~ Everlight District ~
Several days ago

Another beautiful sunny day was in progress and enjoyed by the citizens of Kroy. It was like the current season didn't matter here, it was pleasantly warm as various people took to the streets to either enjoy the weather, or their lunch breaks, as a subtle breeze swiped across the streets and faces of the locals. Many a Godian didn't voice it but Delimas was approaching once again, and they were looking forward to the festivities. Each person saw the holiday in a different way as it meant something else for them. For some it was a well earned day of from work, for others a chance to spend time with their family while some had their own unique, or not so unique, views and thoughts on it. And while there would always be some who didn't care for it, in general a lot of people were in a better mood because of it.

Everlight district was not your average Godai city however, but a place with a wild reputation. As part of Kroy and Central it was considered the center of Godai, but more than anything it was known as a place of spectacle and entertainment. Billboards advertising shows, concerts and various events were scattered throughout the streets and buildings. People were handing out fliers and various stands were being set up as part of Delimas. Shopping malls and supermarkets were experiencing a surge of customers and the vast majority of them had sales going on. The culture of pokemon training and battling was particularly strong here, as various small tournaments were being held with prize money and alluring items going out to the winners. There was a definite buzz to this place.

It was filled with life, there was simply no other way to say it. The streets were full, the parking lots were full, there were plenty of cars in the streets but to the locals it was simply business as usual. And in the "craze" filled Everlight district one of its locals rushed past people, his mind clearly not focused on anything in front of him. Several sweat drops formed on his forehead but they remained unattended. Something heavy occupied his mind...

Even though the weather was about as perfect as it could get, it could do little to eliveate the uneasiness in his heart. Delimas wasn't a factor either, for his worries far outweighed such things at the moment. There was simply no room in his head for another thought other than his destination and next move, as said destination slowly manifested before him with each new step. His office was where he was heading. He approached it as fast as he could, passing people around him as if they were street lights or simply objects.

Courtesy wasn't a real factor at that particular time as he bumped into a random person, and continuing to move forward without a moments notice while the other person turned around and yelled out something. They would be out to snap his neck by now. He needed to disappear. And fast... He could

After the stunt his guy just pulled "Queen" was most likely looking to kill him, his buddy Mickey and anyone else involved in this shit show. So the dark haired promoter that went by the name of Romeo had little choice. Even though he was born and raised in Kroy, the local only had two options, none of them really good, but only one that he could realistically pick. Run like any sane man would or stay and find out how quickly hungry Sharpedo swam at you in a small pool, while you had fresh Tauros steak strapped to your head, arms and legs. He respectfully, and in his option quite wisely, picked the former.

Romeo was not exactly a youngster, a man in his 30's with a serious disposition who worked as a fight promoter. Pokemon battles and boxing, but also whatever else he could set up to make money, he would. He even knew some of those rich kids that liked to race. There were certain events that the Godian law and police didn't exactly approve of in the form of underground battles where rather sizable bets could be placed, but those were few and far in between as Romeo exercised caution when putting those events together.

Another aspect of these events in general was that the outcome wasn't always a mystery, especially to some very powerful people, so they naturally stood to make a lot of money while the less informed ones simply lots their money thinking they were unlucky that day. While Romeo made it a point to never partake in "staged" events he was asked to help facilitate such an event. But "his" guy decided he wasn't going to play along when certain words were said, pulled a move he wasn't supposed to and set this whole mess in motion.

And because of some crazy kid the Everlight native had to act fast. He had to get the money from his safe and head for the train station, there was no time for him to go to his apartment anymore. They probably already had someone waiting for him there, and even here wasn't exactly a sure thing but he hoped that he was fast enough and that the Delimas rush would help him out. He just needed a minute...

Luckily he had saved up more than a pretty Dian over the years so a nice vacation up North would do him good. Melka village was nice this time of the year, or so he read somewhere. He just needed to get the money from his safe. Entering from the back Romeo saw that the halls were empty, internally smirking as a light glimmer of hope illuminated his soul.

Quietly he made his way through the empty, and equally quiet hall, seeing the door to his office open. The cleaning lady left it wide open again... Why did he ever hire that old blind bat??? No matter, he had no time to hang around anyway.

He was happy to leave Everlight but he needed money to do so, and in a few seconds he'd have it! Thinking that if he made a sound he would somehow make a mistake Romeo made every effort to remain quiet, his singular goal in life just a few steps away.

Entering the rather messy but familiar office Romeo casually moved a wall painting to the side, revealing a safe hidden behind it. Now he just needed to get the key from the sugar bowl and he could get away from here. Making a couple of steps towards the small kitchen and the cabinet where he kept the tea, alcohol and sugar Romeo didn't smile. It was still to early for that...

Taking out the small bowl with sugar in it the fight promoter, or soon to be ex-fight promoter, pushed his finger inside in search of a very specific item. The key to his safe. His fingers searched the small bowl, quickly finding the object that would allow him to escape this mess of a situation.

"Oink. oink."

A deep but quite familiar voice rung out behind him, startling the already on-edge Romeo and causing him to drop the small bowl of sweetness along with the key and turn around quickly. What he saw was exactly what he feared, two men working for the very person he was trying to escape from. Junior and his knucklehead brother John. "So that's where you keep the sugar." Junior spoke up once more, a satisfied smile spreading over his face as he eyed the key to Romeo's fate and the actual sweetener spread all over the floor.

Both enforcers were intimidating but Junior possibly even more so than John, simply because of how ruthlessly efficient he was at his job and the reputation that he had. His pokemon were very violent, and brutal, and Romeo wasn't sure if his pokemon could hope to even provide him with an opening to escape. But even if he could escape, he still didn't have the money. Damn it, he was stuck.

"What brings you two here? Eh? Run out of old ladies to scare?]" Romeo proclaimed with confidence, in an attempt to hold his ground as he walked towards the two. It was really a futile attempt to pull one over on the two, he knew that and sure enough Junior, and John wouldn't be fooled. They were the ones in control here.

"That sounds like hostility John." Junior spoke once more while his brother simply nodded smiling. "And we don't like hostility Romeo..." Junior added as he stood up with John following suit before he, much like his partner, made a single step towards the outnumbered fight promoter. In that very instant the power dynamic was once again established, forcing Romeo to take back-steps towards the door. He knew it, he was hopelessly outmatched here and if he didn't run right now!

At the moment he was about to make a run for it he felt brushing up on someone from behind and stepping on their shoe. Oh no, was the only thought that he experienced at that moment. A seductive, and familiar, fragrance greeted his nose before he had a chance to confirm with his eyes what his mind already suspected. It was her.

"Hey." A single word made him completely stop his movement and turn around in silence. What he saw was a woman known by her moniker - "Queen". Quite possibly the most attractive woman he ever saw in his life, but equally powerful and dangerous as well. While she was a goddess to the eye, at that moment Romeo saw her more as a devil than anything else. Her features were cold and she did not seem to carry an ounce of happiness or compassion in her entire body. Looking down at her shoe, which Romeo just stepped on, and then at him "Queen" was almost equal in terms of height. Her piercing gaze was mesmerizing as she sported light-brown hair and a lightly tanned complexion. "I just had them polished."

In silence Romeo stood there, unsure of what to say to that. Was he to try and apologize? He knew that wouldn't do him any good. He was done for, wasn't he? What could he possibly say to try and get himself out of this situation, his mind raced to find an answer but to no avail. He just knew he had nothing to bargain with... This was the beginning of the end for him, he just knew it. How he managed to contain his hands from shaking he would never know, but his eyes betrayed him as he was stared down by the "Ice Queen" herself. He saw "Queen's" dark eyes move ever so slightly to his humble kitchen before once again settling on him. She had a gaze like a Staraptor, he thought. "Go and put the kettle on." She declared matter-of-factly motioning with her head ever so slightly towards the spilled sugar bowl.

Romeo's pupils dialited ever so slightly and his tongue reacted on his own. Even in that hopeless situation he still somehow produced that charm and wit that earned him favor with many a lady. "You take sugar?" He asked, but this time he didn't smile. There was simply no room for flattery now, not with this person. Did he just make a huge mistake, he wondered with terror and fear still dominating him.

Ever the serious business woman Queen remained unimpressed, feigning politeness but giving of the aura of an Arbok that was ready to jump out and bite at any moment. "No thank you Romeo. I'm sweet enough..." Turning away from the man known as the charmer who just "screwed" her over the attractive woman walked over and made herself at home on his couch. And even though Romeo was a seasoned gambler and card player he simply couldn't get a read on this woman. He only saw her a handful of times but every time was like this, he was on edge by her presence yet he was in awe of her appearance and assertiveness. There would be no room for him to speak however as Queen took control of the situation with Junior and John remaining quiet from there on but never leaving her side.

"I'm gonna need you to do me a favor Romeo." She said, her hawk like gaze still fixed on the man who went over to prepare some tea as instructed previously. Turning away from her, and her associates, as he poured water inside the kettle the dark haired Romeo could do little than play along at this point. His reply showed that he was dancing to her tune, much like everyone else. "Alright, of course."

Not a second after his reply did a subtle spike in her tone reaffirm her as the dominant one, as if she needed to do so at this point. "Of course, fookin' of course. I wasn't asking, I was telling! Now listen. A very particular girl is going to board the ferry to South Godai after Delimas and you're going to take her for me Romeo. And this time I do mean it. When your phone rings, I don't care if you're sick as a dog or in bed with a Ravensdale girl. When it rings you show up. Now... I know you came here to open your safe. So now that you know I'm not going to snap your neck you can go ahead and open it." Much to his surprise his life was spared. But even so there were no smiles or cries of joy from anyone in the room.

Now he owed them a favor, and these weren't the type of people to forget these things. But to make matters even worse, he had no money at all as he was forced to open the safe and watch Junior put most of the money he saved up in the last decade in a bag and away from him.

Several moments would pass before the narrow hallway was used by the trio of guests to leave the establishment, while Romeo was left in the back after a friendly "goodbye" hug, with Queen holding a rather sizable bag filled with cash. "He's been a busy little bastard that Romeo..." The lone female spoke after getting a rough idea of the funds Romeo accumulated over the years. It was at this moment that John spoke up for the first time in a while, in an attempt to gain favor with the boss.

"I think you let him get away with entirely too much already Queen." Both Queen and Junior looked at the burly man for a brief moment. Junior was her right hand man, yet despite his position he rarely spoke. And for good reason.

"It can get you in a lot of trouble thinking John. I wouldn't do so much of it." It was a throwaway piece of advice, yet invaluable if John was smart enough to listen. Queen didn't wait to see if he got it, she simply moved ahead and assumed he did. Her word was law here. She was glad to be done with this place. She hated having to deal with these sorts of problems, but it was a problem. But damn she be if it wasn't beneath her. "Right, that takes care of one little Tepig. Now Junior, I want you to find the silly sods who..."

She was a busy woman and now she had one more pawn under her thumb.

How dangerous the world had become.

It was a general and broad statement, she thought. It's ambiguity was what made it scary, for every person would find something that scared them. Some feared violence and crime, some the cold, others feared injuries and debt. She at this point feared many a thing, but to put it in one word. She feared the unknown, the thing that was in the shadows that no one could see yet everyone knew was there. It caused her many a nights of frustration and anxiety thinking about it, yet after all this time she knew as much if not less then before. What that meant was that she realized that even the things she thought she knew seemed like they might not be true anymore.

Something cast a large shadow over Godai. Yet the majority of people were blissfully unaware or simply chose to ignore it, which surprised her even more. It was the entity responsible for the mysterious TV broadcast last Delimas. She could only be sure of one thing about them, and that was the name. And even that had people acting strange when it was brought up. It was as if saying just the name out loud or to someone would summon some great evil demon. As far as she could tell many knew the name, but simply chose to pretend like it didn't exist. Was it out of fear of the unknown? She thought so, maybe they were scared of being implicated. Maybe they knew something and kept secrets. It was difficult to tell. Sophie Guilford was at a loss for words when it came to this particular subject.

Nexus. That was the name. The word itself meant it was the core of something, or maybe a link to something else. But what was the group really about? Who were the people that were part of it? Were all those hoodlums in Central and Union true members or just fans? And possibly the most important question that she had, what were they actually up to? What could they possibly have as an objective to warrant hijacking a TV stations' broadcast like they did. There were reports of various small crimes committed that suggested a connection to this shadowy entity but at this point it was all speculation. She couldn't deny or confirm anything, she simply didn't know. It was a frustrating subject for the young woman, and one that she could rarely discuss.

How dangerous their country had become. It was a statement that couldn't be argued. Yet inspite of that fact, she noticed, there were people who smiled. Like the person to her right. Yuri saw the broadcast and unlike many the Shtear native seemed quite relaxed about it. It didn't frighten him like it did other people, yet he didn't try and discard their existence like most did. He accepted that they existed, but didn't seem particularly bothered. And that was an interesting thing to Sophie. Why was he like that?

As her eyes gently settled on the man once more, the thought echoed yet again. She didn't voice it, how could she. Yet inside her very bones she could tell, she knew it. How could she not? It was obvious to anyone with eyesight. He was something different.

Snow white fur shinned bright as a particular creature adjusted its position near the man. Its pristine color drew attention whether the pokemon or its trainer wanted it to but at this point they were more or less used to it. With Absol curled up beside him he sat, deep in thought. The pokemon was the most docile one out of the entire team, like a watchful guardian he stayed by Yuri's side at all times, seeking affection and providing protection. The contrast between the two was evident as a subtle winter breeze made her shiver and snuggle deeper into the jacket she had on, seeking further warmth while the two seemed completely unfazed. It was as if they were a different breed. Looking up at the somewhat gray clouds Sophie had a suspicion that it could very well start snowing soon.

Black and white. Like the moon and the night they sat together, Yuri with his dark hair and beard dressed in a dark brown leather jacket that was lined with fur on the inside and partially the outside as well, and a gray colored sweater while his Absol couldn't be more pristine white in color. Eyeing the duo curiously she felt that it was a visually striking yet interesting contrast. Absol were a rare breed of pokemon and generally seen more as pets for rich socialites to match their pristine white designer outfits and not act as quiet guardians to aspiring trainers from the other end of the continent. But few things seemed to follow the conventional when discussing the level headed Shtear-born.

In a lot of ways to the people of Godai Yuri could be an anomaly. His outlook was different and he was a very "Que Sera, Sera. Whatever will be, will be." type of guy. There was no other way Sophie could go about phrasing it. It just seemed that not a lot of things could disturb his cool. Whatever challenge came his way he rarely seem phased by it, accepting problems without any crying or denial. This intrigued her. Because he was this calm, collected aspiring guy who was super driven to become a successful pokemon trainer, yet when it came time to relax he had no trouble cutting loose and getting along with others. Actually he seemed to get along great with pretty much anyone from what she saw of him.

The two trainers sat together on a bench near the pokemon center in Southwind Seaport, enjoying each others company after not seeing each other for almost two months. Reason being that Sophie had to leave for "research" and in an odd turn of events Yuri decided to stay in Southwind. The port town seemed like it grew on the guy, with him adopting the port town as his temporary home. From what they talked so far it appeared her dark haired friend got a part time job helping out on fishing boats, most notably some old man called Ivan. Sophie figured that Yuri wanted to expand his team with some water pokemon, and probably learn more about pokemon by seeking some ancient wisdom that the fishermen of Southwind had... She didn't really get men and their archaic ways sometimes... All the knowledge a pokemon trainer truly needed was to be found in literature!

Focusing once more on the guy he did appear to be in quite good shape though. Clearly the sea air agreed with him, as she studied the stoic Yuri who had his pokedex placed just beside him, while he fiddled with his holocaster for almost five minutes. He was not a man who usually wasted much time on his personal device around other people, so seeing him tinker with technology struck her as out of the ordinary. It had to have been something important to make him excuse himself and focus on it to the extent of falling completely silent, even though this was their first time seeing each other in quite a while. Oddly enough she liked this newfound interest that Yuri seemed to develop for technology in general. He actually asked her to once again show him how to activate TM's on his pokedex and teach his pokemon new moves. It wasn't a particularly difficult thing to learn but the man wanted to learn so the more experienced female trainer agreed to later show her junior how to use this particular aspect of the pokedex, once more. But he was still on his holocaster at that particular point, which intrigued her. What could possibly keep him occupied for so long? So she did what any normal woman would do, she satisfied her curiosity by doing the obvious and simply asked.

"Hello hello. Earth to Yuri. What are you so interested in?"

On the other end of the bench Yuri was deep in his own little world. Many an app was open on his holocaster as he eagerly awaited the end results. It was not until he heard the familiar female voice that he seemed to snap out of it and get sucked back into the cold afternoon winds of Southwind Seaport. Big brown eyes broke contact with the active device as it revealed some incoming information to the aspiring pokemon trainer.

Mail #1 - Horsea

A bright smile manifested on his face as he turned towards the girl, still unaware of the arrival of yet another pokemon to his team. "Damn it's getting quite chilly out here. Maybe we should go inside soon? Maybe recall our pokemon as well? Although they do seem like they're having fun." Obviously Yuri didn't mean Absol as well. The snow-white furred creature was quite at home in such weather and Yuri could tell by how comfortable his pokemon was that there was no need to recall it. Both trainers did let some of their pokemon outside to play on the nearby sandy beach, with Yuri letting his entire team run wild other than the egg that was neatly placed in his backpack, while Sophie only let "Cotton" the Azurill out to play with Yuri's Scyther as the two seemed to become fast friends after having previously fought one another.

Hearing his holocaster light up and start to ring Yuri instinctively turned back to look at the device before commenting out loud. "Oh sweet. The Horsea I offered to adopt over the GTN just arrived... and my bet also paid out. Neat!~" One would never assume by the tone of his voice that it was a significant amount he won just now but such was his nature, a naturally adept poker player who was quite decent at not giving away much unless he wanted to or was asked...

ゆめ なら たくさん みた

Southwind Seaport. It had been half a year ago that she first crossed Shoaltide Path on foot, something she had discovered was quite a feat for a rookie such as herself, and that trek had been launched from the very same location she found herself at now. She'd spent the past few months here, staying at hostels on the days she wasn't carrying packages to and fro north and south Godai.

She still had not picked up the habit of staying in contact with the people she met, although she admittedly hadn't had opportunities to genuinely become interested in anyone anyways. Heia and Pano gave her plenty of company, and the two had formed their own friendship as well.

She mused over the thought as her fingers wrapped around chopsticks that dabbled at freshly sliced fish over rice. Poke was food from her homeland, a name which she knew somehow was out of place, although pokemon were called something else in her language. She picked up a ponzu coated slice of salmon and furikake and plunged it into her mouth happily.

She'd changed over the past few months. She'd stopped looking forward to late nights blowing money on events she'd just as quickly forget, but that wasn't to say she'd become any better at saving. Her irises were now blood red, courtesy of the contacts she now wore, and she'd started collecting a new wardrobe. She had no real place to keep anything, so it was mostly knick knacks here and there - delicate black-mesh gloves, a new choker, a black skirt and mid-thigh socks. Just as always, she stood out in a crowd, and it was not something she was unaccustomed to. She'd always been able to ignore the kids that pointed her out to their parents, or the stares of guys (and girls) who'd admire what they wanted.

Maybe she'd always craved the attention? Her freshly dyed, bright violet hair still contrasted with the dark, thick hair she'd been born with. A bang covered an eye and, as she plunged another chunk of fish into her mouth, she wondered if that, too, should change.

Life had a funny way of plodding along, she mused as she put aside the cosmetic thoughts. Every moment led to another, and whether it was 'good' or 'bad' it was still there. To live was to exist, but to exist wasn't to live. You had to really be there for those moments, make the best of them. Or so she thought, putting down another piece of sushi. She needed to keep her eyes open for those doors, those opportunities that she couldn't let pass her by. She'd let that happen too often. She'd become tired of being the girl that avoided her future, the girl that tried to stop time. She looked up, the flash of her crimson eyes bearing down the alleyway, looking for nothing and yet everything. She slammed back another piece of sushi before even swallowing the first, her cheeks puffing out like a stuffed chipmunk, and her lips curled into a content smile.

As Delimas relentlessly approached their reunion continued. The city lights turned on, illuminating the streets and sidewalks as the night came, even though it was only around five in the afternoon. And even though few people liked this change, it was a definite sign of winter beginning. And as such the two young trainers decided to retreat back to the pokemon center behind them, leaving the bench that housed them for a little bit. Recalling her Azuril back into its pokeball Sophie smiled as she looked over at Yuri who tried to round up his team. He seemed quite giddy about acquiring the water type pokemon Horsea. And she had to agree, it was a cute pokemon and not really Yuri's style but maybe the duo could make it work.

Opposite her Yuri was trying to round up the gang, waiting for everyone to run back to him while he prepared their pokeballs. His team was a rowdy one, no argument there but they were growing up and settling down a bit. He got the feeling that they matured a bit, in that now they were starting to learn more about the Shtear native that was their owner and how he went about things. When Yuri called, they showed. Looking over the rather vast beach Yuri Sharp took a moment to observe his team before putting them back into the comforts of their homes. He kinda wanted to let them out more but it was sort of rude to let ones pokemon, at least more than one, run about when inside a pokemon center. At least that was the rule that Nurse Cerice enforced on all trainers, so he kind of had to obey it. For the most part that pokemon was Absol for him, just because it was the most docile out of his current line up.

Seeing Pidgey and Starly play around in the air was a treat for the trainer, as the two seemed to get into little races and try to out-speed each other at every turn. A little healthy competition was always good, and Yuri made sure to pay attention that it stayed at that. He didn't want things escalating and the two birds possibly fighting. But so far there seemed no reason for alarm as it was just the two flying pokemon racing against one another with things being quite even for the most part. Back on the ground just where the waves ended, and furthest from Yuri, Charmeleon stood eyeing the horizon with great intensity as she unleashed furious embers of fire, one after another. She was doing her own type of training, seeking further growth and power. She really was the most intense one out of everyone there and her desire to be a more capable battler rubbed off on everyone else it seemed. Because Yuri could clearly remember a time when all the little rascals did was sit in the living room next to the heater and snuggle.

Scyther was somewhere in between in terms of personality. Serious and battle hungry, but not quite as much as Charmeleon, he was also immature and fun loving like Pidgey. He was also the youngest hatched member of the team so many of his tendencies could be forgiven, as the trainer figured that he'd grow out of them with time. The Scyther was a bit special to the trainer, in that it wasn't a pokemon Yuri received or caught in the wild like all the others but rather got the egg from a friend and took care of it until it hatched. So he raised and knew the pokemon ever since it was born and that only strengthened their bond. The flying Mantis pokemon was making his way to Charmeleon, no doubt intent on joining the team leader in his training but such actions would have to wait as a sharp whistle was executed by the aspiring trainer. "Assemble Assemble my monsters!!! Shit it's cold." Yuri jokingly said, unsure if the creatures could comprehend his attempt at humor while he complained to no one in particular about the freezing climate.

"Language!" But from the back a certain someone apparently objected to his choice of words, appearing shocked at Yuri and his vocabulary.

Yuri was unimpressed however, turning around briefly. "Really?" Before he turned back and sought to continue his initial task of round up the little ones. "His children" one might say... well fire breathing pets was more accurate. Which he kept inside tiny balls because screw keeping them on a leash, that was just cruel. "We're gonna talk about this later princess. Don't sulk, I'll be back in a sec. I just need. Hey! Scyther don't eat the sand! Pidgey leave that alone!" Red beams flashed everywhere as the trainer started recalling the little monsters back into their pocket sized balls.

"Ohhhhh! Now I get it. Pocket-mooons..." Damn, was that what the term meant? He never knew that! But anyway, back to the plot! In a bit of a surprise twist Absol was the first one to get called back, with everyone but Scyther joining him in being called back to their little comfy homes. Yuri had an idea in mind for the green Mantis and it wasn't for the pokemon to give him a haircut... this time. Because that was what Scyther kinda went for most of the time, even though his intention was just to get some huggs in. That was actually why Sharp got his hair cut.

With the temperature dropping further and night just beginning it was decided that they would hangout more inside the pokemon center near the beach. Southwind Seaport was handy like that, having a pokemon center just next to the beach. It was also reasonably close to the fish market, which in turn meant that Yuri didn't have to walk long to get to "work". Even though he was kind of done already since Ivan was retiring. Walking back inside with Scyther by his side Yuri smirked as his body felt the warmth, once again relaxing as Sophie and he sought to sit down a bit. Another productive day with the holidays just around the corner. Receiving the Horsea was an early Delimas present, and it reminded Yuri that he needed to send out some gifts as well. As part of the GTN's Delimas day he decided to participate this year and send out Chinchou.

"Alright then. Let's do this TM thing again. Scyther, just stand there and don't move, ok? Time to see if this works... You're gonna learn to... well basically just spin really fast without getting dizzy. But it's super cool and effective against ghosts and such so no worries. Sophie? Little supervision so I don't accidentally blow up anyone with this magic." Looking over at the girl Yuri was surprisingly chipper even though it was freezing outside. Which wasn't be a surprise to anyone who lived near large bodies of water. Like on cue the dark haired girl joined him, coming closer as to be able to see the screen as well before Yuri added.

"I didn't exactly read the manual for this, but here goes." It seemed pretty straight-forward, going through the options menu before Yuri just picked the TM options menu on his pokedex, selected the lone TM he owned which was the dark-type move 'Brutal Swing' and pressed the screen twice. "Easy peezy." He declared jokingly and pointed the device at his pet monster that was Scyther. All the while Sophie kept a keen look at what was happening and nodding to assure the man that he was on the right track. After all, she would hate it if he somehow launched a nuclear missile strike by mistake! Hehe, silly man.

Seeing the device, that was Yuri's pokedex, light up and emit a curious light projection onto the Scyther both humans looked on with glee and fascination in their eyes as they saw one of the marvels of current technology. It was always a treat for the eyes, seeing that particular function of the pokedex. As far as Yuri was concerned that was really the only thing the red coaster was good for. He didn't really use it all that much to scan pokemon, well read about them since he basically got all his info from the internet anyway.

But at that moment both humans were quiet, marveling at how Scyther looked. The light show ended promptly however, with Sophie returning to take a seat after taking of her coat. "Well there you go. All done! Scyther learned the move, Brutal Swing! You're welcome!~" Yuri on the other hand was more curious about his pokemon at that moment, studying him a bit closer as he tossed his pokedex on the couch, right next to his backpack.

"Oh wow Scyther, I think you grew a bit. Yeah yeah, you're taller. Look stronger too. Wanna show me that move now? Spin like a top, was it? Brutal swing, go! But just a little bit, let's not break half of this place... again." It was from there on that the trio relaxed and laughed even more. Scyther attempted to perform the attack but only ended up spinning around and getting dizzy as a result. He needed a minute after that, while Yuri and Sophie sat down and continued to talk.

They talked more about where they were in life and their plans for the future, with Sophie stating that she had plans to travel South once again. She didn't voice some of her thoughts, mainly the idea of maybe traveling with the witty and carefree Mr. Sharp. He on the other hand had quite the eventful couple of months. Much of which he shared but the topics always seemed to come back around to pokemon.

"So it's called Absolite." About an hour later Yuri commented holding a gem in his pocket and studying it with great interest. Due to the rules of the center, he eventually called out Absol once more, since Scyther wasn't exactly the best of pokemon to have in a closed space. He did give his new move a try but it very much looked like they would have to invest some more training into learning it. Therefore "Snow White" once again made an appearance, while "Edward Scizorhands" went back to rest up a bit. And it quickly became apparent how much Yuri and Absol got along as the dark type quickly settled down beside his trainer, while the human responded by proceeding to pet it while he spoke. "So when I get that brace... necklace... No, Key Stone! When I get that thing I can use this to Mega Evolve Absol. Awesome, but in order to be able to buy one I need two gym badges... Laaaaaame..." That would take him forever! He wanted to sulk! He wanted to own a Mega too!

On the other end of the room Sophie sat, ever amused and smiling, eyeing her fellow trainer as he feigned despair. He was developing fast and she wasn't exactly sure if he himself knew it. The reason why she stated that were his results. Developing a team like this was admirable, and he was still very young into his career. It was then that she heard her phone ring due to a message, before proceeding to read it. Apparently it was not meant to be a long reunion. Her expression didn't change much but her plans did as a result of reading it. She didn't see it right away but Yuri was curious about what was going on. "Yeah, change of plans Big Guy. Seems like I'm being sent to Melka Village, have to be in Union tomorrow morning."

"Oh wow. So you have to leave now?" It was a logical question on his part, given the information provided by the young woman. Seeing as Sophie had to be in Union in the morning she would probably have to go home and pack soon. What he didn't know was that she was a protector of Godai, one who could not abandon her duty. The young woman looked back at him. Secrets and Lies, she had and used them. He didn’t seem to… and for that she envied him. His was a purer and more honest life, she concluded. And as she was about to tell him goodbye something interesting happened, in that the pokemon egg in Yuri's backpack started shaking and actually started breaking. It was hatching, both of them thought! Scrambling to unzip the item both Yuri and Sophie were greeted by a new arrival. A brand new purple Nidoran!

Snuggling up with the little guy it was decided that Sophie would stay for a while longer, even if only for an hour. She couldn't just pack up and leave when this happened! What a cutie, both noted with smiles on their faces as they welcomed the tiny pokemon into the world. It seemed Yuri had hatched two eggs in his career so far. "Congratulations. You're a two time poke-daddy now." It was such a dear and light joke that no one could really not get it.

"Thanks, I guess I am." The man could only smile and nod in agreement. Yet another pokemon joined his ranks, bringing the total up to ten! And how could this event go by without his pokemon?! It couldn't! And so in a blatant violation of the, unofficial, rules Yuri went ahead and released all of his pokemon inside the pokemon center. "Ok, so you guys have to promise me to be really quiet or I might have to sleep outside tonight and I really don't want to do that... but anyway here's our newest addition. Nidoran."

His pokemon believed in him, she could tell, for they were out of the pokeballs and yet not a single sound was made by the little heathens. All five of them patiently sat, around the freshly-hatched pokemon, and observed it and their leader. It was almost as if they saw Yuri as the leader of the pack, their trust in him was undeniable...

"We got the egg in a sort of bet... but... now that I look at him and you. I can't take him. He's your egg..." Sophie caught herself melting over the little guy and as a result was very much unprepared for Yuri's comment. Was he seriously considering to give back the little guy to her? But she couldn't accept that. No, no, no...

The two debated back and forth for a bit with Sophie refusing to take away the little guy, and Yuri not giving up. It was eventually decided to that if Yuri wanted to give it back he could make someone else's trainer journey happier, like his was with Horsea. The discussion went on for more than an hour before the two went on to execute this joint decision and say their goodbyes afterwards.

The next morning she was on her way to Union, right on time for her debriefing. Sitting and enjoying the warmth of the car, underneath the metal roof that valiantly protected her from the elements was a somewhat educational experience. Sitting in the back she reflected on the events of last night.

This man, Yuri, intrigued her. There was no other way of putting it. There was something intangible to him. A quality that she could not name, or point out. Yet she was so aware that he had it. In her opinion he was a textbook example of his zodiac sign, the "Milotic". Ambitious yet intelligent, curious but steady. The fish represented passion, spirituality, intuition, and connection with the soul. And somehow she felt that applied to him.

He embraced the chaos that was his life, and moved forward relentlessly He actually told her, as they were saying their goodbyes, that he would buy a car in a day or two. Even now that made her laugh. She wasn't sure how he saw himself, but she was aware that he thought about a lot of things differently. And add to that his pokemon believed in him.

It didn't stop there however, as the guy enjoyed the TIS' backing as well, in the form of pay and items as well. Receiving a package through the PC, in the form of rare candy and vitamins Sophie continued to be surprised by Yuri's development. He was certainly a promising trainer and hopefully they would meet again.

She wished him well.

OOC Note: Yuri sent Nidoran and Chinchou to the GTN's Delimas program. Updated pokemon declaration in next post. Scyther learned TM - Brutal Swing.

Pokemon Declaration

Another Delimas ended, and the country of Godai and the world moved on and returned to normal. With the passing of the holiday things everywhere seemed to calm down quite a bit. The massive crowds and traffic jams subsided, people seemed less on edge about their shopping, gifts and celebrations, and just one walk around Southwind of Everlight confirmed that. Things were very much back to normal, if even that. Everything seemed quiet, even more so than usual. Just days after Delimas, and the parting with Sophie, Yuri was busy walking through the main street of Southwind Seaport, Absol by his side as usual. Wearing a dark brown leather jacket over a black sweater and jeans, and a black beanie, the Shtear native found himself properly dressed for the cold weather that he found himself in. There were also a few accesories on his his person in the form of a black watch and black shades. It was a clear day with not a cloud in the sky, but quite chilly nonetheless with cold winds sweeping the streets. It was winter time after all, but for people used to harsh winters this was nothing to worry about. Certainly it was around the freezing mark, as far as temperature went but Yuri's found that having a beard helped isolate some of the cold. His nose did feel the cold winter air every time he breathed in.

His morning workout was done hours ago, and now he had a business of a different kind in mind. He too had been visited by Deliclause and this year too made some rather interesting gains, as far as presents went. There was also a fair bit of drinking and singing involved, but on that note the only thing he lost was his voice. But after a day or two things returned to their regular state. A change that was more permanent in nature was the departure of two of his pokemon: Chinchou and Nidoran. Entering into the GTN-run program of "Wonder Trading", that's how he chose to call it anyway, Yuri gave away two of his pokemon and brought the total count back to eight. He'd probably miss the chipper Chinchou more but he was aware that he never really saw the little guy and truth be told she wasn't really a fighter to begin with. Nidoran was so young that he'd probably forget all about Yuri in a week. Hopefully they would find good trainers and have a happy journey together. He wished them that from the bottom of his heart.

With the lack of Chinchou and Nidoran it was time for a shake up of Yuri's team. Normally Yuri would have added Horsea and Mareep to the line up but given the gifts he received there was a reason he decided to go another way, at least for today. He did meet the two newcomers, albeit briefly all things considered. No, now his team was rounded out by the addition of Fletchling. "Guess the original bird trio is back together. At least for the day." It had been quite some time since the red feathered bird saw some action and Yuri was certain that the little fella would welcome the opportunity. Enthusiasm was high today.

One of the reasons he walked through this particular part of town was that he went out to buy a small jewelry box. After this Delimas it was obvious that he needed one, and not just for his watches, for he received an extremely valuable item in the form of another Mega Stone. Holding the Scizorite in his pocket Yuri was absolutely thrilled to receive it, from a person with a rather peculiar last name, Martini Ravensdale. This meant that he now had two Mega Stones, one for Absol and one for Scizor. Luckily enough he received an item called a Metal Coat as well, which was important because Scythers required those in order to evolve. So naturally Yuri planned to use that to evolve his pokemon as soon as possible. His metal coat was in his backpack much like the technical machines he received as gifts.

He actually received the bug TM's "U-Turn" twice and the flying TM "Aerial Ace"! He was absolutely ecstatic about both, but certainly he had a personal preference for the flying type attack. The brilliant part about it was that his entire team could, and would, learn that move. That was actually the reason why Fletchling was added to the team and Pidgey stayed. He wasn't exactly sure what to do with the second U-turn but so far he figured he'd sell it at a store of give it to someone for next Delimas. Along with several absolutely amazing starf berries, again courtesy of Miss Ravensdale, Yuri saw himself have more luggage by the day.

As if that wasn't enough the TIS, along with his pay, decided to reward him with two vitamins, a Calcium and a Carbos, and two items called Rare Candy. That was what actually made him decide to seriously start looking for a car to buy. Or at least rent one. He just had way too much stuff to travel on foot, be they clothes or pokemon items.

Today the man had a plan however. He was going to teach the two TM's to his team and train both moves with all of them. It was his experience that TM required more training and effort in order to be viable in competition. But that was the point of the upcoming training, and besides it would hardly be any fun if everything was effortless.

Other than that his intent was to get some food for lunch and then visit Ivan at the market before heading back to the pokemon center. So all in all, he had a fun day ahead of him. Little did he know just how fun it would be. Walking by his side Absol raised his head and curiously looked around, his crimson red eyes scanning the environment keenly for he sensed something.

She dropped her jaw, and almost the glass of water, when she spotted him. Southwind Seaport wasn't a place she expected to see a face she recognized, and though she hadn't known him for long, he was probably the closest thing she had to a friend. No more missed opportunities, she told herself. She slammed her hand down onto the table, delivering the amount of money required to pay for the meal with a vengeance, and bolted from her seat.

Moments later, the girl burst forth from the doors of the sushi restaurant, surging into the street and twirling to a stop in front of the guy she recognized. Or, that's how it went in her head at least. She planted her right foot, wobbled, shook her arms to keep balance, and hesitantly planted the other foot. She waited a second to make sure she wasn't going to fall over, then grinned at him.

"Hmm!" she threw her arms out, as if to gesture that she wouldn't allow him to take a further step, then flushed red. She had this whole great idea on how to say hi, but... shit. What was his name again?

Her arms fell to her side and she wiggled a the tip of her foot into the ground nervously, trying to think of something to say. "Uh... hi. How's, um, Ben?"

It wasn't a busy street by any stretch of the imagination. Although there were several coffee places and restaurants along the street, as well as various shops and businesses there were surprisingly few people to see. Meaning that Yuri, and Absol, pretty much sporadically passed someone but even so never really had to mind their step or anything. Yuri did usually pay attention to such things when walking around, just so his pokemon wouldn't get freaked out by the masses. Although it was worth noting that Southwinds' Main street wasn't busy even when it was busy, at least when compared to big cities like Union, Cadence or Dianette. There just weren't that many people around to make it feel crowded. During summer maybe, but even then Yuri heard that the main street would be shut down for a few hours. It was just a nice cozy town to live in, although some might argue that it could get a bit dull. Ok, quite dull if an exciting lifestyle was what one was looking for.

There weren't lots of sports cars or clubs around, although Yuri did learn of several bars and restaurants that had both reasonably priced food but more importantly liquor. Plenty or it, and not expensive either! Perfect for a round or six before going out to a club, or twelve before going straight to bed. One thing that was also worth noting was the fact that the people were very much quiet and hospitable as well.

It was at exact moment that he noticed Absol stop dead in his tracks and raise his head, looking all around him and obviously searching for something. Who got his attention, the trainer wondered. "What is it Absol? Who did you see?" Was it a pokemon? A change in the weather maybe? By this time Yuri had learned to trust in Absol's sense of weather. For whatever reason, without fail, whenever a storm or bad weather approached Absol reacted or just behaved odd. Similarly to how he was now, although not quite the same. Usually he'd look up into the sky and try to sniff it out. Now he seemed to be looking around more, as if he smelled a pokemon. In which case it was probably a pet of some local.

And just as Yuri was about to call the dark type over and be on his way something peculiar happened. A petite young girl denied him passage! Appearing from out of nowhere she run up to Yuri, which he totally didn't see coming, stopped in front of him and spread her arms out like she wanted a hug or something. At first sight she appeared a stranger. "Ahhhhh great. She's probably gonna try and sell me something. I don't need it lady, I got my own problems with luggage! Or maybe she wanted a hug... as if..." A dark palette dominated her entire being with thick black hair, with violet highlights on the bangs, partially covering her face. She was very pretty though, although she did have a rather unique stare.

Unique in that when Yuri's hazelnut eyes settled on the soulful irises of the girl, Crimson Red eyes peered into him and at first caught him of guard. Who was this person, the thought echoed inside his mind. Instantly she seemed familiar but it was the outfit that threw him of. Long elegant black-mesh gloves covered her hands and arms, a choker around her neck complimented by a black skirt and mid-thigh socks along with a crop top of similar color. Her stomach was revealed, showing of an athletic build but also the fact that she was not really dressed for this kind of weather. It was winter, damn it!

At first she seemed hesitant to speak, her expression unsure of what to say although that could very well have been just the cold air embracing her. She certainly would feel it, if she didn't already. Yuri, on the other hand, was a bit caught of guard by the whole situation, almost wanting to ask if she was lost and needed directions. But before he could do so a question was posed, one that only certain people would know.

And then it dawned on him. The purple highlight! And form of her face and those eyes! The petite frame and the attitude! She knew who this was! Saaya, although he didn't remember the last name. But yes, how could he forget! The girl that months ago helped his Uncle to the hospital. It all happened in Union but certain aspects of the incident were very much ingrained in his memory. Months may have passed but she was still very much a friend to the aspiring trainer.

He considered her a friend for what she did for him and his family, she was also a fellow trainer! The lips moved, forming a bearded smile as his eyes seem to light up as well! Promptly removing his shades Yuri Sharp spread his arms out for a warm embrace. His voice erupting in a deep joyous rumble. "Well I'll be damned, good to see you Saaya!" Moving in for a big ol' Shtear hug Yuri was obviously happy to see a familiar face!

"How have you been? Ben's great, back home in Union. Still managing the restaurant as usual. He asks me from time to time when you're gonna come visit. But fancy that, running into you here of all places. What are you up to? How's the Cubone? Or wait, aren't you cold? Wanna go sit down somewhere?" There were a bunch of questions to choose from, but a dominant impression was that Yuri was very much glad to see her. It was impressive that she spotted him after so long, given the fact he had a full beard and also cut his hair as well.

But boy oh boy, did the day take a turn for the better!

The was something she wasn't expecting. The cool air gusted through the main street and between the buildings which served like a funnel, and brushed past her midriff, sending a chill up her spine. Before she could begin shivering, the furry looking man wrapped her in his arms, confirming what she had suspected. This was... the guy. She cursed herself in her head as he shook and squeezed her. She needed to find a smooth way to figure out his name again.

It's warm here, she thought to herself. Her arms darted out and crawled under her jacket, holding him close, and she curled up against him.

"I've been good," she mumbled out from underneath his arms. It was a warm leather jacket with a fur interior, made even warmer by the man who wore it, and it felt nice. She almost didn't hear any of the other questions. "Heia is doing good, he's cold, though."

She hesitated for a moment before loosening her grip. The hug had definitely gone on long enough to begin feeling awkward, but she hesitated to let go. "I... forgot my jacket." She pulled away, looked up at the man, and cocked her head with a coy smile, "Can I use yours for a bit?"

It was always great to run into someone like this, although for Yuri in was a somewhat rare occurrence in Godai given the fact that he was from a different country. The spontaneous nature of the meet and the fact that Saaya saw him first made her even more endearing to the burly Shtearean. Hugging was a sign of an internation custom but for Yuri's people it was something special. It showed plenty of things, like a handshake did.

Saaya hadn't changed much physically. Still very much lithe, she snuggled up against Yuri in a way that only a woman could. The bearded trainer didn't say anything more, but he knew it. The cold was bothering her, how could it not! The embrace lasted however long it lasted and once it broke so did the silence between the two with Saaya's positive aura shinning through as her chipper voice broke the silence and monotony of Southwind yet again. As it turns out she was doing well, although that was more or less a standard reply for any person answering that question. People in Godai had this slightly odd custom to always reply that they were good, while back in the motherland Yuri was accustomed to a slightly different culture. Answering that question there sometimes meant a ten minute long chat would ensue, as people would go on to reply to the question in earnest.

But her tone seemed genuine and she seemed happy as she looked at him, not breaking eye contact for even a moment. She did give of signals that she was cold all over, her body twitching slightly from the cold as even the coastal town of Southwind could ignore the Godian winter completely. For that they would have to be even further South, like Brilaya coast.

"Obviously, she's cold. Let me..." Just as he was about to offer her his jacket the slightly younger trainer spoke up about that very same subject, noting that maybe she could for a while borrow his jacket. To which the bearded trainer, obviously, had no objections. His reply came in the form of a smile. "Of course. Here you go. As if you needed to ask." Removing the unzipped jacket was a quick affair, as Yuri left the majority of his documents and devices inside their pockets before proceeding to put it on the attractive foreigner.

"How did that happen though? Were you in South Godai and got surprised by the winter?" It was a somewhat fair question he figured, given the request he just accepted. She might find the jacket a bit heavy, that was true, but she would also find it very comfortable and most importantly warm! So the man was fairly certain that there would be no complaints on her end. As far as he was concerned he'd endure a bit of cold. As the old men said, cold builds character.

Once the petite Saaya was dressed for the weather Yuri figured she would relax more and they could actually talk. "There we go. Better now?So tell me. Are you in any rush? Let me buy you lunch or at least a drink. We really should catch up." Big smile on his face, hands on his hips. The man seemed completely unfazed by the weather. "You want my beanie as well?" He was laughing a bit as he posed the question, but he was candid in his offer. Obviously if the girl was cold he'd have no trouble borrowing her a few items for a time.

Now the only pressing question was. Where would they go to sit down?

She flooded into the jacket, her fingers struggling to poke out from the arms. She curled into the warmth of it, wrapping herself for a moment and smiling. She was about to say something when she breathed in the air. The jacket smelled... nice.

She didn't want to say anything, but instead looked down and struggled with the zipper for a moment before sealing herself inside the fuzziness. It was long, too long for a girl her size, and it looked as if she was wearing nothing but high socks and the jacket. She zipped up further, until the lips of the hood were close to her face, and she discreetly closed her eyes and sucked in a deep breath, filled with the smell. She almost purred before snapping her eyes open, "I, uh... um..." She rubbed her hand against the back of her head and blushed. "I don't really know where it went."

She pointed towards the sushi place, or rather, she lifted an arm up and waggled a finger hidden completely by the long arms of the jacket. "I just finished eating," she turned back to him and smiled, "so, do you want ice cream?" Nevermind that it was cold, or that ice cream wasn't a popular dessert in the winter, she wanted what she wanted, and who didn't enjoy catching up over sweets? She grabbed his hand before he could answer and dragged him down the street, knowing exactly where she wanted to go, her shiny black, faux-leather mary jane shoes leading the way.

"What brings you to Southwind?" she asked, letting go of his hand when she was confident he'd follow along on his own. She wanted to ask why he'd never called her since when she realized his name was probably buried in her phone. She sneaked her fingers into a custom-made pocket built into the inside lip of her skirt, snatched her phone out, and started to flip through the address book.

From where Yuri was standing, seeing Saaya put on his jacket was nothing short of adorable. Not only was she someone whom he considered a friend but she now had an air of positivity that he didn't recall her having the last time they saw each other. Whether that could be attributed to Yuri's memory being bad or other factors was of no matter, for he fully supported this change. She just seemed more comfortable in her own skin and it put Yuri at ease. Also the fact she wore a jacket intended for a person almost a hundred pounds heavier than her only served to made her more endearing.

What Yuri didn't think about was that aside from providing Saaya with protection against the cold he also shared something else. His scent and also fragrance... Spicy and warm notes supplemented the smell and mixed deeply with the soft woolen insides of the jacket. A woody smell, mixed with a slight hint of tobacco and Amber was absorbed by the jacket as well. Yuri's was a man who would rarely be caught slipping when it came to such matters. Holding his shades in his hand he observed the mumbling mess of cuteness and enthusiasm that was the former Rave Girl. His current impression of her style was, honestly, that of a Lolita girl. Maybe goth, but she wasn't edgy enough for that, nor did she quite strike him as a victorian style lady. That was just his first impression from the brief look he got of her.

Placing his thumbs inside his jeans pockets the much taller trainer observed the girl as she went on to explain that she wasn't sure where he jacket was, and also share the fact that she just ate. Absol was of course quite overwhelmed by all of that and just observed the development with great intrigue. Seeing Yuri light up like that confirmed to the pokemon that this person was the same one he met all those moons ago. She was different back then, but still the scent of her soul didn't change. She did change though, much like the white furred pokemon that studied her.

The bearded Shtearean kept Absol in his peripheral to a degree but mostly focused on what, or who, was in front of him. The proposition of ice cream was actually something that he could, and would, never deny. Chocolate, and snickers, ice cream reigned supreme in his heart and there would never come a day when he would deny himself those! "Of course I want to! But is there a place around that sells it? I haven't..." Before there was a chance to actually conclude his reply he found himself interrupted by the girl pulling him forward with a big smile.

Holding a backpack in one hand now Yuri swung it over his left shoulder as he pushed himself forward and after the stylish female. Saaya Kalili may not have been prepared for the Godai winter, but she most certainly had plenty of style. Her hair immaculately styled, purple bangs swaying in unison as she continued to pull him forward. "Well I've been here for a few months now actually. Traveling to South Godai to challenge the gyms, and get away from the winter as well. I've actually worked on fishing boats here for a few months now, learned about water pokemon and such. Did a bunch of diving and such. I'll tell you all about it when we sit down."

As the pace of the brief "run" went down and the two found themselves walking side by side Yuri allowed himself to continue talking. "Also did a bit here, a bit there. Had some fun, trained my pokemon too." Of course Absol was by his side at all times, the pokemon never even making a sound as it moved just a step behind its trainer. "What about you though? We haven't talked in months. What are you up to these days? Still traveling the world or did you settle down already?" The Saaya that he used to know seemed like the kind of person that would never settle down, but also she seemed like someone who was unhappy with who she was as well.

This Saaya, although a bit uncertain seemed genuinely happy and comfortable with herself. Yuri had to admit that so far he found her to be a doll.

She quickly tucked her phone away before it seemed rude, making a point to look and smile at Absol as she tucked it away so as to conceal what she had done. Yuri, the name definitely rang a bell. She wrapped the lip of the jacket around her face again, smelling it while Yuri talked to her, telling him about his goals. Though he couldn't see her smile, her eyes still reflected her happiness at listening to him talk. She put the lip of the jacket down as they approached the parlor.

She stopped in front of it, knowing he'd stop next to her. "We're here," she nodded to the sign, opening the door and motioning for him to follow. "Mostly just side jobs," she said, not going into much detail. In truth, her life was going nowhere, and she didn't really have a plan for it, but she was confident it would pick up soon.

She walked up to the glass container and looked at the colorful bins containing sugary dairy products and exhaled fervidly, fogging up the glass. So many flavors! She put her palms on the cold glass and scanned around and the lady behind the counter smiled as she approached.

"Yes! I... mean. I'd like a cone, with three scoops!"

The lady raised an eyebrow at the tiny girl in the oversized jacket. "Okay."

"Cotton candy, uh... cheesecake! Oh, and cookies and cream!"

"Any toppings?" the woman asked politely.

Saaya scanned the jars atop the counter filled with all sorts of extras, everything looked tasty. One jar, though, caught her attention. Her eyes widened and, without a word, she extended an arm and put a single finger atop the jar. "This," she said, pointing to colored mochi balls.

The woman must have been slighly concerned about how to put all of this into a cone without creating a disaster, but she did so successfully - nay, even masterfully! Saaya readied a plastic card and nodded to the lady, "Whatever he wants, too."

For the male trainer it was a relatively short but, still, pleasant walk to the parlor. Catching up with his fellow trainer had been quite fun so far even though their conversation was sorta all over the place, with various topics being touched upon but never really explored any further. But as Saaya commented on the fact that she did mostly just side-jobs Yuri made a mental note about the fact that Saaya wasn't exactly, what his Uncle would call, a "big talker". She did seem happier overall, it wasn't difficult to see. She smiled more and seemed to relax around him quickly, but somehow he still got the impression that something was on her mind.

She did offer a reply to most questions she was asked but Yuri couldn't help but feel that every answer she'd given contained only the bare minimum of information. And while that did seem to be the case, Yuri could also see it being something different in that maybe she still needed to relax around him or maybe she was still cold and needed to warm up. Either way they inevitably arrived at their designated place. "Kudos for finding this place Saaya..." Entering the humble establishment Yuri took a few looks around before joining Saaya's side with the intention of ordering something.

The first one to order was of course Saaya, stepping forward and pressing her hands against the glass as she declared her flavors of choice. Yuri would have advised against it as it was just rude, to touch the glass but by then it was already too late and would only embarrass her. But in the end he saw the cashier say nothing so he too said nothing. "And for you Sugar?" The nice lady addressed him next prompting Yuri take a closer look at the various flavors and inspect what flavors he'd treat himself to. "Chocolate, snickers and hazelnut in a bowl, please."

With a big smile the woman poured Yuri a bunch of a ice cream. "Any toppings?" And it was at that moment that Yuri's true character shinned through, as he smirking jabbed back. "Yes. All of them." Grinning like a literal kid in a poor attempt to contain his happiness Yuri soon found himself walking towards an open table alongside Saaya. He ordered a sundae because ice cream was delicious, and ice cream at this time of year was just something special.

Sitting down there was a moment of silence from Yuri. Curiously studying the lithe Saaya he leaned back as he awaited his order and commented. "So... First of all. You feel better now? Keep the jacket on as long as you need to." From there on Saaya would have the word, at least as far as Yuri was concerned. He wanted to see how she was doing, what she'd been up to and if possible see what she planed for the future.

"Mmm," she nodded as she licked her ice cream, watching Yuri watch her intensely. Her cheeks flushed somewhat, but she met his gaze for a moment. She wanted to avert her eyes, but she found the resolve to keep them on target - either he'd look away or he wouldn't. She was trying to gauge him, but she found that he, too, was doing the same.

It was, she recognized, probably no longer sufficient for her to allow him to lead the conversation. She reminded herself, in her head, that she couldn't let this opportunity go. So, she licked the ice cream off her lips and paused long enough to speak.

"A couple months ago, I went south from here. Not by boat, I walked it. That was...," she wanted to ramble, but other ideas were popping into her mind. She remembered seeing the night sky reflected on the sea while she floated in the dark waters and let the thought stew for a moment. There were words she wanted to describe it with. Revelatory. Prophetic. Wondrous. Terrifying. Portentous..? Haunting...? Augural...
"Nice." She wasn't sure she yet had the confidence to express her imagination, or that Yuri would really understand what the experience meant to her.

"I caught a Skrelp. I named him Pano," she smiled cheerfully. In her head, she finished the sentence, it means black as night, untouchable, unfathomable....

"You'd like him! He's a charmer! And Heia, I mean - you know - my Cubone. He's doing great, too. I think he's happier these days, I don't get in as much trouble as I used to. But...," she paused and sighed, watching Yuri intently as she considered how to put the next thought into words.

"I'm not really happy with who I am and where I'm going," she said, licking the ice cream again. She couldn't help but suppress a smile at it, so she continued the thought, but with sugar-induced cheer, "I've thought about travelling and becoming a dedicated trainer. Spending more time with Heia and Pano. Having a reason to see the world. That doesn't sound crazy, right?" She knew Yuri would answer in the affirmative, she knew who he was and who he wanted to become. She was hoping, though, that maybe he'd want her to come along. She had trouble motivating herself to take on that sort of journey alone, even if she had her pokemon. She wanted someone to share the experience with.

She snuggled deeper into the jacket, still able to smell the scent of Yuri in it, clearly unwilling to part with it yet. This time, she opened her mouth wide and took a big bite out of the ice cream. Well, big for a tiny person.

Oh how nice it was to be inside once again, away from the cold! Feeling his body relax with every passing moment made Yuri realize that even his sweater didn't do much to protect him. While he was outside he thought that it was fine but now, he wasn't so sure. It was not something he thought would really have an effect on him but the more the duo stayed inside, it became apparent to the Shtear native that he was growing used to this soft climate. Winters back home were a completely different experience, but even so the cold was cold everywhere.

Getting to enjoy the temperature inside was also Yuri's partner in crime. The furry pokemon maintained an air of dignity and suave as he sat beside the human he considered pack leader, and pretty much his father. Absol were surprisingly loyal creatures, Yuri noted, but also affectionate in their own way. It didn't require constant attention and petting but it did like being around his trainer, and that was a new experience for the aspiring trainer as well. Placing his backpack down on the ground Yuri appeared unconcerned about anyone taking it, which he was as he knew that Absol would not allow such actions to take place.

On a sweeter note his order had arrived, plenty of ice cream with Chocolate syrup and sprinkles on top! It looked superbly delicious! So the dragon fanboy wasted no time in taking possession of his spoon and starting construction, or deconstruction, work on the defenseless bowl. Hearing Saaya actually talk was nice, confirming to Yuri that all the girl needed was a jacket to keep her warm and some ice cream. He noticed a gradual change in her, with every second and minute she appeared somehow different.

As if every time she spoke a layer was peeled and he got just a bit more insight into her world. The red eyed trainer seemed adorably shy at time but then slowly she showed that she was more than just that. Maintaining eye contact with him she started to open up a bit more, and it was an absolute delight to hear her share a bit more about herself. Interestingly enough she had this sweet sounding voice too, as if that was fair. And so she continued to work on her cone while sharing a bit more about what she did since they last saw each other.

The first major revelation was that she actually walked across Shoaltide Path several months ago, before coming back to Southwind. Which alone was worth talking about! Way more than they did, but Saaya in an act of modesty just briefly mentioned it. It was surprising at the very least, and Yuri made no effort to hide his surprise at the reveal. She was such a badass for doing that, on top of it all with only a Cubone in tow! That was another thing. Never mind the physical effort it took to overcome that, she also entered an area of water type pokemon with the only being who could protect her being a ground typed Cubone. Just wow.

She also expanded her team by catching a Skrelp. That was a cool new pokemon, fairly rare too but it was the fact that it would a poisonous water dweller who could evolve into a poisonous dragon that made it so appealing in Yuri's eyes. The aspiring Goth girl went on to share that her Cubone was also doing well and seemed happier. "I'm not sure if all trainers and their first pokemon are like that but you seem much happier too girl." It was a thought he didn't voice just yet. Right now he just tried to listen.

It would soon enough be his turn to speak and he did so with a smile, beanie and shades on the table next to his bowl. "I think it's ludicrous in the best way and for all the right reasons. But so is our life if you ask me. I think the more important question is. Would that make you happy? Even if you don't know it's still better than staying the way you are." Indulging himself in a bit of creamy delight Yuri swiped the metal spoon and collected the treat. "It's funny..."

It was funny how daunting the life of a pokemon trainer could be. Solitude was par for the course for many trainers but now as he sat there Yuri wasn't sure if that was something he too needed experiencing any further. He was fairly certain that traveling without someone else would change the experience in a positive way. Especially when the other person was someone he actually liked. "When we first met we talked about traveling as trainers together. Do you remember that? And now after all this time I run into you here of all places. Just as I was thinking about how traveling alone might not be the way to go. So how about it? Wanna team up with me? This time for real? We are of course gonna buy you a proper jacket... coat?"

Indeed, she couldn't travel around Godai freezing like she did when they met, before she "borrowed" his jacket...
