Probably more of an ability to create a freaky/unnatural/unnerving/distracting/frightening wind effect, than outright airbending. Zuko now has effectively all the skills to necessary to become a literal boogeyman. |

It seems that it's exactly because bending is spirit-based that it consumes air in the first place. There's no purely physical reason for it to do so: there is nothing there undergoing combustion. Flames simply appear in the air, so the only possible thing that could be burning is nitrogen, but that can't be the case because the conditions aren't physically favorable for that at all--and if it were the case, you'd have very toxic crap choking you. So the apparent conclusion is that fire-bending uses up air just because fuck you, air. |

Huh, given Zuko's skills and now new abilities, I find it pretty likely that Azula is going to end up running the nation(world) as Fire Lady while Zuko is going to be the problem solver and Fire Lord in title only. |

I seriously hope that we learn from Ozai's mistake and put a decent civil service in place to do the actual running, with us only acting as the ultimate escalation point and honing our bending. We've some dragons to kill, after all. Immortality isn't going to develop itself either, is it now? |

Succinctly paraphrased. Most of the elements hate all those other elemental douchebags. Fire spirit tends to go out of its way to consume air and plant spirits, if it can. Of course, air can blow fires out too, so. Little more complex than 'rock beats scissors beats paper beats...' |

While he does have the skillset he lacks the attitude for that. And while Zuko lacks our talent for politics he is far more of a people person and more approachable than us and we kind of have to/should rely on him to keep us from 'going over the edge' so to speak. Having him only as an assassin and figurehead is kind of wasting his talents. Besides, we'll probably want to go troubleshooting and questing ourselves from time to time. Not every problem needs to be solved with assassination, so being a problem solves wouldn't really waste his talents. Also, he really isn't a people person. Quick to anger, quick to jump to conclusions, etc. He has his moments, but they are few and far between. Also, we wouldn't really need a figurehead, because our position will have equal authority as his. The only reason I say that he'd be Fire Lord in title, only, is because we'd simply be better at running the nation, so we'd probably end up doing more of that, while he deals with local situations. And as Alratan mentioned, we really will need to delegate a lot of the aspects of running the world, so we'll likely find time for a bit of questing on our own. In such situations, Zuko can sort of hold down the fort if we really need him to, though. Edited by MacroDaemon, Feb 9 2013, 09:07 PM.

The whole 'Azula and Zuko as rulers' thing would be an absurdly huge time sink and honestly pretty boring in any event. Hopefully we will be able to postpone it for the duration of this quest. Ozai's two major flaws were his inferiority complex and his disbelief in spirits. He's made some huge stride at dispelling both recently and while he's still murderous as heck he makes a half-decent Fire Lord and he should have time to learn to be a better one. |

does zuko have swords anymore? why would be buy him sheaths? i would assume that comes with the swords we will be buying him later. and we aren't on SB anymore, are we? i don't know if its because its so late that its early, or if i'm just dumb, but i have no idea what you are saying. edit: oh yeah, sheath innuendo... ICWUTUDIDTHAR. yeah. still doesn't make any sense though, considering you would probably commission the sheath with the swords. besides, we pretty much just told him that we need to have babies with him. why the hell do we need innuendo again? oh, yeah, and something was mentioned about Aang being able to "shadow bend" now? why would that be? am i missing something? Luckily, knowledge of spirits doesn't mean he can actually see them most of the time and honestly, nobody is really going to tell him what type of personality our little spirit friend has, even if he somehow found out that we are bound to one. Unless the Fire Sages are feeling really spiteful. That would be kinda irritating. |

Ozai could simply become a bit paranoid about spirits and remember we made a deal with one. From there it's only one more step to asking the sages what kind of deal we made and what the spirit gets out of it. Given that the answer is pretty much 'feeling strong sensations' and what he already thinks we're up to... well, the conclusion isn't one that unlikely to reach. |

This. I imagine he is right now trying to re-adjust his worldview and re-examining almost all of his decisions up to now according to the stuff he just found out and trying to somehow fit everything together. Other revelations he may have in the future: - Agni may have made him burn his son's face off for disrespecting the Agni Kai - Spirits almost managed to kill Azulon - They also almost started a civil war - His daughter has a not-her-buddy spirit - He may actually start believing that Hama was a spirit as well On the plus side, we may be able to blame stuff we want to keep secret from him on spirits more easily. About talking with Ozai on our new capabilities. I think our stance should be that we shouldn't need or want to hide them. I.e. it should be less speaking with Ozai on what we should do, but more convincing him that we shouldn't hide them and that we should integrate air benders i(any who still survive) into the Fold of Fire Nation. Point out the Avatar to him (in light of the newly discovered significance of the "bridge between spirit and human world" part). Who is an air nomad. Whom we should make our ally. |

It would probably be best to consult with Iroh before he explains everything to Ozai. That way we could figure out what Iroh should say and what we should say. Having your brother tell you that your daughter has been bound to a spirit for pretty much half her life is probably worse than having the daughter be the one to say it. |

I don't think so. I mean Lavabending seems something that's really firmly on the edge like mudbending. And earth bender and a fire bender can bend lava but it's ultimately better if they did it together? I mean we can drag the rock by the heat and flame. They drag the rock by dragging the rock and don't , no can't mess with the heat. It just leans more in practical learning curve to fire cause we can actually survive it up close. I mean there's nothing that says that toph couldn't lavabend with ease by dragging up a magma flow pretty far away from her body and all. Edited by Larekko12, Feb 9 2013, 11:48 PM.

[x] Business as usual? Ty Lee grabs you the moment you see her, sniffling again, but mostly having gotten past the previous day's events. She seems to be unwilling to let you get more than a few steps away from her, though, for any reason. By contrast, Zuul... She simply isn't here. There's a message left in her quarters, along with some smeared blood that hasn't yet been wiped up, nailed to the table with what takes you several long moments to recognize as a scalp between it and the wood. Grand. Either lady Xin's replacement, or someone of similar temperament, chose to welcome the newcomer to the capital in style, you see. The message is short, but simple. Tailor didn't have anything she liked. She's going to handle the clothes problem on her own. Going to the large wooded island just outside of the harbor, across from the water gates. She'll be back... 'soon', apparently. The message is written in still slightly-sticky blood. Wonderful. At earliest, she left sometime early last night, then. Still more than plenty time for someone really determined to get out of the capital by train, and across to that island, whether by boat or just swimming. You can't recall the names of the nobles in charge of sections of it. Hopefully, nothing unfortunate is going to happen. You're fairly sure that the island houses one of those villages that aren't marked on maps, though you cannot be perfectly certain. What you do know is that one of the nobles imported wolves as a curiosity, having heard that they were somehow related to dogs, and attempted to domesticate them. In fact, he just accidentally set them loose on the island. You believe there's still a few packs roaming about it. .... You don't seem to be able to get ahold of Ozai or Iroh at the moment. They are very busy, it seems. Somehow the conversation with Rin ends with you holding a hand on her belly as... something weakly attacks from the inside, desperately struggling for freedom, as Ty Lee coos. You find it frankly disturbing, to be honest. Mildly alarming, even. But both of them are so excited and happy over it that you can't bring yourself to say anything. You end up working things out on your own, for the moment. You recall the airbending form. The trick is to make it so that you're bending, but not calling fire or lightning. You don't need to call air. Air is already there. You just have to... move it. And at the same time, not move it. It's not like fire, which almost has to be violently throttled and choked into submission in order to be useful at all, and presents an ever-present danger, or lightning, which behaves similarly in many ways. Air just... is. And the harder you try to clutch at it, the faster it slips out through your fingers. It's frustrating, and even after a good couple of hours working at it, with the occasional accidental eruptions of flame or electricity, you can only barely force a slight breeze to blow. You thought you had managed more, but realize after coming to a stop that you were mistaken, it had actually been a natural and normal wind. --- [ ] ??? |
