((Is it possible that Jake could meet a traveling partner?? Girl or guy, doesn't matter)) With his pokemon in their poke balls, and Treecko on his shoulder, Jake walked up to his first gym battle of the Serenii Region. Taking one look at Treecko, Jake walked into the building. The inside was dark and he wasn't sure if he was heading in the right direction. ''H..hello?" Jake said as he tried to look for a light. |

"Hello there, young trainer..." A soft light gradually emerged from the darkness at the opposite end of the gym, and with this light the silhouette of a trainer was revealed. As lights from above came into existence one by one like stars twinkling in the night, the inside of the gym itself was revealed to be designed to resemble the very forest Jake had just journeyed through to get to this gym. "I am Izumi, properly known as Kimono Girl Izumi thanks to the training I took part in back in Johto," Her voice was one of a young woman, with that slight pitch to it that emenated innocence and youth. Yet Izumi was far from being inexperienced, for the figure of her body in the glowing backlight shone of confidence and skill. "As Leader of the Jade City Gym, it is my duty to give you an opportunity to battle me in exchange for a badge. Are you up for facing off against my Bug-types in my forest on this starry night?" |

Jake and Treecko both stared in awe as the lights were switched on and the gym was revealed. The gym was designed exactly like Cyroon Forest. The gym's decor was even painted to look exactly like the inside of a forest, with the very essence resembling that of it's choice. Jake could feel Treecko wanting to jump off his shoulder and run into one of the trees, but he silently told Treecko to stay, much to the grass-types's dismay. He snapped back into reality when he heard someone speaking. He looked at the other end of the gym and sure enough, there was the gym leader. She introduced herself as Izumi, and explained that she had trained in Johto. Jake stared in awe, he had never seen such a pretty girl before. He shook out of his trance before responding to her, ''I am ready for my gym challenge". With that he pulled out a pokeball and threw it. The pokeball opened up and released his Woobat. ''Woobat!" Woobat exclaimed as it psyched itself up. |

"A Woobat? Seems you know your Pokémon, but a simple type advantage won't be enough to bring you victory against my team," said Izumi as she took a Poké Ball from a carved wooden pillar with dips on the top just the right size for an inactive Poké Ball. With one now in her hand, she 'clicked' it into its full size, and a quick flick of her wrist released a burst of white light accompanied by glowing stars that shot off into the dark sky of the gym as the Pokémon, a bright young Ledyba, was revealed. "You may give your commands first... Trainer, what may your name be?" |

Jake looked on at the lady-bug like, Ledyba. He didn't have much knowledge of this pokemon, but he knew it originated from Johto, just like its trainer. He was about to call a command, when Izumi asked what his name was. ''My name is Jake, from Cyan Town" he answered as he averted his attention back to the battle. He knew this match was Woobat's first battle, but he was sure he could bring out the best in his pokemon. ''Alright Woobat, start things off with Super Sonic!" Jake commanded as Woobat released small rings from its mouth. |

"Woo...OOO...ooo..." called the Bat Pokémon as he released supersonic waves from his mouth that traveled across the air from his mouth right to Izumi's Ledyba. The confusion inducing attack would have hit without problem if not for the Bug/Flying-type releasing a Supersonic of her own! In the mess of sound that resulted from the two attacks colliding in the air between the two foes, Woobat and Ledyba both fell into confusion. :woobat: Jake's Woobat, Lv.5 :M: Health: 100% Status: Confused Stat Changes: None ~VS~ :ledyba: Izumi's Ledyba, Lv.13 :F: Health: 100% Status: Confused Stat Changes: None |

Jake winced as Woobat got confused. Jake knew that Izumi was an experienced gym leader, and that her Ledyba was probably a few levels higher than Woobat. Deciding whether he should switch Woobat in or not, he decided to try and keep him in, to try for some experience. ''Alright Woobat, I know your confused, but you need to fight it! We need to win this battle! Try and use Aerial Ace!" Jake commanded, hoping Woobat would hear him. |

Woobat heard the command clear enough, and as he hovered in place he tried to get his body and mind to cooperate in order to actually pull off the aerial attack. If it managed to hit, the odds of winning this battle would certainly be in Jake's favor. If it failed, however, Woobat would hurt himself along with taking some possible damage from whatever attack Ledyba was told to use by her trainer. The best possibility was for Woobat to snap out of the confusion before his opponent and take advantage of the situation to deal some major damage. "It seems we're starting off this battle with a situation requiring a fair amount of luck," Izumi commented, watching her own Pokémon hover as she awaited a command. "The next few turns will more likely than not determine the fate of this first battle between Woobat and Ledyba. Speaking of my faithful Bug-type; Ledyba, resist the confusion and get in close to Woobat with Comet Punch." Sensing the ideal time to strike, Woobat pulled a tight loop-de-loop before speeding off towards Ledyba with a successful start of an Aerial Ace. Ledyba had fists glowing bright, but the confusion took over and resulted in Izumi's Pokémon hurting herself only moments before Aerial Ace sent the ladybug tumbling. :woobat: Jake's Woobat, Lv.5 :M: Health: 100% Status: Confused Stat Changes: None ~VS~ :ledyba: Izumi's Ledyba, Lv.13 :F: Health: 78% Status: Confused Stat Changes: None |

Jake sighed in relief as Woobat responded to his command by powering his body to come in for a powerful Aerial Ace. Added for some extra damage, Izumi's Ledyba had attacked itself in confusion. Jake calmed himself down after a short burst of excitement, for he knew that, like Woobat, Ledyba could luckily hit an attack too. Jake thought for a few seconds before commanding his next attack. ''Alright Woobat, we both know that Ledyba could hit a random attack too. We need to watch out''. ''Woobat!" Woobat responded as he carefully studied Ledyba. ''Okay, let's continue this flow of good luck with Synchronize!". "Woobat!" Woobat responded as it tried to focus up the attack.

Woobat once more attempted to fight against the clouds obscuring his mind, trying to focus enough to launch off the selectively damaging shockwaves that could only be brought forth by Synchronize. Yet as Woobat was keeping busy with his own attack, Ledyba was working on her offense as well... in a 'defensive' sort of way. "Ledyba, use Screech on Jake's Woobat to lower his defense," Izumi commanded, feeling pleased moments later when her Pokémon was able to fight through the confusion and deliver an ear-aching blast of sound that was not painful for Woobat to hear but also managed to decrease the Bat Pokémon's devensive stats by a fair amount. While it didn't cause any physical damage to Jake's Pokémon, it was good enough for a Pokémon that risked hurting itself at every command. The irritating sound was brought to a sudden halt, however, by the force of Synchronize dealing its damage to... Woobat!?! The attack had just about been ready for release when the energy seemed to collapse in upon itself and deal self-induced damage to its user. Woobat tumbled downards moments before it was able to regain control and bring itself out of the fall and back into flight. :woobat: Jake's Woobat, Lv.5 :M: Health: 87% Status: Confused Stat Changes: Defense -2 ~VS~ :ledyba: Izumi's Ledyba, Lv.13 :F: Health: 78% Status: Confused Stat Changes: None Edited by ~Midnight Lugia~, Jul 8 2011, 07:59 AM.

Jake clenched his teeth as Woobat was bombarded by a series of screeches sent by Ledyba. As if to help to the problem, Woobat soon afterwards felt the force of his own Synchronize blast him. Jake thought for a few seconds before commanding Woobat again, ''Alright Woobat, we knew this would happen eventually, so we need to put that behind us. Let's also go on the defensive by using Reflect!". ''Woobat!" Woobat responded, a little happy with not risking an attack that could backfire on himself, even if it was just for one turn. ''Woobat" Woobat cried out as a barrier started to form in front of him. |

(( You know you can use two moves, right? )) Within a blink of an eye, it seemed that both Pokémon had overtaken the mental affliction that was confusion, and in that moment Izumi watched as Woobat summoned forth an orb of fairly transparent energy. This orb was not intended to deal damage, though, as it expanded until the whole of the bat was encased within the protective shied that effectively doubled its user's defeense againt damage from phsyical attacks. Special attack, on the other hand would deal no less damage upon making contact with their intended target. "A wise move choice, Jake, and quite fortunate that our Pokémon seemed to break out of confusion, as well. "However," continued the gym leader, glad to see the focus of battle shine once more in the eyes of her loyal Ledyba. With mind cleared of any confusion, this battle could return to a pace she was more comfortable with and allow her to gracefully remind Jake why she was leader. "Physical attacks are not the only method that I have for dealing damage to my opponents. Ledyba, could you please show off your Silver Wind?" "Led-yyyyy," As the Five Star Pokémon buzzed its wings, rings of silver gradually formed on the outer edges fo the her red shell. These rings soon developed into a more wind-like twister appearance, and these twin twisters were sent spiraling directly for Woobat, who... made a very narrow dodge. If a physical attack had instead been used, such as another Comet Punch, the dodge would certainly have had even less chance fo succeeding. :woobat: Jake's Woobat, Lv.5 :M: Health: 87% Status: Normal Stat Changes: Defense -2, Defense x2 ~VS~ :ledyba: Izumi's Ledyba, Lv.13 :F: Health: 78% Status: Normal Stat Changes: None Edited by ~Midnight Lugia~, Jul 8 2011, 08:00 AM.

((I know)) Jake sighed as Woobat snapped put of his confusion. However, this only meant that Ledyba snapped out of confusion too, and that the battle was far from reaching its end. When Izumi commanded Ledyba to use Silver Wind, he smiled as Woobat managed to dodge the twister like attack. Jake had been hoping that Woobat would snap out confusion, so the battle could get moving again. ''Alright Woobat, since both of you snapped out of the confusion at the same time, the battle is going to be close" Jake explained as Woobat responded with a slight ''Woobat". ''Okay Woobat, use Acrobatics!". ''Woobat!" The Bat pokemon replied as he flew in near the opposing pokemon. |

(( Very, very sorry for the delay, Treecko ^^ )) With the greatest of ease, Woobat flew in close to Ledyba and grabbed hold of the Pokémon tightly with its two black bat-like wings. What happened to follow was that the momentum of Jake's Pokémon pulled Izumi's partner into several flips before Woobat released its foe and sent Ledyba crashing into one of the forest's many trees. Squeaking at his success, Woobat took a moment to hover in place before it too was sent tumbling by a Comet Punch flurry that dealt half the damage but hit with full power. "Oh my," gasped the gym leader, and for a moment it looked as if Izumi was sincerely suprised at the sight of her Pokémon attacking without command. Yet if one looked closer at Izumi's expression, they would find that her shock was more so directed towards Woobat than towards her Ledyba. "I knew Reflect would decrease the damage attacks like Bullet Punch would deal, but I never realized that Reflect did not lower the overall force of such offensive moves. An interesting realization, indeed..." :woobat: Jake's Woobat, Lv.5 :M: Health: 69% Status: Normal Stat Changes: Defense -2, Defense x2 ~VS~ :ledyba: Izumi's Ledyba, Lv.13 :F: Health: 43% Status: Normal Stat Changes: None |

((No problem. I responded late too)) Jacob smiled when Izumi realized that the Reflect that Woobat had used earlier, had cut down her Ledyba's Comet Punch. Therefore possibly predicting how this battle would advance. Snapping out of his thoughts he realized that Ledyba was down and that now was his opportunity to trike. ''Alright Woobat. We've got to continue the momentum we're building. Use Fly!", he commanded. ''Woobat!" Woobat replied as he rose higher above the gym and then arced down toward Ledyba. |
