>Level of obsession. >Get bloodbent and have your heart frozen right in front of her, she barely manages to intervene enough to allow you to save your own life. >Get grabbed by a giant spirit and pulled into another world, just across the courtyard from her, she can't move fast enough to help in any way at all. >Now you're planning to send her away to where there's nothing she can do in any way to keep you safe, if anything like this happens again. I'm just saying, you think having her off who knows where on the back of a bison, with no way of knowing what's happening to you at any time, is going to make her worry less? |

Well he's not supposed to be actually told any of this till he was like 16. There was a large support system for finding them early and giving them good childhoods too. And well Aang's going through a lot. I mean he has to deal with the utter genocide of his people effectively over night such a way that it could be easily construed that if he was there visibly to be killed some of his people might have survived. Then there' his new friends and him getting kidnapped. The going through the temples and burying all his people alone and any spirit shenanigans that might involve. The checking out all his old stomping grounds to find them ruined and desssicated. Fong being Fong and the reaction being the reason his friend is dead. The NWT was probably good for him in the whole distress while learning water and make a new friend if Iroh managed to shoot a letter off on how to defuse the tyke bomb by not pushing his duties so much. But going to find that a temple has been inhabited by an arms builder for the people who killed his own? Well that would really piss me off. Thankfully Iroh's priming and the friend who might be yue should help. Well..... Of fuck we were basically extorting that dude weren't we. Burn. |

Zuul killed an assassin, and then went off to go skin some wolves. That is hardly a punishment-worthy thing, really. Alratan is just totally convinced that Zuul is the devil itself, is unchangeable/unsalvageable, and would take any opportunity to go "See, see? Proof that we should send her far far away!" The bit about Ty Lee though, yeah... She might get along with Aang. But sending her with him... Well, she's going to be constantly worrying over Azula. Probably not healthy. ... Heh. If anything, I might consider us joining the Avatar on his travels ourselves. Not sure what exactly we'd do with that though. |

Honestly, I don't think Aang is going to turn aside just if we send him a letter. And besides, it's doubtful that our hawk would be able to intercept him while he's enroute to the Temple. Plus, again; Air. Might not want to go where he's bid to. We can just come to him instead if we want. Could offer to take him to Yu Dao or Omashu; the former to show how Fire colonies are doing; the latter to show how places taken over by the Fire Nation aren't hellholes and how we can work together with the people there. |

Right, we're not dangling enough bait for Aang. Here's how we get him to come running wherever the hell we want him to. [X] Write Aang a letter. Tell him a new airbender has been found that would like to meet Aang and that we can arrange a meeting. -[X] Tell him the location we choose, whether it be Omashu or Yu Dao or something else. For a period of several days, this new airbender will be in this area, so if Aang wants to meet them he'd best hurry. Tell him to look for us. [X] Wait for Zuul. Have...words with her. Let her know her new responsibilities and duties. [X] Travel to the meeting place. -[X]Bring at least Zuul and Ty Lee. They're dependent on Azula. -[X] Toph, Mai, and Zuko are welcome as well if they'd like. [X] Practice Lightning Bending along the way. [X] If results are made with Lightning, move on to air. If Aang hears that there is a new airbender, you damn well better believe he'll come running. It's the perfect bait. He just doesn't know the new airbender is us. I prioritized lightning over air because we sound much closer to making progress there. I could see trying to manage at least a breeze of air on demand, but it sounds like we can already manage that much. Proof enough, there. Edited by Hymn of Ragnarok, Feb 10 2013, 09:27 PM.

I very much doubt he'll just shut us out if we ask for his help. Aang isn't that sort of kid. I'd be willing to drop Zuul To Li and Lo. The old crones would be great to teach her conventional firebending and to control her impulses if need be. I don't think Zuul is the devil, but I don't trust her as far as I can throw her. As far as I'm concerner, she's canon!Azula, a sadictic little sociopath without a bunch of do-gooders whispering in her ears. Edited by Liam-don, Feb 10 2013, 09:30 PM.

We can. That is the fruit of our labors in the last session. A very mild breeze. Like I said before, if people choose to practice air bending more, fine. I do see the reason for it. I just don't think we're going to see any significant improvement. As long as we can still make a mild breeze, we've got our proof. If people want to train air and hope something shakes out, well, I don't think we'll see much in the way of practical usage but people can go that route. Lightning, on the other hand, is something that may pay out. Moreover we probably need to explain how we air bend, and that's Raijin. Might as well embrace it and have something to show Aang. |

We could, but I suspect that it's airbenders that will reel him in fast. We can let him know ahead of time that they're not a survivor as well. Hell, we can tell him it's us and that we want to talk about airbending future, although I'd be wary of offering it freely.
We can write the letter to let him know the person isn't one of the Nomads, or tell him they're borne of the Fire Nation, or that they're us. |

Baiting Aang like that is bound to backfire. Just give him some options for a meeting place, and let him chose a date within a window. He can send his reply back with the messenger bird. We can get anywhere pretty fast if needed. And I think it would be good to take Katara, he's just been to the Northern water tribe. So he will likely be able to tell Katara, about the gender divides. And if we allow it teach Katara some basic waterbending forms. |

I very much agree that Zuul has hardly done anything problematic yet. If she wants wolf-themed clothing that's fine and honestly it's possible she could handle meeting the Avatar with some politesse. If we don't think she can or she'd prefer not to, leave her behind with Iroh. He can give her a hickey and maybe they'll knock boots. Alratan was vehemently against recruiting Toph as well, and guess what? During the Eclipse Toph will be AWESOME. Likewise, during the Comet having Zuul on board may be a big help. Minions take some work, but they are well worth the cost. Edited by drake_azathoth, Feb 10 2013, 09:48 PM.

Telling him that the new airbender is Azula is probably the best way to handle it, but the last time we wrote Aang a letter we jumped through a bunch of hoops for security reasons in case someone other than him reads or intercepts the letter. That's also why we're not telling him directly about Joo Dee, because we're hoping to keep her capture secret and also because he might go haring off to Ba Sing Se to yell at whoever made her rather than coming to us like we want. Anyway, telling him that there's a new airbender without saying that it's Azula will mostly make him feel like he's being jerked around. It would for me. |

It's not like the letter is inherently toying with him if we don't go full disclosure, which could be unwise over mail. There are simple ways to get the point across without being cruel about it. For instance: Avatar Aang, I am writing to inform you that a new airbender has been discovered. I regret to inform you that they are not, however, survivors of the Air Nomads. I am afraid that the situation is complicated, and there is a limit as to what I can disclose through a letter. Suffice to say that the circumstances are quite unusual, and these matters are best discussed face to face. I can arrange a meeting at XXXXX during the days XXXXX. I warn you in advance; this meeting is likely to be stressful, but it is my hope a satisfactory resolution can be reached. And so on and so forth. |

Well, if you guys don't think it's a good idea, then we won't do it. I still think that if we want to get Aanag to meet with us, we need to offer SOMETHING. The matters of great personal importance to you, rediscovery of an old form of air bending, our identity, whatever. We need to throw something into the letter that appeals to him, personally, instead of "Wait there," or, "Go here." He needs to WANT to do these things. EDIT: I don't think he needs to know that specifically to meet with us. I think that's one of the few things that will make him drop everything to meet with us. I agree with meeting with Aang with Zuul and Ty Lee in tow; see if Toph, Mai, and Zuko wanna come too. Leave Katara to do healy things, see if we can foster some empathy for Fire Nation people within her, make our people seem human to her rather than the monsters that killed her mom and invaded her country. Zuul is a useful asset; unique firebending that we can use to further our own, she just needs work like Toph did. As for where to meet with Aang; either at teh NAT or wherever is fine. We can handle any complications. |

[x] Deprogramming. Well, magic deprogramming. If just being near an airbender... Well, it does seem to make sense. If Air is in opposition to Earth, and what had been done to her was an Earth natured ability of some sort..... Yes. Much like having lightning trapped within herself for months and fighting against her own inner earth seems to have strengthened Toph's chi greatly, though with dangerous means... Maybe airbending outright could help. Though, just a little bit of drafty air doesn't seem to help much. .... You have to think further. You can't control enough air... No, not quite right. There is a little bit of air that you can control, more easily than all the rest. You inhale, filling your lungs as much as you can, and gather chi. Focus. "Air is Freedom." you whisper softly, blowing chi out on your breath, but not into flame. The Joo Dee's pupils shrink down to pinpricks, and she starts spasming beneath the stone, breath of her own becoming strange and irregular. Inside... Inside, winds have begun to blow, whipping traces of cloud. You wave at Toph, and the gag shrinks away as Joo Dee starts... babbling. Unfocused, and incoherent, switching seamlessly from the start of one sentence to the end of another, sometimes changing words partway through pronouncing them. "What. Did you do?" Katara whispers harshly, drawing water up and placing it against the Joo Dee's head. "I... I don't even know where to begin understanding what-" "Stop. Hold it there." you say, holding up a hand and watching intently. Wind whipping, gathering traces of water into clouds and dropping from the sky. "Don't try to... do anything, just. Hold it there." Minutes pass, as the babbling settles down into incoherent murmurs and the Joo Dee's eyes glaze, and she passes out, before you are satisfied. She's... different. Not completely ruined, as she was. There's wind, and some water, and given time to settle... Probably not going to be the same as she was before. But she might mend. You think. Maybe. .... Or you've just driven her irrevocably insane. You guess only time will tell. --- [ ] ??? |

If Zuul gets seething hatred for the crime of being of Water and Fire blood, we can play against Aang's "All life is sacred" philosophy to make them look bad. We can turn this into an asset, worst comes to worse. We look better so long as we aren't the one initiating hostilities. EDIT: Niiiiiiiiiiice. This turned out pretty well. Or rather, this produced results. We'll see how it turns out later. Found a new way to use Voice of Command, it looks like. Edited by Hymn of Ragnarok, Feb 10 2013, 10:38 PM.

So, uh, do we take Joo Dee with? I don't really want to leave her behind, where if she begins to recover, Katara can poison her against us. At the same time, Katara would be handy to have with us to assist in the healing process, but I don't want to take Katara with us on any trip, either. Edit: Let's get Ty Lee here to look at Joo Dee's aura. It might tell us something. Edited by MacroDaemon, Feb 10 2013, 10:43 PM.

[x]Get Full explanation out of Katara on the issue of diagnostics. [x]Consider explaining to her that we have gained favor of Raijin and this was why we were able to do what we did. [x]Get Toph to listen to your heartbeat. [x]Practice voice of command with Air instead of inner flames. Because if you can do this, it means that it isn't a Fire Technique. At all. And while you can't affect water people with fire version, you may be able to do so with air one. And practicing it with air may lead to an overall breakthrough. [x]Wait for JooDee to regain consciousness --[x]If needed ,have Katara administer physical side of healing Because guys, this means that Voice of Command is not bending. At all. Or not Fire bending. My best guess? It's energy bending. Bending the energy within oneself. Also, note how JooDee doesn't have inner fire. Only air, water and earth. Edited by Yog, Feb 10 2013, 10:49 PM.
