After defeating the Ruby Town gym, Midnight took no time in heading over to the Pokemon Center. It was there that he made some changes to his team, allowing members of his current team a chance to gain some deserved rest after the tought battle they had been through. So once that had been completed, and all of his Pokemon were healed, Midnight headed out of town and towards the fiery Rink Mountain. |

You could hear roars from the volcano and lots of different shades of red. However, there was on distinct noise, which was probably because it seemed to be the closest. As you look closer, you noticed that it was the sound of a Magby :magby: talking to itself. |

"Hm, I wonder what the little Magby is talking about." Midnight said as he began towards the small Fire type, attempting to not startle it too bad. A meeting without a battle right off the bat would be great, and maybe Magby could help in someway even if it didn't join the team. "Hey there Magby, how's it going?" |

Magby became startled and turned towards you. It seemed curious of you (perhaps it hadn't seen a human before.) It stood up from its rock and started analyzed you. (It even sniffed your behind at one point.) After it came to the conclusion that you weren't a threat, it held out its claw and offered to show you around. Will you accept? |

"Well, you are probably the best guide I can have right now." Midnight replied, reaching out his hand to grasp the claw of the small Fire type. With the other one, he took a Pokeball off his belt. Thus, if a battle did happen to occur while with Magby, one of his Pokemon could easily be released. "I'll go wherever you go, Mr./Ms. Magby." |

Magby jumped happily and reached for your hand with its paw. It then laughed as it dragged you towards a big rock at the foot of the volcanic mountain. Magby hinted that this was one of its favourite spots, then pointed out some other young, local fire-type Pokemon (a Cyndaquil and a Vulpic.) They must have been friends of Magby's. Problem was, the Cyndaquil didn't seem to take a liking to you quite as much as Magby did. Vulpix didn't seem to care much for you as well. |

"Maybe this will help..." Midnight said slightly to the Cyndaquil and Vulpix, and slightly to himself. Magby had been kind enough to guide him here, and he sort of wanted the same respect from the other two. Thus, with a quick flick of the wrist, one of his Pokeballs suddenly opened up wide. From the flash of white light that emerged from within, a female Arcanine landed firmly upon all four feet before the Vulpix and Cyndaquil. |

All three pokemon were scared of the large fire type pokemon. They all backed up towards the rock and tried scrambling up. They began hitting each other before hiding behind the rock. Seems they have a fear of Arcanines.. but why? |

"Weird..." Midnight said to himself as he saw the three Fire types scurry away to hide behind the rock. He didn't expect this to happen with a fellow Fire Pokémon, yet maybe it was because of Arcanine's large and somewhat fearsome appearance. "Guys, I promise that we mean you no harm at all. I only thought that Arcanine would make you feel more comfortable." |

Magby slowly came out from the rock and approached you once again. It shivered as it approached Arcanine. Arcanine, on the other hand, stood proudly, as if not caring about the young ones. Magby got closer... and closer to Arcanine. It stopped beside its foot and looked up. Arcanine was so tall, so big, so strong... Magby reached over and touched its soft fur. The fur was somewhat, soothing, like a comfortable bed. Magby was astounded. Such a brute Pokemon, and yet, soothing at the same time. Arcanine at this point, wasn't exactly sure why it was released. It had a Magby rubbing itself against its front paw. It turned towards you and gave you a, "What the heck?" look. The other two Pokemon saw Magby's confidence beside the big fire dog. Perhaps it wasn't as threatening as it looked... |

"Arcanine, I thought that another Fire type may make these Pokémon feel more, calm, around us." Midnight explained to his Pokémon, not really sure on whether he had done a good job in the explanation, or if it would simply lead to confusion. Either way, at least the other Fire types didn't seem to be as scared now as they had been before. |

Suddenly, you notice a shift in Vulpix's eyebrow. Vulpix turns to Cyndaquil and began to whisper something, purposely making it so neither Magby, Arcanine or yourself could hear. Cyndaquil became a bit shifty also. Vulpix then gestured to Cyndaquil to approach Arcanine. Cyndaquil followed and the top stopped at Arcanine's foot, beside Magby. Both of the fire Pokemon then decided to take cheap shots at the big Pokemon, each with their own Quick Attack. The two attacks took Arcanine by surprise and angered it somewhat. He growled and turned towards you, hoping you would give it the command it was looking for. |

"Whoah, what's going on here!" cried Midnight as he suddenly saw the two Fire-types use unexpected Quick Attacks against the large Arcanine. Of course, the attacks did not due major damage due to Arcanine's sudden attempt at dodging. However, the attacks were intentional, thus easily being understood as a challenge. "You'll do great girl, but I think a two-on-two battle would be a bit more fair nonetheless." Taking a Pokeball off of his belt, the male trainer threw it upwards. At the peak of it's climb, the red and white sphere opened up wide to release the small yet speedy Rattata. He would probably be underestimated at first due to his small size, yet the purple rodent was no push over. "Alright, let's get this battle on!" Midnight called out, the command meant for both sides of the battle. Although Cyndaquil and Vulpix were both Wild Pokémon, this did not in any way mean they were inexperienced battlers. In fact, at least in Midnight's opinion, untamed Pokémon may be better battlers due to their powerful instincts and will to survive. "Arcanine, start off by trapping up Vulpix with Fire Spin, and then get in close with Thunder Fang! Rattata, my friend, use Screech followed up by Quick Attack upon Cyndaquil!" These were the commands for this turn, and who knew how they would actually turn out. The moves known by Vulpix and Cyndaquil could be guessed, yet neither trainer nor Pokémon would happen to know all at the current moment. Midnight trusted both of his Pokémon, and there was doubt at all in his mind that they would lose this battle. |

(You may want to edit that, because Vulpix attacked Arcanine, not Magby.) |
