(You get my 2000th post Midnight.) :D

Magby stood behind your feet, worried about te sudden fighting. It knew that its friends were michief makers, but it still didn't want to see them get hurt. It also didn't think it was fair on you for them to pick a battle with the big Arcanine.

But still, the battle had begun. Arcanine took a massive breathe and sent out a burst of flames towards Vulpix. The Fire Spin attack trapped Vulpix into a vortex of flames.

Shortly afterward, Vulpix' eyes began to glow. Arcanine could feel the battlefield darken, then suddenly, the battlefield flashed back into light. Arcanine was unsure of what had happened, but had a sudden urge to pounce on Rattata. Seems as though Vulpix' Confuse Ray successfully confused your flaming dog. Vulpix then used its Roar attack, though Arcanine was far too brave to be scared by that.

In the meantime Rattata, sent off an annoying noise that seemed to irritate each Pokemon on the field (as well as you and Magby.) Despite this, only Cyndaquil became affected. The fire mouse' defence dropped by two stats. Rattata then began to fidgit excessively, sprinting up to Cyndaquil and striking it with Quick Attack.

Cyndaquil followed the pounding of attacks by coughing up some putrid smokey air with Smokescreen. The terrible smell made Rattata's eyes water, lowering its accuracy by one stat. Cyndaquil followed up with its own Quick Attack.

"It will be alright, Magby. Hopefully, this battle shouldn't take all that long," Midnight said, noticing that the Fire-type seemed a bit worried about the battle itself. He, or she, was know somewhat friends with both sides, and this could lead to worry about any of the Pokémon getting hurt. Nonetheless, it was a good sign of a good friend.

Although, it's not going perfectly, the male trainer thought as he saw their current situation with Arcanine ending up confused, and now there was the effect of Smokescreen to deal with. At the moment, not too bad, yet it could get worse as time progressed.

"Arcanine, Fire Spin was great. Now, I want you to try to fight through the confusion and attempt a Safeguard followed up Howl," Midnight commanded, not wanting to risk using a very powerful attack with confusion adding the chance of a backfire. "Rattata, keep focused as best as possible upon Cyndaquil, and use Me First followed by Uproar."

(No update since November eh? I suppose that's partially my fault. I meant to update you sooner, but I, errrr.... *flees*)

Arcanine managed to focus hard enough to execute its Safeguard attack. Too bad it was confused beforehand or it could have avoided it. Rattata used Me First, doing a bit of damage on Cyndaquil, but made Cyndaquil's next attack (Quick Attack) a little more powerful. Vulpix followed up with a Tail Whip on Arcanine, which didn't do anything due to Safeguard.

Arcanine didn't have so much luck the next turn and attacked itself in confusion. Rattata began to screech with Uproar, making it impossible for the battlers to fall asleep. Vulpix used Quick Attack on Arcanine while Cyndaquil used Ember on Rattata.

Vulpix was injured by Fire Spin.

( A wilf Cyndaquil, eh? :P )

"You're both doing great," Midnight called to his two Pokémon as they took the attacks from Vulpix and Cyndaquil respectively. Right now, it seemed that the battle was about even in terms of remaining health. However, this could easily change depending upon just how long Arcanine was confused, as the longer the confusion the greater the chance of Arcanine attacking herself. Still, Midnight didn't want to switch here out just yet.

"Rattata, keep up the Uproar for a few more turns if you can. Arcanine, I would like for you to attempt Will-o-wisp upon Cyndaquil, if you can focus through the confusion once again," the male trainer commanded his two Pokémon, knowing that Uproar could be continued for a few turns after it's start. Will-o-wisp would take concentration, and luck, from Arcanine.

Rattata continued with the Uproar. Arcanine tried to ignore the ear-drum-pounding sound and the confusion and just focus on this attack. He managed, and Cyndaquil got inflicted with a burn. The wild Vulpix dashed out of the Fire Spin, and used Flame Thrower at Rattata. The little rat pokemon didn't enjoy having a high degree fire being shot at him, but he is not going to be stop now. After that attack Vulpiz was sucked back in the vortex, and Vulpix and Cyndaquil suffered form there status problems.

At this time, Midnight felt a little bit worried and a little bit proud. Arcanine and Rattata were doing well, despite the fact one was confused while the other had a little trouble aiming. Both of his Pokémon were trying their best, and he wouldn't expect anymore that out of either of them. He knew this battle could be won, there was no doubt about that, and he knew that they would eventually make it to the next town.

"Arrch..." growled the larger red, black, and cream colored Pokémon as it tried to ignore the irritating feeling that were being brought about by the power of the confusion. The knowledge that the confusion was not permanent lingered within Arcanine's mind for a few moments before being lost among all the other chaos within her mind.

"Easy, girl... easy..." Midnight began as he saw his Arcanine attempting to fight off the confusion. He knew full well that succeeding at such a feat would be quite a challenge, and fighting the confusion could possibly lead to Arcanine hurting herself or extending the length of time for her confusion. "Simply stay calm this turn, and don't worry about launching any attacks. Simply relax... stay calm."

As Midnight then turned to his young male Rattata, it was a whole different story. The purple and cream colored rodent had lost a bit of accuracy due to the previous Smokescreen from Cyndaquil, he was still doing pretty good. Uproar had succeeded in causing a fair amount of damage, and it seemed a fair time to switch to another attack to ensure that the strategy was kept fresh.

"Rattata, I would like for you to start off with Hidden Power followed up with Attract, both attacks directed towards Vulpix," Midnight commanded this time, for he knew that he could get the female Fire-type into a bit of trouble. Fire Spin would remain for a while, continuing to give damage without a Pokémon having to actually attack. If Attract succeeded in working, then Vulpix would have to fight the feelings of power of love if it wished to launch an attack.

Arcanine clamed down, and watched the battle continue. Rattata shot out a burst of power with red spheres, aiming at Vulpix. The red sphears hurt her, so. Rattata attempted Attract on Vulpix next. But friom Vulpix's point they were two completely different species, and she didn't fell anything for him. Vulpix then stepped out of the fire and launched a Flare Blitz out of her mouth to Rattata. She then got ready to be sucked back into the fire. It didn't happen. She turned her head, and saw that it dissapered. Cyndaquil gave a strong-feeling Howl. His attacks got raised and his spirit in this battle. Arcanine felt better, and snapped otu of confusion. Cyndaquil suffered from burn.

"Arcanine, Rattata, you're both doing great," Midnight repeated, both for encouragement and because he couldn't think of anything else right now to say that would help keep their spirits up. Fire-types vs. Fire-types would not necessarily be a short easy battle, yet that didn't mean it had to be too long, either. If weak points were located upon the opponents, then Arcanine and Rattata could end this battle all the sooner.

First of all, a little change in strategy couldn't hurt. Arcanine had been doing well against Vulpix, and the same could be said for Rattata and Cyndaquil. However, maybe there would be more of an advantage if the targets were swapped. On the other hand it might do nothing at all, yet there wasn't much risk in taking a chance to find out.

"Rattata, try an Attract upon Vulpix! No matter whether it succeeds or fails, follow up with a powerful Bite!" the young trainer called to the Mouse Pokémon, already seeing that the swapping of targets had a few advantages. Now turning to Arcanine, who had just fought through the Confusion, a slightly new plan had to be thought up. "Arcanine, get in close to Cyndaquil with Body Slam, and follow it up with Thunderfang!"

Rattata gave another attempt to lure Vulpix under Attract, but Vulpix ingrored his motions, and prepared for an Energy Ball. Vulpix opened her mouth, and a blue ball with a green core is forming in her mouth. Every second the ball got bigger. This caused Rattata to run curved to try to avoid a direct hit. Vulpix then turned her head, and saw Rattata getting closer to her side with his fangs flashing. In a second rattata got close to bite range, and Vulpix unleased the Energy Ball knocking and pushing Rattata down. Vulpix gave a satisfied smiled looking at Rattata.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arcanine flung himself towards Cyndaquil, but due to Aranine's weight compared to Cyndaquil he couldn't stop Arcanine with a physical move which he figured out was more effective. Arcanine then jabbed with his fangs that was filled with electricity. Cyndaquil withstand a yell, and kept his ground, pretty impressive after all those attacks. Cyndaquil's burn wore off.
Midnight watced as the burn inflicted upon the wild Cyndaquil seemed to fade away, taking away a small advantage from Arcanine and Rattata. Arcanine still seemed to be doing well, having managed to not take too much damage so far while inflicting a pretty fair amount. Rattata, on the other hand, had taken quite a bit more battle damage and while he was doing great it could end up that he would need to be swapped.
"Arcanine, let's switch your focus back to Vulpix, and Rattata you can have your chance at Cyndaquil again," stated the male teen, not quite sure how to handle the rest of the battle but feeling confident that a strategy would come through sooner or later. "Rattata, start off by using Double Team and follow it up with Quick Attack on Cyndaquil! Arcanine, let's power up your friend's Quick Attack with a little Helping Hand, and follow that up with Flamethrower on Vulpix!"
Rattata hissed violently and closed his eyes to concentrate. Suddenly mirror images appeared alongside him. Cyndaquil stifled a small gasp and took a step back, feeling a bit overwhelmed. Arcanine mean while started cheering rattata, clapping his paws together and roarng encouragement, making him look quite silly. Rattata nodded in acknowledgement, then disappeared from sight. Cyndaquil blinked, then quickly released a small smokescreen to help even up the battle. Vulpix meanwhile took the advantage of arcanine's back being turned to call upon Will O' wisp, sending large blue flames towards arcanine. Arcanine, not having enough time to dodge, took on a burned status and howled in pain. Rattata meanwhile had re-appeared, trying to find cyndaquil through the haze. Thinking quickly he started to run around in a circle, creating a tornado to move the smoke into the air. I=miraculously it worked and cyndaquil's hiding spot was revealed. "Rattata!", he screamed, then charged forward at a blinding speed followed by his clones all 3 rushing in and attacking at the same time, sending cyndaquil flying into a tree trunk. The sudden stop caused cyndaquil to lose his breath and it took him awhile to get back up.
Arcanine nodded in approval and then took a deep breath. A small clicking sound was heard, and then a huge pillar of flame erupted from Arcannine's mouth, hitting vulpix straight on. Vulpix sustained the hit without taking too much damage, and rushed forward with a bite attack. Arcanine was unable to taking any countermeasures, and vulpix clamped down sending a rigid shock through arcanine. She quickly shook her loose, and glared at the vulpix, determined to be rd of her as soon as possible.
"We're doing good guys, there's no doubt about that," Midnight encouraged as he watched the battle continue on. Arcanine truly looked like she wanted to get rid of Vulpix as quickly as possible, as while Rattata on the other hand looked to be in an evenly matched battle against the opposing fiery rodent. To be honest, he wasn't considering capturing either of the two wild Pokémon as he already had enough Pokémon to deal with and wouldn't want the two to be left sitting in a PC for who knows how long. No, victory in this battle was strictly about continuing on his journey and allowing his Pokémon to gain more experience.
"Rattata, get in close again with a Flame Wheel/Quick Attack combo. If Cyndaquil tries attacking with any Fire-based moves, the flames surrounding you should provide some protection." began the trainer, hoping he wasn't taking too much time talking when his Pokémon could be acting. "Arcanine, you're not only beautiful, but also big, strong, and fast, so let's up your speed a bit with Flame Charge and take a risk by following up with Double-edge!"
RAWR ._.
With a burst of speed a hot wind trailing Arcanine charged at that Vulpix picking up speed as she traveled. Just before impact both pokemon braced themselves for the contact. Vulpix's defensive endeavors were short lived though for after the initial slam Arcanine jumped high in to the sky and came down in a reckless slam that left a mark on both pokemon. Vulpix tried to retaliate but was momentary dazed by the heavy impact from the larger pokemon.
Rattata rolled in to a ball and surrounded it body with a light cloak of flames. The ball then began to charge at the Cyndaquil. Upon seeing this coarse of action the small fire pokemon decided to do the same. The two flaming balls made impact and ricocheted a moment later the balls had vanished and the two small pokemon were slamming in to each other with full speed tackles.
"Just a few more hits, guys," Midnight continued, watching with the focus of a battler as he saw Rattata and Cyndaquil meet head-to-head with Flame Wheel only to bounce back with apparently equal force. As those two then charged at each other with Quick Attack, Arcanine bounced off of a beaten Vulpix who looked a little unsteady on her feet after taking the hit from Double-Edge but still had a fair amount of fight left in her. "Rattata, let's take down Cyndaquil with a Double Team/Quick Attack combo! Arcanine, turn right around and give Vulpix a taste of Thunder Fang followed up by Double Kick!"
The One of no Pokemon
(Rhonie, let's remember to carry on stat changes ;) )
Rattata, being as swift as ever was itching to finish the fight! "Rattata!" it cried as it started using double team. "Ra! Ra! Ra! Ta! Ta! Ta!" Rattata once again called out, however it was distorted due to double team's effect of creating exact looking copies of Rattata! Cyndaquil was confused as it tried to figure out which was the real Rattata! "Cyn...Cyn.." Cyndaquil would say towards Vulpix, obviously trying to call for some assistance on the sneaky rat. Before Vulpix could give a repsonse however, Rattata and the replicas charged at a quick pace right towards the hopelessly confused Cyndaquil. *Poof!* The first fake one hit, although it highly startled Cyndaquil, *Poof* The second one hit leaving Cyndaquil highly disoriented for the incoming strike! *Bam!* Cyndaquil was hit head -on by the fierce, and quite real Rattata knocking it back. Cyndaquil struggled to get back up onto it's feet, but not even two seconds after getting it's footing it fell down again! Obviously Cyndaquil was out of the fight!
Meanwhile on the other front of the fight, Arcanine let out a small growl as her teeth started to spark with eyes determined to instill fear in the enemy for the mistake they had done moments ago before the battle. The sparks grew and grew until it almost looked like lightening bolts ricocheted off of the razor sharp teeth of Arcanine! She then rushed at the Vulpix with sparks flying out of it's mouth leaving a slight trial in the air behind her. Arcanine then reached the Vulpix, however Vulpix had an attack up it's sleeve too! Vulpix rushed to and jumped onto a large rock nearby, then jumped towards the charging Arcanine as she spun around in the air. Vulpix would commence a Tail Slap upon Arcanine who was surprised at the brave move the Vulpix had pulled off! The tails hit Arcanine three times as Vulpix started to fall to the ground! Arcanine however still had a powerful Thunder Fang to use and struck at the falling Pokemon much like a bear striking fish at the river. This caused Vulpix to fly up into the air where Arcanine then released a decent powered Thunder Fang onto Vulpix! Vulpix was then raised into the air even higher with the hit! Arcanine then executed a turn mu8ch like Vulpix had, but to strike with her back legs at the once again falling Vulpix! This caused the small fox Pokemon to be launched across the field of battle, however it wasn't the end of the fight!
