Seems symbolically appropriate. We've visited ironworks I think, so we should be aware of using bellows to pump air into furnaces to make them burn hotter/ On the subject of enhancing our fire, there was the intense white flame we once produced as an infant that we may want to look into. |

Actually, it was a blue-white flame, i.e. our regular fire. Give me a minute and I'll look through the story thread and find it. Edit: Here: 'Once, for just a moment, the fire that flashes outward is an intense and searing bluish white.... no matter how you try, you have not yet been able to replicate this.' And then the year after: 'By the end of the year, your fires burn blue, and unusual and unique twist to the fires, leaving respect sent your way from all corners.' Hmm... actually, reading these the first flame might have been unusually powerful. Have to ask Chibi to be certain. Edited by NSMS, Feb 9 2013, 04:07 PM.

That as well, that as well. Dodge whore, here we come! We gotta work on integrating the styles first though. Start with the low handing fruit of Lightning, then perhaps experiment with Air. I suspect that it will be slow going though, without a teacher in Air. Unless some spirits are serious pulling for us with bursts of inspiration. Which, hey, maybe Raijin is. |

Air or lightning swords are nice and all, but we can already make daggers of blue flame. There is no real need to overlap skill sets like that until we have already knocked out the things that complement our style. |

Individual spirits might not be the same. I suspect that the spirit of the sun is going to be a bit hotter than Raijin. That said, it's possible that Agni in a good mood might be willing to dial down the heat instead of boiling us. |

Azula's only new deal is with Yosei. And that one is supposed to be kept secret from the Fire Sages. We did not make an actual deal with Raijin. He just 'tested' us and gave us his 'blessing'. We did not 'agree' to anything and he didn't ask for anything in return. Besides, the Fire Sages hate us anyway. Zuko, on the other hand seem to have come to some form of agreement with the giant scorpion spider he had been fighting. That might lead to the Fire Sages refusing to train him as well. BUT! Now there's a solution: Now that Ozai has hit Raijin with lightning with to no effect, he will hopefully finally start believing in spirits. That means that he will recognize that the Sage training isn't useless and - as the fricking Fire Lord - will order the Fire Sages to teach us and Zuko, if we just ask him nicely! |

Now Azula's an airbender who can 'bend' lightning! And she sure likes to use it a lot. And indeed, it's classified under airbending:
Do you know what that means? Take a look here:
(Taken from here.) So, soon Ozai's, Iroh's and Zuko's lightning skills will at least stagnate. But they might heavily restricted it's use anyway, seeing as they most likely don't want Raijin to kidnap them, as well. So it's probably not that huge a loss, but Ozai will hardy be happy with that. |

With airbending and firebending, we could really take the concept of "Firestorm" to the next level. Fire, lightning and winds that feed it all into a massive inferno. In regards to lightning moving away from the gray zone back into Wind. Chibi said it would take centuries, just like how it would take that long for it to move into Fire. Ozai wont be alive at the point where he couldn't use it anymore and by then, the Fire Nation will have plenty of its own airbenders. Edited by MacroDaemon, Feb 9 2013, 05:19 PM.

You know, we probably will never earn Fujin's favor. But like all spirits, he may choose to 'forget' our line's transgressions against him if his monks are rebuilt. Aang clearly needs to restart the airbenders. If he sides with Fire Nation, we can support him in this endeavor. But instead of only pacifist monks, we offer the other side of the coin. The more violent aspects, through our line and those who seek us out. Raijin though....we're pretty much his number one bender here. As such, he's probably going to have his eye on us a lot. I wonder if we can earn even more favor through new, creative uses of Lightning? Have him pulling strings for us out of sight because he REALLY wants us to pass his favor down the generations, along with our teachings. |

The Raijin thing sounds entirely possible to me. Didn't Chibi mention that the lightning nerves thing would be something he'd brag about to Fuujin? Actually... if we take that far enough and work up enough creative uses for lightning, do you think Fuujin might offer us his blessing so we can do the same for wind, just to shut his brother up? Restoring the monks wouldn't necessarily help. It means that there'd be a rival group of airbenders for Fuujin to sponsor and use. Better to have Azula and her descendants be the only show in town. It might be better for Aang not to have any children. |

Oh, and restoring the monks should actually be restoring the monks. Anything else might offend Fuujin even more and this way we will only have to deal with some pacifistic recluses. If we want some combat airbenders, we can just have more children and grandchildren. It's not like there will be many air monks for some time anyways. |

Lightning nerves is to supercharge reflexes and eventually (probably when we're 40 or something) thinking speed. And Chibi indicated the process of getting it could put you in bed for months with serious damage. Pipeman: Restoring the pacifist monks will piss off Raijin. Edited by GoC, Feb 9 2013, 05:58 PM.

Someone asked, way back, if we could use lightning to mess with our reflexes and make them and our speed in general better with lightning. Chibi said yes, but it would involve us damaging ourselves for several months during the experimentation. It came up again, because Chibi recently said that Raijin would have liked it, though, because speeding yourself up was an airbending technique and using lightning to achieve it would have allowed him to laugh in Fuujin's face. Used to, at least. According to Navi, airbenders could recover from lightning strikes comparatively simply. Toph, being an Earth bender, gets hurt worse than most. Air benders, less. So we might now have some built-in resistance to lightning that mitigates damage and speeds healing. |
