After her first loss, Fanta returned to the Gym that left her defeated several weeks prior. She was amazed to see the renovations had been completed and was ready for a renovated challenge in this newly renovated arena.

She only hoped she was well-enough prepared this time around.

"Welcome to my gym, lassie," Stepping out of the shadows and onto the edge of a circular battlefield, a thin old pirate with a messy black beard and eye patch over his left peeper squinted across the gym at you with his other good eye. "My name be Pilkey, and while I may not be quite as young as the other leaders that doesn't mean I can't give you one heck of a battle. That is, if you're up for fighting against a grizzled old man like me."

Reaching down to his belt, Pilkey tossed one of his red and white spheres in the air to let out an energetic young Machop! Flipping out of the flash of white light, the Fighting-type landed with a firm thud. So, the only question now is who you would choose to face off against this fighter?

"Come on, Treecko, lets get this show on the road!" I belted as my lizardy friend emerged from his Pokeball.

With a gecko-load croak, he landed on his feet and stretched his limbs, preparing himself for the challenge.

"Lets set up battle with some set ups. Use your Grasswhistle and follow up with Leech Seed!"

"A lean Treecko, eh?" Pilkey commented, his one good eye squinting at the Grass-type as Machop gave a few fist-to-fist pounds in an attempt to initimidate his opponent. "I can't say I see any real advantages in choosing such a Pokémon to battle off against my Machop, but then again I can't see any disadvantages either, so part of me must commend on you making an apparently wise choice. So without any further ado, let's get this battle started! Har-har-har!"

"Let's set up battle with some set ups. Use your Grasswhistle and follow up with Leech Seed!"

"Machop, start with Focus Energy and follow through with Karate Chop!"

And with that, the battle began. Treecko pursed his lips together and started to whistle a light and soothing tune, but whether it was the focus being put forth by the Fighting-type or the sheer near fifty-fifty chance of success when using Grasswhistle, Machop failed to feel even the least bit tired as his musclebound body momentarily took on an auburn glow. Leech Seed, on the other hand, proved to be a success as three small glowing green seeds were sent flying through the air by Treecko's tail to land upon and instantly secure themselves Machop with various clinging vines.

However, even these parasetic seedlings would not be enough to stop Karate Chop. Bounding forward, Machop sprung up at about the center of the round battlefield with straightened hand held high before coming down and delivering a mighty chop directly to Treecko's head for a direct hit! The round did not officially end, though, until the three Leech Seeds took on a bright green glow as they drained health from Machop to give to Treecko.

My plan didn't go quite as well as I'd hoped, but it wasn't too bad. Both Pokemon were in pretty good shape and the battle was far from over.

"Okay Treecko, lets try another Grasswhistle and follow up with Energy Ball!"

Once again Treecko started to whistle a gentle melody that even made old Pilkey give a little a yawn. The main focus of the attack, however, was upon Machop, and this time around it didn't take long for the fighter to fall on his side softly snoring away as Treecko's face was lit up with enthusiasum. He followed up this success with an Energy Ball flung from his twin green tails, watching as the glowing sphere shot through the air and shattered upon impact. The resulting force was enough to send Machop tumbliung back a bit, but not enough to wake him as a dose of energy stolen by Leech Seed gave the lean Grass-type a bit of a recovery.

"Okay, time to put some oomph into the battle, Treecko!" I exclaimed. "Lets go with a Magical Leaf and then Bullet Seed!"
