If you've talked to me for a bit, you know I'm always offering butterbeer and usually have one in hand, and like to offer toasts. So I figure this is a place for everyone to grab a mug and toast whoever or whatever they feel.

Today, I offer up a toast for one of my best friends, who I've adopted as a brother. I met him at school, my first day, and him, my boyfriend and I have been friends ever since. The two of them are like brothers; he considers me his little sister, and I consider him my big brother.

He lost his mother to cancer when he was younger; his father remarried a cancer researcher. He's aiming to go into cancer research himself.

His father was diagnosed with cancer of the blood a year or so ago.

This morning, he called me to tell me that his father is dying.

No one deserves to lose a parent to cancer. But no one, especially not him, deserves to lose both.

A toast to my friend, my brother; may he find strength, and peace, and may life be kinder to him from now on. -drinks deeply-

I don't have anything to toast right now. But I'll add to your toast, to your friend, a Butterbeer and a Tim Hortons coffee (my first drink of the day).

Thought appreciated but I think you misread it. xD His father is dying, not dead yet, and mine's alive and well.

I also join the toast and would like to toast for a colleague of mine, who lost her mother and father-in-law, both to cancer which went incredibly fast (from the moment of discovering it to passing away), within the timespan of not even six months.

That is sad. :( -raises glass- To your colleague. May she also find strength and peace.

I give a toast, *taps her glass* to Echo Fang. The health insurance law has provided her with the resources that she needs when she's sick. With how sick she's been, this is a HUGE help. Cheers!
*gulps her butterbeer*

What she's referring to is, I am 21. The new health care law in my country (America), one of the things that was in it was that I would be covered until ... I think it's 25, even if I'm not in school, under my parents' health insurance. I have been very sick, barely made it through my last year of school and have to put off grad school until I'm better. I was very scared that I would lose my health insurance because the law would be ruled unconstitutional. It has been ruled constitutional, so I still have health insurance and can get better in peace. :)
