James's week at the inn was enjoyable, truly it was. There was good company, he'd tended to his pokemon's injuries, thankfully they weren't hurt badly but James made sure they were completely fine before he considered heading out. He could have used the pokemon centre, but he could treat these injuries himself. He didn't wish to take up space at the pokemon centre when somebody else might require more urgent care. It wasn't that he didn't trust the nurses to prioritise, but he didn't want them to feel bad about having to make that choice. The snowstorm that once was had passed, yet it was still cold and biting outside. Whilst he himself had clothes his pokemon didn't, well they didn't use to but they did now. Whilst he was in a nearby town he brought some clothing that would fit his pokemon. Nice, warm and apparently tough. That was great because it meant there was no need to keep his pokemon in their balls. He'd rather they were conscious, aware and in their conscious form than in energy and unconscious. The trio trekked through the forest, some snow and ice underfoot but not enough to be dangerous so long as you weren't very reckless. The cold went some way to impede James's sense of smell, yet he could smell the faint scent of flora in the distance hinting at the spring that awaited the trio in the near future. All three of the group had been to the forest before when they met a photographer and on the way out a man looking for berries. But for one member of the group, Herc, had been here his entire life apart from the last week. Whilst he and James were fairly calm, Champ was very excited. His head darted to various places at the sounds, it was exciting for him to hear the forest in the early stages of life preparing to emerge. James came to a clearing, it was the same one he'd camped out at last time. The area showed traces of the snorlax that had trampled through the area, namely a few large footprints that hadn't yet been reverted to the natural state. Well, it was a place that was near a wood supply James had prepared last time he was here, and it was relatively sheltered as clearings go. He wasn't sure if his supply would still be useable, but at the very least he knew places nearby where he would collect more wood. James set to work unpacking his tent, he knew Champ would help out because that was just who he was. But he was surprised to see Herc helping out as well. Between the three of them, they had that tent up in no time at all. The three couldn't help but admire their handiwork, the tent likely looked the exact same as every other person who owns that tent and had built it properly. Yet, theirs wouldn't have the same scuffs or the exact same backdrop to the tent. Funny how things can be identical, yet so different all at the same time. Words: 521 |

Pokemon decloration Roll Alas, the trio couldn't just stand there admiring their work, it would be rather weird to put up a tent without any attempt to use it or anything. Both his Pokemon were on the shorter side which meant they would have had to work harder to keep pace. He didn't race ahead but they still had to work to keep up and despite their energetic personalities, he knew they would need a rest whether they liked it or not. Now the obvious thing to do would be to recall Herc and Champ into their Pokeball's but James had a different idea. The two Pokemon seemed to get on well, so why not leave them together? Either way, Champ was very responsible so he should be able to keep an eye on Herc if he had one of his crazy impul..... James shook his head, he knew he'd struggle to stop Herc if he went on a rampage after something so poor Champ would have his work cut out for him. As good as Herc was being he wasn't going to risk it. James was so lost in thought he didn't even notice almost a minute had passed until Champ tugged on his shirt gently, he looked a little confused. James couldn't help but smile to himself, despite how cold it was outside, he felt warm, because he had his partner here. He crouched down a little, the snow crunching beneath his feet as he came level with his two pokemon and placed his arms around their shoulders "Alright boys, time for rest. Don't worry, as soon as it's ready we can enjoy the campfire together" A smile came to his face as he quickly recalled his Pokemon. It was partly for their benefit and partly because he just looked forwards to the camp fire. James placed a small padlock on the tent, whilst it didn't have anything in it, it would stop any Pokemon getting in there. He knew he wouldn't have to heart to kick a Pokemon out into the cold and depending on how big the pokemon is there might not be room for the both of them. He'd rather not walk back to the village late at night, it'd be rude to wake Martin and Carlos up at the inn, and he'd be quite tired by the end of the day. James was just leaving the clearing when the sound of a branch snapping behind him. He glanced over his shoulder to check if anybody was there. He couldn't see anybody but he could see the broken branch on the floor. It was probably just a small Pokemon that was a bit shy. They were probably still shaken up after the Snorlax incident. Maybe he should scout for some food to give to other Pokemon too? Yeh, why not. You never know when you need an ally and one good deed could well lead to another being returned. But for now, he'd ignore the sound unless it followed him. Words: 503 |
