Who all is getting in on this?

So far we got me, Lone, and Sigma in on it, anyone else interested?

I got Eyesack to play on it while he had net access. Unfortunately, he is extremely inexperienced, to the point where his "Uber tier" team got stomped by my RU. Apparently, Steelix beats Giratina, albeit by the narrowest of margins.

Nice, Did he have a good moveset on it, or was it just trash that looked good?

It seemed fine until I got to the Zoroark posing as a Krookodile

Seeing as Zoroark and Krookodile are both UU, I'm thinking that when you say "Uber tier" team, you don't actually mean an Uber team.

It also had Giratina and Lugia. Other than that, yeah...

Giratina or Giratina-O? Not that it matters, they're both Uber.

Regular Giratina I believe. Either way, the "testing" we did today indicated two things:
1. Sigma should get a Scrafty tattoo
2. I should get a Crobat tattoo

It makes me glad that Scrafty is good for competitive battles. Using him in the games, I could tell he was something special. Much more so than Zebstrika.

It offends me more than you can possibly know that Gyrados is OU. :rage: It should rot in the very bottoms of NU for being an overrated piece of shit that only became playable in Gen IV because it could finally learn STAB moves that fired off of a relevant stat. But did that stop everyone from fangirling over it? Oh no. I "fondly" remember my childhood, where everyone and their dog was running around with a Gyrados and they thought it was the coolest thing ever, no doubt because they had put so much effort into evolving a Magikarp that their brains were forced to pretend that it was in any way, shape, or form playable so that all that effort wasn't wasted.
At least Charizard is where it belongs. I can take comfort in that.

EDIT: ... Why did the forum duplicate the first post at the top of the new page?

I am more than slightly mad. For totally non-hipster reasons.
The forum seems to display the OP on each new page. I guess it assumes we have the attention span of goldfish and can't remember what we're supposed to be talking about.

Someone should fiddle around with the forum's control panel and see if they can fix that, then. You know, someone with the moderator privileges required to access the control panel. Hint hint, nudge nudge.

I think Gyarados fills a niche. If you want a Water-type that can do a good job attacking physically, it's pretty much your only option. I'm pretty sure it has Dragon Dance too, which would help boost his speed up to usable levels.

I never said I liked Zetaboards, But I couldn't figure out how to get an Invisionfree board, so this will have to do.

I can't find it in the Admin CP. Maybe Arc will have better luck?
I'm also not contesting the usability of Gyrados (Gen IV onwards naturally). That said I still hate it more than everything in fiction with the possible exception of Cervantes and the definite exception of the Sleep status ailment. Because, as we all know, sleep can't just be obnoxious in Pokémon. It has to be the mechanic needed to survive the most troll boss fight in any video game ever.

Don't worry Lone, ATLUS has heard your cries and asked Nintendo to buff sleep during Gen V. By the way, if you've gotten Eyesack playing Pokemon, you should get him to join us here, too.

Eyesack will be joining us here eventually, along with a few other people that I assume have been getting completely black-out wasted for the last few weeks. Eventually, things will be done. Probably.
In other news, UU has a severe shortage of Electric types and dudes that can learn Rapid Spin. Discuss.

Of the Pokemon in the UU tier, the only Electric types are Zapdos, Raikou, and Rotom-H. Raikou and Zapdos are both commonly seen in UU battles, ranking as the 5th and 8th most commonly used Pokemon in the tier. They both share similar form and function, as their stats are similar and they both provide wide type coverage with their moves (making choice and Life Orb sets common), though they do differ in some ways that allow for different potential sets between the two. Zapdos has access to Roost, while Raikou is limited to Rest in terms of recovery. Zapdos also has access to Agility, giving it the ability to outspeed the otherwise-faster Raikou along with a number of other Pokemon and potentially saving it from being revenge killed. Raikou, on the other hand, learns Calm Mind, which is commonly used in sets alongside Substitute and Leftovers to create a bulky special attacker. In addition, Raikou gets Aura Sphere as an event move, giving it a way to try and deal with Snorlax and Rhyperior. Both Pokemon also have access to pool of physical moves which can be used and a usable Attack stat, but builds centered on a physical offense are less common because their Special Attack stats are much higher and because there are better options for a physical attacker in the tier, such as Heracross, Mienshao, and Darmanitan.

Defensively, Raikou offers a little more special bulk (and access to to the aforementioned Calm Mind) while Zapdos has a slightly higher Defense. Raikou's popular Substitute+Calm Mind set typically runs Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Ice to gain a great coverage against a variety of other Pokemon. Zapdos of course also has access to the pseudo-BoltBeam combo, but has better recovery because of Roost. Because of Zapdos' lack of Calm Mind, it has a spare move slot over Raikou that can be used to run moves like Toxic or Thunder Wave, both of which are good options for just about any defensive Pokemon. The two Pokemon both share the situation of being locked into the ability Pressure until their Dream World abilities (LightningRod for Zapdos and Volt Absorb for Raikou) are released. Pressure is an useful ability for bulky Zapdos since it can potentially stall out the PP on moves like Ice Beam and Stone Edge, but Raikou's Calm Mind set isn't actually meant to stall as much as get enough time to set up, so Pressure is less useful for Raikou. In terms of Type, Zapdos' secondary Flying-Type means it is immune to the ever-present Earthquake, but it gains weaknesses to Ice and Rock, which is very unfortunate given the prevalence of Stealth Rock. However, it also gains access to STAB on its Flying Type moves, which makes Zapdos great for dealing with the many Fighting-Types in UU. It should also be noted that because the Flying-Type voids Zapdos' resistance to Electric attacks, Raikou is able defeat Zapdos in a straight-up fight, especially since it is usually faster.

Rotom-H is another subject entirely separate from Zapdos and Raikou, but no one cares about it. Also, Rapid Spin is a move that gets rid of entry hazards and if someone is using it in UU, it's probably Blastoise.

Of course you can always go to the lower tiers and fish for playable dudes, but there aren't many electric types there either.

This is because challenge cup sucks.

I'm free all day if anyone wants to play. Working on an OU team...and I'm not impressed with what I'm seeing there.
