tops or crop tops, shorts, and tennis shoes. She also tends to wear visors to keep the sun out of her eyes. Her favorite color is red, so that’s usually included in one way or another in her outfits. She makes no effort to cover up the prosthetic leg that replaces her left leg below the knee unless it’s cold and she needs to wear pants, but even then, she just does that to keep warm. In fact, she likes to decorate her prosthesis with stickers and the like. Usually, if she’s involved in athletics, her prosthetic leg is replaced with a running blade. She’s not used to anything colder than West Godai in the winter, so she doesn’t own very heavy clothing.
General Appearance: Keeping active for most of her life has left Julia with a toned, tanned body. She has a youthful face that’s usually beaming due to her seemingly endless optimism. Whenever she shows emotion, she shows it as big as she can with a huge grin, angry, pouty lips, and so on and so forth. Probably her most distinctive feature is the prosthetic leg that replaces her left leg below the knee. She walks fairly normally with it most of the time, but if she's been walking for long periods of time and her leg starts to get irritated, she'll start to display a subtle limp that she tries her hardest to hide.

Hometown: Weswell Town, West Godai
Personality: To most people, Julia’s most prominent trait is her seemingly boundless optimism stemmed from her refusal to let her childhood hardship get her down. She’s the kind of person who will look for the silver lining in even the darkest clouds, and even if there’s not an immediately obvious one, she’ll be the first one to assure others that everything is going to be okay one way or another. If someone's feeling down, they can count on Julia to be there to lend a listening ear and find a way to cheer you up. And even if the don't count on it, she'll still try to cheer them up in any way possible. At her most extreme, Julia might try to physically take someone to a designated “happy place.” That can be annoying to some people as Julia tries to push her happiness onto them and refuses to stop until she either succeeds or is somehow forced to stop. Furthermore, sometimes, if Julia doesn't fully understand how to solve someone's problem, which often happens because she's no psychologist, she might offer to distract them with a game or something equally entertaining to help them feel happy for a little while, at least.

Julia is conscious of her “ray of sunshine” attitude, for she wants more than anything to put a smile on others' faces and help them hold onto hope. Nobody wants to be lonely, so Julia's determined to make sure that doesn't happen to anyone. She loves the feeling she gets when she makes someone else happy, but somewhere deep inside, she resents that others never seem to do the same for her... but hey, as long as she keeps spreading smiles, she's bound to get one in return... right?

Julia is a major extrovert who loves meeting new people. She loves the chance to meet someone with a whole new perspective on life because of where they were born, how they were raised, and so on, and the bigger she can make her friendship circle, the better. Besides, the latter could really use some padding out... If she sees someone by themselves, her first instinct will be to go introduce herself. Her favorite things to do with other people involve physical activities, but she’ll participate in just about any activity that makes her friends (or even acquaintances) happy.

Once upon a time, the thought of losing her leg was a depressing prospect for the ever-active Julia. There were times when she thought she'd never be able to play sports or run around or ride her bike again, and she hated it. But as she went through physical therapy and discovered that she just might have the chance to walk again, she clung onto that hope, and to this day, she believes in holding onto hope no matter what because that's what makes miracles—like her artificial leg—happen. On the surface, she harbors no hard feelings about her leg and even shows it off proudly. But deep inside, it reminds her of the bullying she faced as a child and of how lonely that all made her felt.

Partially due to her leg and partially due to being an athlete, Julia's life motto is “Just keep pressing forward, no matter what.” She never wants to look on the dark side of things since she worries that that's what will make bad things happen, so she often recklessly rushes head-first into situations without really stopping to evaluate them. Furthermore, she still retains some of her childhood restlessness.
History: Julia was born in Weswell Town as the only child to Jack and Teresa Davis. Both of her parents have “keep pushing forward” attitudes because of the economic situation in Weswell, which inspired Julia throughout her childhood years. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough to help her with her troubles when she started school and had trouble staying still and focusing on the lessons. Her parents encouraged her to let out her athletic side to burn off that energy, and it really helped. Most of Julia’s early childhood not spent in school was spent running around town and playing various sports and games with the other kids and Pokémon. She made plenty of friends, both people and Pokémon alike, thanks to all of these childhood aspects.

When Julia was 10, the Davis family went on a northbound road trip. One of their first stops was the Miner’s Memorial Caves, where Julia’s father used to work before they were shut down. The family took a tour of one of the safest parts of the old mines to learn about its history and the accident that got the mines shut down. As much as Julia wanted to hear about the cool caves where her dad used to work, she just couldn’t keep herself still, so while the rest of the group was distracted, she ran off to explore and play in the rest of the cave.

Unfortunately, she ended up near a group of wild Pokémon who were fighting. The fighting caused a rockslide that threatened to either trap or crush Julia, so she tried to run. Just then, though, she heard a pained squeal and saw an Aron who had gotten his right foreleg caught under a falling rock. The other Pokémon were already fleeing, so Julia ran to save the poor little thing. While she was trying to push the rock off of the Aron’s leg, another rock fell. The Aron tried to warn her, but Julia couldn’t move in time—her left leg was crushed by the boulder.

Although she was scared, in pain, and barely able to move, she knew that the Aron was feeling the same way, so she did what she could to comfort him while calling for help. Julia still isn’t sure how much time passed before help came to get both her and the Aron. Julia was rushed to the hospital while the Aron was taken to the Pokémon Center.

The doctors couldn’t save Julia’s leg, so it was amputated below the knee. For a while, this made Julia despair. Would she never be able to play sports or run around or ride bikes with her friends ever again? What would she do with her life now? There was no way she could focus in school without some sort of physical activity. And then she remembered the Aron. He had to have been scared, too, and there was no way Julia could let him feel like that.

When she was released from the hospital, she begged her parents to take her to the Pokémon Center so she could see him personally. The timid little Aron had lost his right foreleg, but he seemed happy to see the girl who had rescued her, especially when she swallowed her fear about her leg and cheered him by telling him that they “matched.” The Davis family ended up taking the Aron, dubbed Lefty, home with them.

From then on, Julia refused to let her missing leg get the best of her. She couldn't—it would mean giving up hope and letting Lefty down. When she was in physical rehabilitation before she got her prosthesis, her doctor and parents had to stop her from exercising 24/7 because, contrary to little Julia’s logic, that wouldn’t make her heal faster. Restless and impatient to get the new leg her doctors promised, she “ran” around on crutches for a while so she could be active and get “awesome arms.” Through all of this, she made sure to keep Lefty close so he could exercise, too. She didn’t want to think about what would happen if she could never be active again, so she distracted herself with all the physical activities she could manage to do until she was finally fitted for a new leg eight months after the accident.

She practiced walking as often as she could until she was able to make it look like she’d never lost a leg at all, and once she got her running blade, she threw herself into practice both in and out of physical therapy to the point of exhaustion. She couldn’t give up, not now. At one point, she had to take a week off from her prosthetic training because of a cut on her stump, and to this day, she still considers that the worst week of her life. She could barely do anything, and she grew restless and thought too much about what would happen if this was permanent, and that really, really stunk. Luckily, it wasn’t, and from then on, even though it was a chore, she took better care of her stump so she wouldn’t be stuck in that situation again.

Julia and Lefty became the best of friends, but her life wasn't all sunshine and cheer. Kids can be cruel, and cruel they were when they started teasing Julia with nicknames like “Stubby” and excluding her from their groups because she couldn't play with them anymore. She kept a few friends who were sympathetic (and generally less active), but Julia started to feel lonely without her huge circle of friends. But at least she had Lefty and a few friends from school, and she held onto the hope they gave her as tight as she could, which helped her stay on track at school, as well. Outwardly, she stopped letting the teasing affect her so she could live a happy life like she once had. Once she was able to do athletics again with the aid of her prosthetic leg, she had even more hope to hold onto, and she was able to make back a few of the friends she had lost. She holds the belief that they changed and became better people when she rekindled their friendship with them, but she has to wonder if that's really the case or if they just wanted her back because she was “useful” now...

In any case, as the years went by, most of Julia's friends started getting their trainer's licenses and going off on their journeys. At first, Julia's parents didn't want her to go out because of her handicap and the complications it could cause. Julia pushed herself to the limit to prove that she could make it: she took on more responsibilities around the house, volunteered for the community however she could, and trained every day through her usual routine of sports, running, biking, etc. Finally, now that Julia's sixteen, her parents are convinced that she can handle herself... just as long as she's careful and calls them as often as possible.

Julia's excited. She gets to go out and see the world, meet all kinds of wonderful people and Pokémon—she doesn't really want to think about the bad people and would rather just keep them out of her life—and push herself to the limits to prove that, yes, she can do it. Whatever will happen will happen, and she'll keep pushing forward to whatever tomorrow may bring, even if it isn't all sunshine and rainbows.

Welcome back Alicia! I’m sure you know how this works already so let’s begin -

First off, wonderful profile here! There’s just a little bit to go on in order to hold you to the same standards as everyone. But pfft, you’ll do just as wonderfully.

For her ”Eyes” how big are they? What does it mean to be “expressive”? Are they normally wide out of sheer habit or are they narrowed in the mornings? Any complimentary eyebrows with it? How high or low are they on her face? So on and so forth.

For her ”General Appearance” perhaps add a few more sentences in there. Again, what does it mean to be expressive? How does her facial expressions show it? What body language expresses “expressive” to another person? Having this prosthetic leg, does she walk with any type of subtle limp? What happens if she’s worn it for longer periods of times, will anything about her walking show? How about people’s first impression on her? Does anyone ever comment on her leg? Etc.

Let’s zoom into her Personality and History -

Starting with her ”Personality” constantly as yourself “why” and “how” and think on a psychological basis to why Julia does the things she does. You’ve done very well to scratch the surface and give an overall perspective of her - lovely! - but what else can we know about her? What other deeper descriptions entail to see more of who she is? Is she conscious of these traits? Or is it a subconscious process? How does she feel with having these traits? How does she feel about herself? How does she feel about Pokemonkind and/or Mankind overall? Why is she the type to look at the silver lining even in the darkest clouds? For example, I do the same thing because I refuse to succumb to the murky depths of negativity that I once was and that I feel hope is the last thing I can hold onto when things go awry. So what about Julia? Try to avoid a lot of “you”s in there and use more descriptive words to describe how and what will Julia do. How is her methods child like and how are they pushy? Does she get in people’s face with a smile? Does she kidnap them from their homes and take them to some awesome places? Does she use little simple words or use some philosophical anecdotes? Why does she love meeting new people? What emotions run through that makes her excited at the prospect of meeting strangers? Is there something she looks for or wants to discover? What is the significance of having a prosthetic leg? What about the significance of being an athlete? How does having those two affect her overall personality or outlook on life? Have they shaped her to solidify a certain idea or belief? Does she have any other morals or beliefs by any chance? What about her strengths or weaknesses? So on and so forth. Don’t be afraid to really get into the details and descriptions!

The same thing applies to her ”History”. Expand more of her childhood. As a child what other things inspired her? How did she feel on an emotional and mental level throughout these stages of life? What were the emotional and cognitive developmental growth that went on through Julia? What else did she do in her childhood before 10 years old? Elementary school? Friends? Socialization? Why did she get bored when she stayed still? What was she looking for? How was her relationship with her parents? Though you did a wonder job in explaining how she got her leg crushed, what was the aftermath? How did she cope? What stages did she go that patients tend to go through when they realize they are losing an extension of their self. Did the psychological and emotional process go towards how children view it or more harsher and through an adult’s mentality? This is a significant part of her life so it should play a significant deal upon her being. Not only that but physical rehabilitation is a very strong part of the aftermath and what other difficulties and challenges did she go through in just the hospital? How did any of this shape her mind for who she is now? Then what about after the hospital? How did other children or teens see it? Did she get bullied? Did she make any friends? Why or why not? How did she do at school with the temporary handicap? What internal struggles did she go through per day of struggling with that “meaty” leg until it became the norm? Honestly there’s very little I know about Julia’s 18 years of her life other than she was born, played sports, got her leg amputated and got the Aron. What about her teenage years? What about before turning 16? So many questions! What further assisted her on being who she is today? Remember that her ”History” should compliment her ”Personality”! Remember: details, details, details!

Everything else looks good! The most you should pay attention to is the Personality and History. I totally look forward to seeing your edits! Love that fact that she’s so happy~~ So reply whenever you’ve made any changes. Good luck! ♥

*cracks her knuckles and grins* All right, let's do this!

Not gonna lie: when it comes to physical descriptions, especially facial features, I'm poop. I did my best to add what I could, but it's probably not great. This is a very vague idea of what I imagine her looking like:

Spoiler: click to toggle

Obviously without the robot arms.

As for personality and history, I gladly went into more detail with those. Julia's always been the kind to sort of bottle up any anger or sadness she feels, but now that's more present in her profile. Hopefully it's not too vague, but I wanted to add some of my own personal style. Plus, it was great getting the chance to explore what makes Julia tick in this particular universe. (Fun fact: Julia's a character I've had since my City of Heroes days. She's usually got a much more tragic past, but I figured I'd tone it down for this setting.)

Let me know if there's anything I can expand upon or clarify!

(P.S. Love your avatar.)

Pssshh you got it down; no worries.

But, ugh absolutely beautiful edits. That's exactly what I'm looking for! Tragic pasts are fine as long as the psychological process is justifiable and realistic!! :D But anyways -

Normally I'd give this a definite first approval that it so lovingly deserves, but I'm going to that person and be just a taaaaddd bit more picky. sorry

But because she has a prosthetic, I'd like to see one or two more paragraphs simply on her journey from regaining her balance, to physical rehabilitation, and the obstacles and inner turmoil she may or may not have faced as she cleared that particular hurdle to how she can easily live with the running blade today. Since you've used her many times in the past I'm sure this edit will be very quick!

Once you've gotten that and edited, just post again. I shall be waiting! ♥

(P.S - Thank you)

ugh how dare you make me keep writing gosh you're so awful Finished! :D I also added a personality block to Lefty's info. Hope that's okay.

Fun Fact #2: I've never gone into this much detail about Julia's recovery process before because, well, nobody's asked. It was really cool to do more research on that.

Fun Fact #3: She usually has cyborg arms instead of a prosthetic leg, but this setting isn't futuristic enough for that coolness.
