Town of Many Rocks
Here he was, in a warm bed in someone's house. Veryn had recently talked to Jensine, the aunt of a childhood friend of his. Jensine allowed him to stay the night, considering what had happened. His parents were no longer around. They had moved off to another region, though they failed to mention where. People had told him that his parents only wished for him to become a strong Pokemon Trainer, and that with them around he would be held back. This was probably just a tactic to get rid of him, generally accepted by society. They hadn't even left anything to his name. They had sold all his belongings, the house and more.
But that was all something he had decided to put behind him. He gazed out the window to the north, where the silhouette of the mountains to the northwest was partially visible as the morning sun crept over the eastern countryside. He could also tell that the day was going to be a clear day, something rare for an area such as that. There wasn't a cloud in sight aside from the ones which blanketed the mountain that never left or moved away. only splitting off new cells of clouds on occasion.
Veryn sat up, he had a Pokeball in his hand, it was Mudkip's.. He hadn't let it out since he arrived at Oreback, nor had he told anyone which starter he had gotten from the center of Godai. Veryn rose from the bed he was in, his feet quickly moving over the side as he stood up and stretched, raising his arms into the air and letting his muscles pull themselves into their proper place. Satisifed, he grabbed his satchel, slung it over his back and opened the bedroom door, heading downstairs.
It was still very early in the morning, but Jensine was already awake. She was on the phone, there were bags under her eyes as she spoke to the mechanical voice through the receiver. "Yes, yes, I told you that. I need the large size, not the small." She rubbed her eyes with her hand briefly before talking once more. "I've ordered clothes from your site for years now, and now you have these rediculous hours! It's 6AM! And on top of that you don"t even have the right sizes anymore!?" She had raised her voice into the receiver before grunting "Ugh!" and slamming the phone back into it's holster. Now that that was over with, she turned to see Veryn who had been watching her. "Can't believe you even have a phone." He said to Jensine. It was true that his parents had not had anything to telecommunicate with, and many neighbors as well. "I'm going out to Goliath, guess i'll see you later." He said. Jensine stood, "hold on a sec." She said. She walked over to the cupboards and opened one of the cabinets, pulling out a loaf of bread wrapped in plastic. "Here, I baked this the other day, your going to need something to eat while you are up there." Veryn nodded, accepting the bread and placing it in one of the outer pockets of his satchel. "Thanks." He motioned with a slight wave before opening the front door, leaving and shutting it behind him.
The morning air was brisk, but he knew it would quickly grow hot. He knew his body would adjust to it eventually. So with satchel over shoulder, he continued onwards. He headed towards the western exit of town, he had to make his way to Dynamag Cave before reaching Goliath.. It was quite a walk. Thankfully, it was so early that he had plenty of time. When he reached the outskirts of town, he finally let out his Pokemon. He pressed the button on the Pokeball, and a red flash of light emerged, Mudkip materializing next to him and staring blankly. "Let's go." he said. Veryn began walking a trail that lead up into the hills and towards the desert to the norhwest. This was going to be an adventure. |
