SO LETS VOTE and I WILL PRODUCE LAMINATED SHEETS IN A BRIGHT COLOUR 1st AUGUST.... actually i do remember going to a waste of time meeting steve ditchfield offered to produce laminated fixtures |

Or maybe I don't speak with Dave Darlington regularly as I have enough to do running the Prestwich Bowling League and bowling in the summer. I certainly don't have the regular weekly contact that I did with him when I was at the Church so the tables don't get updated as often. The website issue is easily rectified; I can put something new up for Dave to work with, that's not a problem. If you're that concerned, offer to take over from Dave, stop putting him down and stop being quiet at the meetings and then moaning about it afterwards on here. Too many people moan after the event; I don't have time as I already do the bowling league but I'm sure there's someone out there that can spare a couple of hours a week to help Dave out. |

This isn't an official forum though. I have no say in the fixtures - give DD a bell and talk it through nicely and he may see your point. Once the fixtures are done, I can revamp the website and get something up and running that will allow DD to post updates on what he wants whenever he wants as well as maintaining the forum approach. I'm busy at work though and that's priority at the moment, together with my official commitment to the bowls league. |

Reading between the lines here Dave, it looks like you best speak to DD directly as it doesnt appear that he logs on to this website and Mark obviously doesnt have the time so I'm sure between both DD and yourself that you'll be able to sort this out sooner rather than later. Good Luck!! |

I'd suspect that the official line is that such a submission would have been welcomed and discussed at the AGM, but that it's too late in the day for the change. He spoke to me a couple of weeks ago about printers, so I'm guessing that the fixtures are finalised already. Personally, I'd run with what DD has already put together this season and look at working during the season with him to come up with a new structure, if required, for the season after. If we can get extra fixtures in, then great, but DD would probably be inclined to listen to a new proposal a bit earlier than now. I'm only defending him because I know what a pain in the arse sorting fixtures out is; hurricane's made a good suggestion, but it needs to be raised through the appropriate channel, which this forum isn't. |

AND JUST ANOTHER THING most of our clubs are struggling to get people in each nite..price of beer etc... in pres cons people got fed up of free weeks and went home ... some lost interest completely in playing once a month..the clubs and the league would generate more cash if we had a better fixture list D/D s job pays 400 pounds if anyone fancies it HONORARIUM paid each year by the league SO HE DOESNT DO IT FOR NOTHING DOES HE right ive ad my say |

We've seen it coming because there has been a distinct level of apathy with too many people wanting everything for nothing. It only takes one person from each team (or even club!) to enter the results on here each week to keep everyone up to date. That's six volunteers because DD can capture the Stute info and Nick and Steve usually enter their results anyway. I'm happy to submit the first and second team results for HPSC. The place to raise major overhaul suggestions is at the AGM or to submit a proposal in advance of the AGM that DD can work on throughout the year. As for Mr Wright, I now expect you to stand for election as League Secretary at next year's AGM. If you think £400 is reasonable compensation for the amount of hours put in, you'll be in for a pleasant surprise if you're running the show this time next year. |

Nice sentiments Dave, but as I've said, you're about two months too late. If you want to be an officer of any league or even club, you need to stand for election at an AGM unless there's a resignation mid term. These are usually exceptional circumstances and as such the body in question would call an EGM to discuss the post and vote in the new officer. Leagues and clubs have these rules for two reasons - one so that everyone knows what the proper procedures are for engaging in dialogue with the league and two so that there is that element of stability within the league. DD acted a couple of years ago at a time when he didn't have to in order to get the extra snooker fixtures for the second teams but going by the book he should have said no. However, he recognised the need for change, but nothing there affected the published fixtures. This though would be a major change and one that would change the league considerably; that's an obvious risk so close to a new season. |

Dave I can only suggest the league runs this season as it is, and at the end of the season approach DD for any changes (as Marky suggests). I dont think we respect what DD does for the league, its a big job and MOST people would not want to take it on, its not just about league fixtures. I do agree Dave that in would be more interesting if more snooker was played or we played teams 3 times, or the other option is look next year at bringing outside teams into the league which would definately freshen up the league. Marky for president !! Joe |

I am sure I dont amaze you in a good way, so i will take that as a sarcy comment mr wright.. You dont know who would join our league, I am sure playing 2 more teams per season is better than playing the same teams over. Joe |

Whatever we do, it has to be done through the proper channels - raise an EGM or go through the AGM |
