Out of Character Hello, Godai!! It's been a pretty long time! I suppose this is a handy warning as anything, but: while the written sections of this application are completed, I would like to add images of Yoichi after this is up. Edits in order to add these images will be made accordingly so long as this application is waiting to be accepted. Significant changes other than adding these images will be noted here. Once accepted, this spoiler will serve as a changelog for non Adventure Log edits. Edits will no longer be made directly to this application, and will instead be directed towards this forum's proper modifications thread. The following spoiler contains the changes made towards this application: CHANGELOG (August 11, 2015) - This changelog was created. (... I do have a question, though; for non-specified people whom have impacted a PC's life, is it possible to have NPCs generated for those people in the future?? These people can be found at the end of the "Metropolitan Avenue" section in Yoichi's history. I FOUND THE ANSWER, AND I AM SMART-- hsajhdasjf)
(August 13, 2015) - Added some information on Yoichi's "General Appearance". More information on that, his personality and teenhood will be added as requested!
Finally; I hope you guys get to enjoy Yoichi!!

Color: White-gray (#D9D9D9)
Hometown: Metropolitan Avenue, Union, Central Godai
Physical Information
Hair Color & Style Yoichi's hair appears solid black underneath most light sources, with bluer undertones visible during sunnier days. Recently cut to look textured, the man's hair has been tastefully styled in order to look as if it were being swept to the side. He likes taking care of his hair and maintaining a consistent look "for fun" - though he is fashion conscious, and understands that the outfits he puts together also have to reflect the way he styles his hair.
Eyes Like his hair, Yoichi's monolid shaped eyes appear to be so dark that they come off as jet black at first. Upon closer inspection, one could find that the heavily dark rims around his eyes come off rather strongly. Beyond them, rays of dark brown can be seen dancing along his irises. His eyes seem to have a shine to them, making him appear as if he indefinitely had an innocent or mischievous motive in mind.
Clothing/Accessories General:
A fan of simple, accessible yet classy clothing, Yoichi's wardrobe sports a monochrome assortment of blazers, jackets, and sweatervests with complimentary slim fitting jeans and dress pants. Dress shirts, v-necked t-shirts, and polo shirts made of either solid white, gray, black or red colors - with the odd grid patterned or graphic shirt here and there - accompany the aforementioned threads he dons. He seals the look with dress shoes or loafers, and occasionally adds on to this general appearance with ties, sunglasses, chained necklaces, scarves and hats if times call for them. He hardly steps outside of this fashion if he could help it otherwise.
Seeing as his work clothes do not wander too far away from how he generally dresses, the difference between Yoichi's work and casual clothes is a simple blue apron.
Home/Night Wear:
The static and uniform collection that consists of Yoichi's outdoor wear is but a bland aspect in comparison to what he'd wear at home. Graphic t-shirts depicting cartoon characters or movie protagonists, sweatpants, multicolored socks that were selected based off of convenience alone, and anything that happened to catch the man's eye prior to stepping outside of his room are the bulk of his day-to-day home wear. He has a few extra shirts that he claim are for "emergencies," which isn't a complete lie; these well taken care of shirts are reserved for people who need an emergency change of clothing, or if he finds a Pokemon that could use a shirt for whatever reason.
General Appearance Yoichi's round face and fair, youthful looks makes him appear younger than he is - and his behavior doesn't help his case. His thin lips are often crooked up at the ends with a smile; when his face relaxes, observant individuals can note that there are thin lines beside his mouth from smiling most of the time. There are a few pale brown birthmarks behind his right ear that speckle downwards to the start of his shoulder; while by no means athletic, he has enough of a lean build that permits him to handle a handful of physical tasks.
Expressive as he is cheerful, Yoichi seems to have a bounce in his step when he even feels the slightest bit happy. He has thin yet long fingers, and he uses his hands to further express and add emphasis to his words unconsciously. Often the cause of accidental mishaps due to exceptionally exciteable gesturing, his hands can be seen with light cuts or bandages from time to time. The same could be said for arms, elbows, knees, shins and feet. While not clumsy, Yoichi can cut and bruise easily, though he has a high enough pain tolerance that it takes him a while to even know that he underwent injury in the first place; even then, he wears bandaids along his fingers and other targets of constant mishaps to prevent infection.
With a constant twinkle in his eyes, an ever present smile, and a type of liveliness that makes him more of a boy than a man, others could only assume that he'd never quite grow up. The notion of it doesn't bother Yoichi; in fact, despite being aware of such a thing thanks to his coworkers and friends, the fact neither relieves nor bothers him.
Personality
General Information Yoichi is a sunny and positive guy, and does his best to be so for anything that he comes across. He is a fan of looking at the brighter side of things, especially when a situation is in need of a pick-up. He does his best to focus on things when focus is needed, and can get work done if allowed the time and space to do so; however, he has a hard time of denying people of help, and will try to help others despite being horrible at multitasking. Always minding his manners, yet prone to fumbling with his words and actions if things were moving too quickly for him, the man is quick to laugh things off and apologize if he makes a mistake.
Politeness, kindness and selflessness to the point of over exaggeration and exploitation from unfriendlier parties are, unfortunately, glaring flaws that don't take long for Yoichi to reveal. While mildly aware of these shortcomings for the most part, he has a hard time facing them. He has yet to truly recognize his problems, and has relied upon his ability to focus on the present instead of trying to improve himself. It isn't that he hesitates to deal with his problems alone; Yoichi sincerely can't find a way to begin a resolution with them. He thinks he is satisfied with how he is now, and shouldn't change if he isn't being pressured to. In truth, his ability to twist and bend past problems as he goes has lead him to turn a totally blind eye on issues.
While his kindness can be taken advantage of and his hopes may be trampled, Yoichi finds a way to forgive offenders someway, somehow. However, his naivety and willingness to forgive does not make him a totally oblivious person. The thought of blaming people cannot be made without blaming himself along the same terms - but even despite this, he never expects people to atone for their mistakes if they make them. To be met with kindness after undergoing something unkind is the best thing that can happen to Yoichi, and he takes and appreciates these reconciled people with open arms.
Yoichi, after having plenty of ups and downs with kind and nasty people alike, likes people. However, that is nothing compared to how much he loves Pokemon. Seeing a Pokemon gets him excited beyond belief; high pitched excited whispering or exclaiming, abandoning tasks (unless important), and beelining towards small or large critters alike is a common reaction for the man, if not one of his primary ones. He is unafraid of even the most unruly of Pokemon, though he does know when to exercise caution when it's due.
The man is a total Pokemon enthusiast, despite not being a proper Trainer until recently. He knows enough about Pokemon from the top of his head to nearly make him seem moreso a Pokemaniac than a Pokefan, though he knows when restriction and composure is due based off of the atmosphere of the situation he is in. He enjoys all of the aspects of Pokemon caretaking - from battling with them, to research them, to breeding them. At the moment, he only wants to blog about the adventures that he and his newly acquainted Purrloin, Chime, partake in.
Perhaps one of his favorite things to do (aside from gushing over Pokemon) has to be keeping up to date with the latest trends of the online world. A hobby that was developed after moving into Metropolitan Avenue and meeting his highschool friends, Yoichi is an avid blogger when it comes to Pokemon and pop culture related topics. He keeps his electronics constantly charged, allowing him to access the internet as he pleases to speak to friends, look up news, and write about the way Chime sneezes like a squeaky toy.
Additional Information
- Yoichi is terrified of the prospect of zombies, mind control and ESPECIALLY hiveminds.
- While he adores most Pokemon, some one-eyed Pokemon weird him out. The one who makes him the most squeamish are Unown.
History
Childhood Yoichi wanted to be a dozen things when he grew up; he wanted to be a Pokemon Trainer, and a Pokemon researcher, and a Pokemon breeder, and a Pokemon if he could... but there was no denying that he loved Pokemon from the moment that he got to learn about them.
Life as a boy growing up in Sangproctor City was one full of wonder and learning for little Yoichi Moriyama. His parents encouraged him to be curious, and his father especially nurtured him to keep an adventurous spirit. With his eyes glued to TV programs about Pokemon and the latest technology and books on the world of these fantastic creatures (and even memorizing some pages of his mother's old Pokedex books), Yoichi's love for Pokemon was apparent.
Coupled with his adoration of them, Yoichi was highly imaginative growing up; he was very happy playing and fantasizing his own adventures on his own, and was happier when he got to play with kids who could share his wild ideas with. Adventuring outside of his house, at his father's office in a factory, and within school as a pirate or Pokemon astronaut was one of his favorite hobbies as a child. He was popular among equally exciteable children his age, and couldn't have had a more positive time growing up.
Of course, that wasn't to say that everything was all roses and daisies for the boy. While finding a place within the more imaginative cluster of children, ones that would have been considered bullies by most were also attracted to Yoichi's cheerfulness. His willingness to get along with anybody who even breathed a word about Pokemon made him the target of several shades of hectoring; from taking his things, to pulling pranks that ruined his supplies, to bluntly calling him annoying and idiotic... it appeared that the more fun Yoichi had, the more animosity he attracted from kids with different mindsets.
Yoichi hadn't even realized that he was being bullied until a teacher had to intervene during one severe incident; a child, who was fed up with Yoichi's unshakeable good mood, had begun threatening him by feeding him to their parents' Sharpedo. When it was discovered that several other children had done similarly ill spirited acts towards the boy, Yoichi, his parents, the children and their parents, and the school's principal had numerous meetings to thoroughly flush out the problem.
At that moment, Yoichi hadn't known what to feel about the whole situation. It seemed as if the more meetings he and his parents had to attend, the less enthusiastic he felt. Two and two never quite clicked for the boy when it came to how much the bullying had harmed him; instead, he thought that neither he nor the bullies had done anything wrong... though he guessed he could be a bit more controlled when he played.
After the ordeal, the bulk of the animosity aimed towards him died down - however, traces of it still lingered. To the more stubborn and sneakier of the children that once tormented him, they promised him full reconciliation in exchange for friendship, to which Yoichi fully agreed upon. In truth, these kids leeched off of his work ethic and gullibleness, getting their homework and projects done by Yoichi and paying him back with a minimal amount of attention and friendship. While this slipped underneath the school's radar for a short span of time, the mean spirited children were caught once more. The meetings begun again, this time with an aim to completely end the offending kids' manipulative behavior.
At this, Yoichi had to question himself: was he a bad friend for allowing these kids to take advantage of him, or were they the ones in the wrong? Once again missing the point behind these meetings, the boy concluded that as long as he was able to be there for them while it lasted, then that was all that mattered.
The rest of his elementary school experience passed without further incidents, and a once bubbly and energetic Yoichi had become a lot more demure and thoughtful. After graduating, the boy was asked by his worried mother if he wanted to continue his education. It took a day of thought, a well filmed and emotional documentary about the harsh life the Piplup line endures, and two parents staying up all night to console a blubbering preteen to persuade him to take up secondary school with gusto.
Teenhood Maintaining an interest in Pokemon kept Yoichi from completely abandoning the concept of continuing education, and he enrolled into a secondary school whilst on the heels of graduating his first year. Without hesitation, the boy signed himself up for Pokemon Training.
Entering his second year of secondary education changed his life as he met Simone, a wildchild whose family moved into Sangproctor for business reasons. Ruthless, rude, and hotheaded were perhaps the kindest of words that most people used to describe her. She was just as passionate about Pokemon as Yoichi was, however, and he became one of her only friends throughout their time at school.
The two met during the first day of Pokemon Training class, wherein Simone made an explosive entrance via thoroughly decimating a classmate with a training Pokemon the school provided - and of a disadvantageous type, to boot! While Yoichi's classmates began to find her brute force and environment-conscious way of fighting to be obnoxious and unfair, Yoichi was quick to admire it. Her input on her style further inspired him; she parted with him that if there were something ever in her way, she knew she had the ability to take what she had and show it who's boss. Who else would have done so otherwise?
Perhaps one of the first deep friendships Yoichi has had in a while, Simone and he were opposites that meshed together. Yoichi was known for his friendliness and sense of humor, while Simone's powerful presence earned her a name to be feared among their grade. The boy displayed nothing but genuine feelings of happiness and trust within Simone, and she was more than happy to reciprocate the notion while letting him ride on the coattails of her mean streak. As if to echo his elementary school experience, Yoichi saw nothing wrong with Simone mercilessly powerhousing through battles in and out of school.
Yoichi's popularity clashed with Simone's infamy; no sooner had they become close did people have a hard time separating one from the other in reputation. In essence: whatever havoc Simone pulled off, Yoichi's name was oftentimes tossed into the same tier of troublemaking as she. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the boy's more selfless and amiable pursuits. Things only worsened when Simone would verse kids outside of school, using her own Pokemon to cause more damage than necessary and scare people into keeping quiet about these battles.
It was hard to draw a fine line between the two teens in reputation anyhow. There was a margin of truth when it came to Yoichi and Simone being rowdy teenagers together - though if it was anybody's fault, it was Yoichi's. The boy saw past the girl's brutality and got to understand why she behaved the way she did. It was difficult for him to detach himself from somebody like her, especially since she always appreciated and enjoyed Yoichi's company. For that reason, he was a continuous spectator and companion throughout Simone's scrapping; he neither encouraged nor interfered with her practices, and mostly stuck by her side to make sure she was okay when the day was over.
Simone, in turn, went out of her way to defend and protect the boy, especially when her issues began to sully his name. The peoples' hesitance to understand, or their denial of understanding overall, frustrated her a lot - a frustration that, until recently, Yoichi did not understand. As Simone's reputation worsened and rumors about the two causing more heinous acts - thievery, gang activity, and acts of vandalism and violence to name the most severe accusations - the girl stopped her actions abruptly just as she was expelled from secondary school.
Simone's leave took a hard toll on Yoichi. With her away, he was left to deal with the remaining animosity that clung to the two. Not bothering to defend himself much throughout the ordeal, he spent whatever energy he had trying to persuade his peers and teachers that Simone did not do the wrongdoings she was accused of. While his efforts contributed little in terms of rectifying his friend's name, the murmurs of distrust and rumors about the boy died down as weeks passed.
Despite this, Yoichi's sadness and incomprehension of the ordeal concerned his parents. As winter approached and vacations were being planned, Yoichi's father decided to visit some relatives that lived in Metropolitan Avenue. Once school was out, the Moriyamas set off to do just that.
What was originally planned to be a simple visit to family, turned out to be a far more intense trip for the trio.
Upon arriving to Metropolitan Avenue, Yoichi's father suffered one misfortune after another. From undergoing food poisoning upon arriving at the Union, to becoming further sickened by a stomach virus and (progressive) digestive issues, to finally suffering road rash along his arms after getting hit by a speeding cyclist... the man's awful health resulted in an elongated stay within the Union. The Moriyamas decided to simply move into Metropolitan Avenue a few weeks shy of the last misfortune, giving them a secure place to stay as Yoichi's father was hospitalized.
Throughout that span of time, Yoichi had done what he could to keep positive about the changes going on around him. With the family's move to Metropolitan Avenue, Yoichi was unsure as to whether he felt appreciative or disheartened by it; he hardly had friends left in Sangproctor and in school, and Simone had dropped off of the face of the earth after she was expelled from school. His family had insisted that he would find better friends at their new home; that, and there was a cousin his age that he should get to know.
With his father's health going downhill, Yoichi would have underwent even more sadness if it weren't for his cousin, Arcadia.
Metropolitan Avenue Upon moving to Metropolitan Avenue, Yoichi met the Floros' - relatives from his mother's side. His aunt and uncle had a single son named Arcadia. The difference between the two had been great at first, though their similarities quickly disbanded anything that would have otherwise made them total opposites.
Arcadia was just as exciteable and friendly as Yoichi had been prior to Simone's disappearance, though he had an adventurous and brutally honest streak that made the younger boy a character of his own. He had none of Yoichi's doom and gloom when his cousin first visited, and practically stuck to Yoichi's side well after he moved into Metropolitan Avenue.
Hardly a day passed without Arcadia making his presence known somehow. Most of Yoichi's days were spent outside as his cousin energetically acquainted him with every possible street, corner, nook and cranny that his hometown had to offer. Furthermore, Arcadia refused to let Yoichi look like a doused Trubbish (as the boy put it) while Yoichi resided in Arcadia's town, and drilled fashion and trends into Yoichi's head. Once Yoichi was forced to memorize the location of Arcadia's favorite spots in town and how to "properly" dress, his cousin proceeded him to get acquainted with just as many people.
The amount of friends his cousin seemed to have was staggering at first; while Arcadia, startlingly enough, was not a social butterfly, the younger boy's hastiness and charm made him a popular resident of Metropolitan Avenue. He knew who worked in what shops as if he were born with the knowledge, and made sure that Yoichi was well received all around town. While initially overwhelmed by the shift of atmospheres from town to town and his dad's worsening conditions, Yoichi slowly adjusted to the town and its people and felt very welcomed in it.
Things hardly stopped there. After receiving a good word or dozen from Yoichi's exciteable cousin, a manager from the town's department store had been talking to Yoichi one day to take a closer look at him. At that point, the boy had fully adjusted to living in town, and had shed his initial apprehension. Finding Yoichi's upbeat and friendly nature to be a kinder brand of what his cousin had, they asked him if he had any plans on working anytime soon. When Yoichi answered that he never considered it, they offered him an opportunity to work at the department store; the store traditionally took in part-timers as the school season ended for the summer, but there was little wrong in considering a prospective worker if one showed a significant amount of potential.
A few tests and a training session later, Yoichi began working at that department store as a part-time worker. Finding the work that came with helping customers, restocking items, and meeting all sorts of Pokemon to be good for him - and even fun - Yoichi spent a few months as a part-time worker at the store before re-enrolling into secondary school to complete his final educational year.
The remainder of his school term was spent in peace and happiness, and he made a few good friends in it. In fact, those friends were just as excited about Pokemon as he was, and he hardly spent a day without getting to know them and talking about what they all liked most. One of the most positive crowds he had gotten to know, these friends took up Arcadia's torch in encouraging to look and feel his best. He became fashion and appearance conscious thanks to them, and was introduced to websites online that kept him up in the latest trends within fashion, pop culture, and Pokemon. Once he graduated, he and those friends began keeping blogs to stay in contact with each other; even as they all went their different ways into Godai, Yoichi stayed in town to go back to the department store as a full time worker.
Life at Metropolitan Avenue had been positive, his father's conditions aside. The old man in question was practically recovered from his run in with the biker earlier that year, but his lack of improvement with his digestion kept him from being in one-hundred percent good shape. Yoichi finds being able to work and possibly paying for something that could help his dad to be a good goal to work for, but he's persuaded that his dad will find a way to work past his issues without a problem.
Things would have remained as a pleasant and linear way... if he hadn't ran into that Purrloin.
Relationships
Relationships (Family) Yoichi's FamilyMom A goal oriented lady who somehow makes time for her children anyhow, Yoichi adores his mom. He doesn't mind the way she fusses over him, though he idly wonders if he could ever get away with something without worrying her.
| Dad Bold and young at heart, Yoichi's father is an adventurous man despite his decline in health. His kid-like sense of humor and wonder makes him a well liked man among friends, and Yoichi looks up to him immensely.
| Best Friend (Simone) Headstrong, rash and quick tempered are a few of the words that can describe this girl - however, Yoichi understands her drive to fight herself and her friends, just as she deeply appreciates his unconditional kindness and trust. The two are still best friends, despite hearing nothing about her after she was expelled from secondary school.
| Arcadia Yoichi's younger cousin. While similar in excitement and friendliness, Arcadia doesn't cut corners when it comes to telling brutal truths and giving honest answers. While he could learn how to soften his edge when it comes to the truth, his charismatic nature makes up for it. |
Relationships (NPCs) Yoichi's Encounters (NPCs) Yoichi hasn't encountered any notable NPCs yet!
Relationships (IC Friends) Yoichi's Friends and Rivals Yoichi hasn't encountered anybody yet! That should be fixed soon, shouldn't it?

Yoichi's first Pokemon. Rather domestic from the get-go, Chime is quite the affectionate feline. She loves attention and being around humans, and would take a second's worth of pets and scritches for a battle any day. Despite this, she can get defensive if she feels that her peace and quiet was interrupted, or if she felt the human boy she adopted was in danger.
