Just Passing Through
He was walking and walking, for what seemed like ages. The sun was already high in the sky and he could feel it's heat bearing down upon him. He unzipped his sweatshirt and wrapped it around his waist, tying it off. At least now he wouldn't be sweating to death. He wasn't quite in the desert just yet, but he still had to pass by a landmark before he reached Goliath. The cave didn't exactly have a direct route to it, and unless he wanted to cut clear across the desert, which would be dangerous he would have to traverse along Dynamag Cave's rocky exterior. Mudkip was at his side, and had been following him all this time as he walked. Now, they were nearing Dynamag, as evident of the nearby signs. The weather was still clear, and the sun was bright.

As he walked, he studied his surroundings. Veryn had never really payed attention to the surroundings when walking past this area, nor had he ever entered the cave within the location. He had only ever passed through. Perhaps he would try delving it's secrets some other time in the future. For now, he just wanted to get to Goliath so he could train Mudkip. As he walked, he noticed another trainer walking further up the path. He was too far to make out any details, but the man was heavy set with a tan jacket and a wicker hat. Veryn decided to hang back, he couldn't get into a battle with Mudkip just yet. He knew that he hadn't trained Mudkip, and it would have a hard time listening to his commands, let alone specific commands such as dodging or more complex orders.

He walked up the trail for some time, maintaining the same speed that he had been walking at. The trainer hadn't turned around or noticed him, and was still quite far away. Veryn simply continued walking. Eventually, they were starting to near the cavern entrance where you would generally go to enter the cavern. A small rocky outcropping above a large hole in the side of the rocky hill that was pitch black. Veryn was relieved when he watched the man turn down the road and take a right, heading down into the cave's pitch dark blackness. A flash of light shortly followed, likely as a result of the man's Pokemon lighting the cave for him. He would stand no chance against a trainer such as that with only his Mudkip, so he kept going. He walked ahead of the cave entrance, speeding up slightly in case the trainer came back, however unlikely that was. Avoiding battle made him feel weak and like a coward, but he knew it was for the best. He wanted to win, he would have to win.

It wasn't long before Veryn began to clear the area, the hills were steadily beginning to turn to dusty landscapes of stone and sand. In the distance to the south and southwest it was nothing but sand and a mirage for as far as the eye can see. On top of that, the heat was beginning to pick up, and the air was especially dry. Mudkip didn't seem to mind due to it's ground typing. Mudkip simply followed it's trainer ever-forwards, into the unknown. After some time of walking, his destination was beginning to come into view- Goliath Cavern. He could see the familiar rocky hills and sand that it rested upon. He was going to reach this place and that was where he would train his Pokemon.
