Welcome to one of the most important years of your life... not to scare you or anything. There'll be no time for lolly-gagging and paper plane making here and in such spirit let us launch right into it. Now towards the end of the year you will be given a challenge of sorts which will hopefully test your aptitude for assessing danger, not just your spell knowledge. A vast arsenal is of no use whatsoever in the hands of a blundering moron, to put it frankly. Before that we're going to start by conducting an historical study - withhold the groans please. Knowledge is power, dear students, and we must all learn from the past or we are doomed to repeat their mistakes. Homework Pick one of the following wizards (Albus Dumbledore, Alastor Moody, Severus Snape). Each fought against the dark arts but made grave judgemental errors. their characters were inevitably flawed. Discuss a moment of triumph and a moment of serious error made by your chosen wizard. what characteristics do you think are of most value when facing the dark arts OR Choose one of the following events/concepts (goblin rebellion, wizard alienation of the giants, the elite's disregard of muggle-borns). Discuss with relevance to your choice why it is wrong for wizards to underestimate, ignore and/or exclude potential allies. |
