| The name was shortened to make room >_< Anyway, welcome to the ROBLOX Bookwriters club! This is essentially the site for the ROBLOX group, bookwriters club. Since we all know that ROBLOX's filter can be fairly strict, to the point where you have to use fancy wording to tell your readers the age of your characters, we made this to free our bookwriting capabilities. Message me, and I can run through your book for filtered words, then post it on the forums! |

THE NAME GAME SYDNEY 1 The air was brisk. The cold frost hit any open skin on my body. I pulled the scarf tighter around my neck and shivered. Walking to the schoolhouse across the village, I gripped the bag in my hand and started running. The sooner I got out of this cold air, the better. When I had started running, the air got colder and harsher against me. I pulled my hat more over my forehead and my face. Turns out I pulled my hat too far over my eyes because the next thing I knew I was on the ground, my books spilled out all over the snow. Sitting up, I caught sight of my journal open and spread out across the snow. I reached for it, closed it, and threw it into the bag. Then, something startled me. No, not something. Someone. “Are you okay?” I heard a boy’s voice say above me. I looked up and saw a tall boy about the same age as me, twelve. “Well, are you?” I nodded slowly. “Here, I’ll help.” He started grabbing books and putting them into the bag. Who was this kid, and why was he helping me? “Who are you?” I asked, slowly getting to my feet. “I’m Chris.” He made something like a wink. In my village, Purina, everyone has a name. I know, everyone everywhere has a name. But here, we have unnatural names. My nana always told me stories about famous people from Purina and their names. But, she always said, you can never say your real name. Your real name has so much power that it can burn you up. Everyone in the world has a secret name. The names people tell you to call them, such as Chris and Katie and others, those are just fake names. Everyone in the world has a fake name and a secret name. If someone learns your secret name, they can use it against you, and use power over you to make you do things they want you to do. My nana always said it was so true, truer than an elephant loving peanuts, she said. I nodded, knowing he knew about secret names. “I am Katherine. Call me Katie.” He smiled. I didn’t smile, but I nodded. Chris handed me the bag. “We should get to school, shouldn’t we?” I nodded again. “Maybe I should call you Noddy. It’s all you do.” Chris laughed at his own joke, and started off to the schoolhouse. I followed closely behind. I went straight inside the school building, and took a left to my class. It was writing first this morning, which, unfortunately for me, was at the back of the school. I opened my locker, which was next to the art room, and put the bag in. I took out my journal and turned around, almost screaming. Chris was standing right behind me, staring at me blankly. “What the heck is wrong with you?” “The bell hasn’t rung yet. Just saying. What do you have there?” He was staring at my journal. He could probably tell it wasn’t a school journal because on the front was a picture of me and my dad. “Oh…just an old journal of mine. It’s not very interesting, just a bunch of…writing…” “Hey!” I yelled when he pulled it out of my grasp. Chris opened it and started flipping through all my art, all my drawings. All my funniest dreams, my scariest nightmares. All my shortest information stories, all my longest fantasies. All my craziest imaginations, all my imaginary friends’ pictures and descriptions. Everything. “Whoa…” he mumbled, looking at every page. “you made all this stuff?” I nodded vaguely. His eyes widened. “You created a superhero?” he asked, showing the page he was on to me. The superhero was a girl; she was called Clementine. I made her when I was six. She was a superhero that helped make sure kids got their nutrients. “That helps makes kids healthier?” He added, slightly less enthusiastic. “I made her when I was six, okay? Ma always told me that I need to be healthy to grow big and tall.” “Makes more sense now.” I took the book out of his hands. The bell rang a moment afterwards. I started to walk away, but Chris grabbed my arm and stopped me. “What class do you have now?” “Writing. Why?” “Just wanted to know. We have the same class. Come on, let’s go.” Chris walked at a very fast pace. It was hard to keep up, but somehow I managed. Once we reached the classroom, the class had already started on everything. Every student had out their writing journals and No. 2 pencils. They all looked up and stared at Chris and I. “Katie. Chris. Go to your seats. You’re late.” The teacher, Ms. Cumberland, complained to us as we walked in quickly. I went to my normal desk in the back of the class. My name-Katie, not my Secret Name-was etched into the desk like everyone else’s. I opened my journal only to realize it was my Imagination Journal. I closed it quickly and grabbed my writing journal out of my desk. My pencil was gone, so I raised my hand. Ms. Cumberland stared at her desk for a while, then finally looked up in my direction. “Yes?” She asked sharply. “My pencil isn’t on my desk.” I said, feeling childish for my high, squeaky voice. My teacher smiled bitterly. “I must have forgotten to put one on your desk. Probably because you were so late that I thought you were absent.” I winced. She really knows how to make me feel guilty for silly things that I can make up for. She walked from the front of the room to my desk and put a No. 2 pencil atop my desk. She gave me another one of her I hate you; I regret ever allowing you into my classroom looks. The only reason she still lets me stay in this class is because I am a great writer. It’s going to be a long day, I thought. 2 “Katie, honey, could you hand me that apple? We picked those while you were at school. I know you love apple-picking, but you know your sisters’ conditions. Their medicine is apples, and we had none left. Abigail was already starting to swell up. You understand, right? I swear on my heart that you will get to go apple-picking next time.” “Yes, Ma. I understand.” I handed her the apple and walked into the next room, my twin sisters’ bedroom. I looked at my ill sisters, Abigail and Sophia. They were lying in their beds with their eyes closed and chests pumping up and down. They had an illness called hetrophobia. It’s a very rare illness that you can only get from a plant. If you eat the plant, anyway. They had been on a hike with their friends from school. The bigger of the friends dared them to eat a strange six-leafed plant that was on the trail. So they did, and they have been infected ever since. Edited by syd52, Jun 28 2012, 11:43 AM.

Hey, This is a great book. I love the story-line and the characters, But the only problem is the base of this story is kind of from the Inheritance Cycle(Eragon, Eldest, Brissinger, And inheritance) In there, everyone has a true name that if someone else learns it, they have complete control over you. |

I understand. I had started writing this thinking I had thought this up myself, but now I understand I had taken an idea. Soon, I'll start writing a new story and try to find a unused topic. |

@Snipe, there's a lot of media where people have secret names. |
