Prologue: Opposites attract...Is this really true? Can two completely different things really be drawn towards each other? This fact has not been true for a while...for my town, that is. I live in a town named Hikari no Mura. I moved there a few weeks ago with my mom and sister. My father died a while ago...We neven knew why or how though... Anyway, ever since I moved to no Mura, people have been treating me strange. Every time I walk by people they will stop what they are doing just to look at me. It's odd... My name is Takuto Fujiwara... Chapter 1: "It is a warm morning. The streets are silent, and no one is outside. It is a peaceful day. It is also the day that the youth of Hikari no Mura were to begin their next level of education. The town contains three major schools; Shogakko Akarui, Chuo ni Kagayaku, and Takahikaru. These schools have been awarded for having the least disciplinary problems in their existance. I am attending Takahikaru starting today. I have 30 minutes until I have to begin walking to school. I think I'll close up here..." Takuto sighed and put his journal back inside of the drawer inside his desk. He was overly stressed because of going to an all new school and having to meet all new friends. Smiling, Takuto grabbed his bag and slung it over his shoulder. He walked downstairs, and grabbed shoes. "Mom, I'm heading off to school now," he stated. From the kitchen, his mom peeked her head out of the doorway. "Goodbye sweetie, be safe and have a good day." "I will," he nodded. Slipping on his shoes, he opened the front door and stepped outside. Taking a short breather, he closed his eyes and imagined what the day would be like. "Don't get on anyone's nerves and you'll be fine Kuto..." he whispered to himself. After his reassurance, he headed towards the gate at the end of the path leading to his house. Unlocking it, he swung it open, and stepped outside the gate. Suddenly, someone knocked him over. "Tch...hey wa-" he started. When he looked up he saw a girl standing before him. She was kind of tall, with black hair and blue eyes. "S-sorry!" she appologized, "Let me help you up..." Looking up at her he grinned, "Hey, it was my fault for not looking where I was going." Taking her hand, he pulled himself up. When she looked at his clothes, she perked up a bit. "H-hey, are you going to Takahikaru too?" "Yeah," he replied, "I'm starting my first year as a freshman." Looking at him she blushed a bit, "Me too..." Nodding, Takuto picked up his bag from the ground. He saw that it was torn a little. but he didn't mind. "My name is Takuto," he told her. "Okasan..." she exclaimed. Beaming at her, he laughed happily. "Nice to meet you, Okasan-chan." She moved a bit of hair away from her eyes. "Nice to meet you too, Takuto-kun..." Then, Okasan's expression changed. "I-I'm going to be late!" she shrieked. "I'll talk to you later, Takuto-kun!" With that said, she rushed off towards the school in a hurry. "I'll see you later too..." Takuto whispered quietly. Coming back to his senses, he began walking towards Takahikaru. He was one of the last ones to get into the school. He fumbled around in his pocket, and eventually pulled out a folded up piece of paper. Hastily unfolding it, he read the text written on it. "Room 12" Looking around, he began to wander the halls looking for his classroom. "9...10...11...12! Here's my class," he stated aloud. Sliding the door open, he stepped inside. To his amazement, the room was already busy with activity. People were gathered around desks deep in conversation. He looked around, and picked out a seat in the back corner by the window. Looking around more, he put his bag on the side of his desk. He smiled a bit, and noticed something. When he looked towards the door, he noticed Okasan standing there. "O-Okasan?!" he muttered, almost falling out of his seat. Spotting him, she smiled and walked over to him. "Hello Takuto-kun," she giggled. "Hey," he said, regaining his cool. "It looks like we are in the same class..." she smiled. Nodding in reply, Takuto drummed his fingers on his desk. Quickly observing the room, Okasan took the seat diagonal from Takuto. Soon, the teacher walked into the room. "Suwaru!" he yelled. At the hearing of his command the students sat down in their chairs. "Ohayo," the teacher breathed. "Ohayo," the class replied. "Welcome to Takahikaru. I am your teacher, Sensei Shimitaro. This is Room 12, and we will be in that position in class line-ups activities," The class nodded and took in the information. "Now I will begin role." Taking out the sheet of paper that contained the students' names, he began reading. "Ayaharu, Bakushi, Bitore, Dakune, Fujiwara." At the sound of his last name Takuto sat up. "Hai!" he exclaimed. Nodding, the teacher continued on. "Sakamoto" "Here..." Okasan said. Takuto glanced over at her. "Her last name is Sakamoto..." he thought. After a while, class ended. They were dismissed, and they continued on with the day. Before they knew it, it was lunchtime. Takuto and Okasan had all of their classes together. In the hallway, Okasan stopped Takuto. "Do you want to have lunch with me and my friends, Takuto-kun?" she asked. "Sure," he replied. She smiled and pointed towards the cafeteria. "This way..." she said leading him there. When they entered, they approached a table towards the back of the room. "These are my friends..." Okasan stated quietly. "Hanako," she pointed to a girl with yellow-orange hair and blue eyes, "and Shuya" she said pointing to a boy with light brown hair. "But...where's Nami-chan?" Hanako looked around the area. "Ooh, I don't know! I think she wandered off," she exclaimed. "She always wanders off," Shuya said. "I'll go find her," Hanako said, rising from the bench. "I'm here..." Quickly turning around, Takuto spotted a small girl with dark hair that covers her eyes standing behind him. "Nami-chan!" Hanako said, rushing to the other side of the table, "Stop running off like that! Geez..." Everyone began laughing. "I was getting a drink of water..." Nami said, pulling a thermos of water from behind her and placing it on the table. "Ummm...Oka? Who's your friend?" Hanako asked. Okasan looked up at the ceiling! "Oh! This is Takuto-kun!" she said, holding her hands in front of her face. "Sorry...I almost forgot to introduce you..." she appologized. "It's okay," he accepted, "Hi everyone." "Hi" the others said in unison. Takuto sat down, Okasan sitting next to him. "This school is different..." Takuto muttered under his breath. Okasan looked at her friends, and realized they had their food. "Oh! Takuto-kun! Let's get our food," she said, nodding a few times. "Alright," Takuto said, standing. They went into line and got their food, and quickly sat back down. "Why don't you tell us something about yourself, Takuto." Shuya declared. "Ooh! I want to know about Takuto-kun, too!" Hanako cheered. Takuto smiled. "Well...I moved here a few weeks ago from a village in the mountains. It is a very poor place there. There was a lot of crime...My father died there from unknown reasons. It was...a bad place. That's why my mother decided to move us out here, to Hikari no Mura." he finished. "That place sounds bad..." Nami stated quietly. The table was silent for a few moments, then Okasan spoke. "Hey...Um, let's all meet up somewhere after school. I'm sure it will be fun!" "Oh yeah! Let's go to Kashu's" Hanako chirped. "Uh...What's Kashu's?" Takuto asked. Everyone at the table stared at him. "You don't know what Kashu's is?! How have you been here for weeks and not have heard of Kashu's!?" Shuya screeched. The girls around the table began to giggle. "Ehh...Sorry for my outburst..." he said rubbing the back of his head. "Don't worry about it bro," Takuto replied. "Kashu's is this big arcade in the middle of town connected to the mall." Nami said. "Sounds cool," said Takuto smiling. "It is! You can win prizes, and they have indoor rides and there's even this secret bathouse..." Hanako began, but she was cut off by Nami's hand covering her mouth. "Don't tell him about the secret bathouse yet!" She hissed into her ear. "Sorry..." Hanako said awkwardly. "So, we're agreed then?" Okasan spoke up. "Yeah" said Takuto nodding. Okasan looked around at her friends and they all nodded. "Alright then...Meet me at the intersection across the street" she said happily. Chapter 2: After lunch, they continued on with the day, and then they were dismissed from school. Takuto went to grab his bag from the side of the desk but it was gone. "Huh...I thought I left it right here..." he sighed, looking around hastily. While he was searching, he briefly looked out the window. He saw his bag peeking out from under one of the metal trashbins. "Wha-How did it get out there??" he asked suspiciously. Quickly running out of the classroom, he darted outside and to the metal trashbin. He tugged on the strap, but it wouldn't come loose. "Tch..." he attempted to lift the lid, but it wouldn't budge. "That's strange..." he tried lifting it again, but this time it flew right up. The next thing he knew he was on the ground lying in a pile of trash bags. "Ugh...What the heck..." he groaned. He stood up and looked at the trashbin. It was still wide open, so he decided to approach it. When he got close enough to look inside, something sprung out of the bin and knocked him against the ground. He cried in pain as he landed on his right shoulder, and felt something clawing at him. At first he thought it was a cat, but then he saw it was a snarling beast with rows of sharp fangs and long tentacles coming off of it. He tried to scream out, but his voice wouldn't work. Looking around, he saw a glass bottle lying on the ground. He grabbed the thing around its neck and pried it off of him, slamming it into the wall. Quickly scrambling over to the glass bottle, he broke it, planning to use the sharp edges as a shanking tool. Looking over his shoulder, he saw the monster recovering, so he dashed over to it and jabbed the sharp broken bottle deep into the monster's body. He took the bottle out, and black blood was dripping all over his hand. The monster writhed and shrieked in pain. Takuto stabbed the monster, forcing the sharp edges through it's neck. The monster's shrieked louder, and then it became still. He dropped the body, sending it crashing to the pavement. The monster's body began bubbling, and then it turned into a sizzling black liquid, which sank into the ground. Breathing heavily, Takuto wiped the monster blood off of his hands with a dirty cloth, and grabbed his bag. Checking his cellphone, he saw that he was extremely late, and he sprinted to the intersection across from the school. He was a bit calmer when he saw everyone waiting for him, but Hanako had an annoyed look on her face. "Hey! Where were you! You kept us waiting!" she yelled. "I...I had to...find my bag" Takuto replied, out of breath. Hanako walked closer to him, then she backed up. "You smell like you've been swimming in the dumpster. Yuck!" "I was...kinda..." Takuto thought. "Hanako..Calm down," Okasan said, then she turned her attention to Takuto. "Takuto-kun is here now...so we can go to Kashu's" "Fine..," Hanako complained, "But he smells like dead fish" "You might have to show him the bathouse after all..." Nami giggled. The walk to Kashu's was a short one, but it was worth it. What Takuto saw was amazing. He saw a game area bigger than his house, and the section of indoor rides was electrifying. Hanako took Takuto by the arm and led him to a door in the back, hidden behind an old video game that was put out of service years ago. "This is our secret bathouse," she said, cringing her nose a bit. "Go in and take one." Takuto stumbled through the door and she closed it behind him. Takuto sighed, and took of his clothes and left them to soak in the water. He got in and began to wash himself. He washed the smell of trash off of him, and saw that his clothes wouldn't be dry for a while. Looking around the room, he saw a pile of clothes by the entrance door. He padded over and scopped them up in his arms. "Ehh..." he sighed. Quickly putting them on, he put his wet clothes over his arm and exited the bathouse. Looking around for his friends, he spotted them over at the food area having a playful chat. He walked over to them and sat down. "Finally done, huh?" Hanako said with a giggle. She leaned across the table and sniffed the air by him. "Much better! Well done!" she said with a wide grin on her face. "Heh...yeah..." Takuto said, confused. He felt a tap on his shoulder. Quickly turning around, he saw Okasan standing behind him holding out a crepe to him. "Here...I thought you would be hungry," she smiled. "Thanks!" he said, grabbing it. She sat down across the table from him. "Hey, where did Shuya go?" she asked. "Ummm....He said he had to leave" Hanako said, remembering. "Oh, ok" Okasan said grimly, "He's going to miss out" "Yeah," Takuto nodded, enjoying his crepe. "This is good." Okasan giggled and laid her head down on the table. "Gee...What should we play first?" she asked quizzingly. "Ummmm...I don't know. Maybe the giant claw machine?" Hanako said cheerfuly. There was a slurping sound, and the group turned to see Nami holding a giant plushie and slurping on an Icee. "It was fun..." Takuto laughed and nodded. "Sounds like it was" "Then let's do it!" Hanako exclaimed. She led Takuto over to the giant box that was the crane game. "Wow...That's giant!" he said in awe. "Yeah," she opened the door on the side and pushed him in. "About this game...YOU have to be the crane!" she laughed. "Wh-what!? That's crazy!" he said hoarsly. "C'mon, it'll be fun!" she said, hooking the straps up to him. "Okay...If you say so..." Takuto nervously stated. She skipped to the controls of the machine, and put in 5 coins. "Okay! Here I go! Oka, get over here!" she chirped. Okasan came walking over to her and spotted Takuto hooked up to the machine. "Oh boy..." she giggled. Hanako smiled and she started moving the joystick forward, which moved the crane forward as well. "I'm aiming for the biggest one so get a tight grip!" she shrieked. She moved the crane over a teddy bear that was almost as tall as Takuto. "Now! Grab it now, Takuto-kun!" she laughed, pressing the drop button. Takuto felt the crane drop, and he grabbed onto one of the bear's arms. "I..I got it!" he yelled. "Hold on! Help me, Oka!" she said, pulling on the joystick. Okasan grabbed onto it and started pulling along with her. Takuto held tight onto the bear's arm, and pulled it loose from the other plushies in the box. "I'm going to try this!" he said, beginning to swing the bear under him. He flung it into the drop box and made a wild grab for another plushie. This one was a smaller white bear with a star on the stomach. He grabbed it by the head and held onto it tight. "Get ready to be released, Takuto-kun!" Okasan called out. "Okay!" he nodded. The crane hovered over the drop box, and then the straps released him. He was sent tumbling onto a soft, pillow-like surface, and landed on the ground outside the machine. "Two in one, nice!" Hanako sang. "I thought I would win two, since Nami already had one and because I just won one for Hanako. It would be fair if I got one for Okasan-chan too" he grinned. "Awww...That's so nice Takuto-kun..." Okasan blushed. He smiled at her and handed her the bear. "Here" he beamed. She took the bear and hugged it. "Arigato..." she blushed again. Takuto smiled, but then he was tackled from behind by Hanako. "Ooh, it's so cool! Thank you Takuto-kun!" she said, squeezing him tightly. "No...problem" Takuto breathed. Nani tugged on Takuto's shirt sleeve. "What's the time?" "Oh yeah, hold on" Takuto said, whipping out his phone. "It's 20 minutes until curfew" Takuto gasped. "We'd better get home then..." Hanako smiled, "Let's go, guys." The group left Kashu's, heading for their seperate homes. "That was fun" Hanako yawned. "See you tomorrow, Nami-tan, Oka-tan, Takuto-kun" she nodded at the three of them and walked up the path to her house. "I'll be going too..." Nami said. She walked up the street until she was out of sight. "I hope she'll be okay..." Takuto whispered. "She willl. She's tough," Okasan smiled. "How far do you live?" Takuto asked. "Ummm...I live at that house with the white roof," she said, pointing off in the distance to a house with a white roof that seems to be glowing. "I can see it from here..." Takuto breathed. "Yeah...It's the light reflecting off the roof like a mirror" Okasan blushed. "It's beautiful..." Takuto smiled. "Yeah..." Okasan quietly said, "Well...Let's go" They walked up the street until they reached Okasan's house. "We're here...Thank you for the nice evening, Takuto-kun..." she said, bowing. Takuto nodded and bowed back. "Oyasumi" she said, her skin glowing in the light. "Oyasumi" Takuto replied. He watched her until she closed the front door, then he headed back towards his house. He walked slowly, hands in his pockets. Takuto had a lot on his mind. Outside the front gate, he saw something glow in the darkness behind his house. He thought he had saw two red eyes. Blinking a few times, Takuto rubbed his eyes, but then he saw nothing. "I'm just tired..." he told himself. Takuto walked up the rocky path, and opened the door. "I'm home, mom" he called out. "Welcome home Takuto. Did you have a good day at school?" she asked, coming from upstairs. "Yeah. I met some nice people" he replied. "That's good. I knew moving here would be best" she smiled. " Your sister is already asleep. Oh! And Yushiro called," "Sakairi is asleep...good" Takuto thought. "Really? Why did he call?" "He said he wanted to know how you were doing." she replied. "I'll call him tomorrow. Oyasumi, mom" Takuto said, going past her up to his room. "Oyasumi" she called after him. Takuto closed the door to his room and changed into comfortable pants and took off his shirt. Wearing his T-Shirt to bed, Takuto crawled into bed and fell asleep instantly. Chapter 3: "Takuto...Come into the Darkness...We...await you..." Takuto woke up with a start. He looked around to see who was speaking. "That's strange..." he sighed, "I thought someone was talking to me..." Turning his head, he looked out the window. It was morning. He climbed out of bed and dragged himself over to the door. He let out a yawn and opened it. On the floor, he saw his clothes neatly folded on the floor, and he picked them up. Closing his door, he grogily walked to the bathroom, finding that it was empty. "Thank you..." he said sleepily. He went into the bathroom and took off his clothes. Turning on the bath water, he waited until it was the perfect temperature and climbed in. He let himself rest for awhile, the steamy water calming his nerves from his nightmare. "What was that dream about...Who was speaking to me..." Relaxing, he sank his chest under the water and blew bubbles with his mouth. "I'll relax at school. Hopefully I'll meet Okasan-chan on the way," he smiled at the thought. After washing up, he climbed out of the tub and drained the water; Then he put on his uniform. The smell of breakfast drifted past his nose and he grinned. "Breakfast" Takuto opened the door and headed down the hallway towards the stairs. He made his way down and took his seat at the kitchen table. A few minutes later his sister entered the room. "Geez Kuto...You used up all the warm water," she frowned. Takuto chuckled quietly to himself. "Wake up earlier, Sakairi" She sat down across from him. "I saw you walking a girl home last night," Sakairi said with a hint of interest. "Eh...That's none of your business, girl." Sakairi smiled at him. "She's your girlfriend." Takuto flinched. "No she's not! We're just friends...That's all..." Takuto felt himself blushing. "You like her" Sakairi smirked. "As a friend! N-nothing more..." Takuto growled. "Can we please get off of this topic, Sakairi" "You like her! I knew it!" Sakairi said leaning back in her chair. "But whatever. I can see its a touchy subject for you." Takuto sighed from relief when his mother placed the food on the table. "Arigato" he nodded. "Doitshimashite" his mother replied. Takuto began eating his breakfast and did it quickly. He finished in a few minutes and stood up from his chair. "I'm going" he rushed. "Bye...Onii-chan..." Sakairi muttered. Takuto quickly gripped his shoes and slipped them onto his feet, and headed out the door. He rushed down the path and hopped over the gate, not bothering to open it. He looked around for Okasan, but she was no where in sight. "I missed her..." he sighed. "Takuto-kun!!!" Takuto turned to see Okasan running towards him. "Okasan-chan!" he called out. "Sorry...I had trouble getting out of the house today...I overslept" she smiled weakly. "I can tell. You look tired" Takuto grinned. "Let's get going to school..." Okasan nodded. "Haii..." Takuto replied. The two began to walk to school together leisurely. "Takuto-kun..." Okasan said, glancing at Takuto. "Yes?" he replied. "What...do you think of me?" Okasan said with a slight blush. "Hmmm...You're a really nice person and friendly." Takuto smiled. "You are too, Takuto-kun! You are really nice!" she said, flustered. Takuto beamed at her. "People would think...From where I come from, I would act the same way they do...But, I'm...different" he stated, looking at the sky. "Yes. You are different...In a good way, I mean! You are nicer than many people here..." Okasan said quietly. "I know." Takuto whispered. He began to think about what Sakairi said earlier. "Takuto-kun" Takuto blinked, his train of thought lost. "Huh? What?" "We are at school..." Okasan smiled. "Ah, I see" Takuto said feeling a bit embarassed. "Umm, let's get to class before the bell rings today." said Okasan, giggling. "Right" Takuto and Okasan walked to class and sat in their seats right before the bell rang. "Just in time too..." Takuto thought. The teacher walked in, and called everyone to their seats. He took role and then class began. Sensei Shimitaro was a science teacher, so he taught them biology. They learned about human anatomy and how the body works. "I feel...like I already know this" Takuto thought. He decided to take out a piece of paper and draw. He let his mind wander while drawing. When he refocused, he saw that he drew something stange. Takuto had drawn the beast that had attacked him the other day. "Yami kurora..." he mumbled. That was weird..." he thought. He remembered how the monster moved, exactly how it looked. Takuto drew it exactly how it was, down to the smallest detail. He took the piece of paper and crumbled it into a ball, tossing it across the room towards the garbage bin. Unfortunately, his throw fell short. The paper ball hit someone in the head, and his immediate reaction was to stand and face the assailant. Takuto saw him stand and he shrank down in his chair a little. The boy stomped over to Takuto and grabbed him by the shirt. "Did you throw this at me?! Huh?! Did you?" the boy growled, knocking Takuto out of his char. "It was an accident...I was aiming for the trash." "Kamuto! Sit!" the two boys turned to see the teacher looking directly at them. "Yes sir..." he muttered. Kamuto walked back over to his seat and sat down, not taking his eyes off of Takuto. Takuto hoped class would end soon. His prayers were answered when the bell rang. Takuto rushed out of the classroom and towards his next class fast. He had a few more feet to go. Takuto was almost there, when something slammed him into the wall. Dazed, Takuto got a glimpse of who his attacker was. "Kamuto..." he muttered. "I didn't get the chance to repay you for hitting me in the head with that paper ball," he sneered. Takuto sighed and looked at Kamuto in the eyes. "You have anger issues" he breathed. "What did you say?!" Kamuto growled. He brought his fist back to punch Takuto. Takuto ducked and the punch missed him, then he moved to the left of Kamuto. "What the..." Kamuto growled. He went for a grab but Takuto was quick. He stepped out of the way and tripped Kamuto. Takuto smiled to himself. Suddenly, someone grabbed Takuto from behind in a headlock. "Tch..." he said, choking. Kamuto stood to fact Takuto, wiping his mouth. "Hey, you're fast. But you aren't fast enough!" He laughed and began punching Takuto hard in the stomach. Takuto flinched, and he tried to struggle against the person's grasp. "Let me...go..." he breathed. Kamuto smiled at Takuto. "You should know not to mess with me," Kamuto punched Takuto hard in the eye, causing Takuto to suffer from a black eye. "Gh..." Takuto groaned in pain. Suddenly, he felt a strange tingly feeling in his body. Takuto closed his eyes, and his pupils began to glow black. When he opened them he saw everything as a shadow. He stomped on the person holding him's foot, and then broke free from his grasp. He lunged towards him, punching him hard in the chest, sending him flying across the hallway into a row of lockers. "What the!" Kamuto gasped. Takuto turned on Kamuto, glaring. "Get your friend and go...Now!" he commanded, his voice sounding dark. Kamuto nodded, rushing to his friend's aid, and dragging him off. Takuto blinked a few times and his vision returned to normal. "What...was that?" Takuto muttered. Suddenly, Takuto felt a shock go through his body, and he collapsed to the floor. The last thing he heard were footsteps and the sound of someone calling his name before entering the swirling darkness of unconciousness. Chapter 4: Takuto woke up in a soft bed in the nurse's office. "How did I end up in here?" he thought. He tilted his head up and looked around the room. The room was quiet and the nurse was nowhere in sight. He heard someone opening the door so he quickly laid back down. Takuto heard the person sit on the bed. He opened his eyes to see who it was. "Okasan..." he whispered. Okasan noticed that he was awake. "Sorry! Did I wake you?" she asked. "No...I was already awake" Takuto replied. "Oh! Okay, that's good." she smiled. "Where's the nurse?" Takuto wondered. "Someone twisted their ankle in gym and she went to check it out" Okasan nodded. "Takuto-kun...What happened to you? I...found you passed out in the hallway with a black eye. Did you get into a fight?" "I don't remember...It's all fuzzy" Takuto said, feeling the pain of the black eye. Okasan had a sad look on her face. "School will be over soon. Do you want me to help you get home?" she asked. "Sure" Takuto grinned, "walking with you will make me feel safer" Okasan blushed. "That's cool..." They heard the bell ring, signaling the end of the day. Takuto stood up, a little dizzy but he managed to stay up. He walked with Okasan to their classroom and they grabbed their bags, heading out the door. They exited the school and began walking home. Takuto managed to keep a conversation going with Okasan until they reached his house. "It looks like we're here..." Okasan quietly noted. "Yeah..." Takuto said. They were quiet for a few moments, and then Okasan gently kissed Takuto on his cheek. "Stay safe. OK?" she blushed. "I...I will" Takuto said, looking away. Okasan smiled and turned towards her house. "Oh! There is a field trip tomorrow, Takuto-kun!" she remembered. "Cool. See you then?" Takuto asked. "Yeah. See you..." Okasan said, heading towards her house. Takuto stood looking at her for a while. "She kissed me..." he said, keeping one hand on his cheek. He smiled and went through the gate up to his front door. He slid it open and saw his sister waiting. "I saw that" she said with a grin. Takuto sighed and wondered why she hasn't asked him about his eye. "Does my eye look swollen?" he asked. "No, why?" Sakairi asked. Takuto rushed upstairs into the bathroom. He slammed the door shut and looked in the mirror. He saw that his black eye was gone. There was no trace of it left. "What the...It's gone," he gasped. He opened his eye and he could see perfectly out of it. "What happened..." he wondered. Takuto left the bathroom and plopped down on his bed in his room. He looked through his bag and saw that he had a few sheet of homework in there. "Okasan-chan probably put them in there..." he thought. Taking them out, he grabbed a pencil and started on them. He was finished around 20 minutes and neatly put the papers inside his bag. He realized he hadn't heard from his mother since he got home so he went downstairs. "Sakairi, where is mom?" he asked. "She went to the store," she replied. "Ah, okay. What are you doing?" Takuto curiously said. "Homework," Sakairi mumbles, chewing on the end of her pencil. "What class?" Takuto asked. "Ummm...I think Math" she replied. "Do you need help?" Takuto laughed. "No," Sakairi said, annoyed. "I can do it myself Onii-chan." "Hey I was just offering," he grinned. "You're distracting me!" Sakairi yelled. "I'm sorry I'll leave now" Takuto chuckled, leaving the room. He went into his room and closed the door. Remembering the kiss, he blushed. "W-Why did she do that?" he asked. "She was probably just concerned...That's all" He thought about the sudden encounter with the monster in the garbage. "And...What was that thing I killed? Why did it attack me? Geez...this has been a weird first two days of school...I think I'll get something to eat and then go to bed early." Takuto left his room and went downstairs into the kitchen. He passed Sakairi and grabbed a snack to eat, and returned to his room. Laying down on his bed, he took out his cellphone. Seeing he had no new messages, he let his arm fall and he closed his eyes. "I wonder where the field trip's destination is..." Takuto mumbled as he began to drift off into sleep. "I hope...It'll be fun" he yawned. Soon, he fell asleep with a lot on his mind. "Takuutoooo..." Takuto woke up away from his bed. When he looked around, he was in a place he didn't recognize. He was in a dark world. Everything was black. Takuto saw strange creatures flying in the sky. He heard hisses and growls all around him. Frightened, he looked around hastily. "Takutoooo" he heard the voice again. Turning his head, he saw a figure drifting towards him. "Who...Who are you?" he asked. "Come..." He began to walk towards the figure. Takuto was about 5 feet away when something crashed through the ground into the sky. Takuto fell onto his back and looked up at the thing. It looked down at him and growled, black saliva dripping from its mouth. Takuto turned and scrambled across the ground, standing up and sprinting away. In front of him, another creature bursted through the ground. Takuto was sent flying across the ground and he hit his back hard on a rock. "Tch...This can't be happening..." he cried. "Takutoooo" He saw the figure floating a few feet away from him, beckoning to him. To the right and left of the figure the two creatures stood as tall as flagpoles. "Enter the darkness..." Takuto saw the two creatures lunge at him and he screamed his loudest. Suddenly, the dark world melted away and he was sitting upright in his bed. He was breathing heavily, heartrate abnormal. "Just...A dream..." he sighed with relief and laid back down. "A dream..." he breathed, closed his eyes. But this time, he was afraid to go to sleep. Edited by Zodai, Jul 3 2012, 05:48 PM.

Chapter 5: "Kuto-chan!" Takuto woke up being violently shaken by his sister. "Kuto-chan! You're going to be late!" she yelled. Now losing the sleepiness in his body he sat straight up. "Onii-chan! You overslept!" she sighed. "When did I fall asleep..." Takuto mumbled. "What?" Sakairi asked. "Nothing..." Takuto replied. Climbing out of bed, he walked out of his room with Sakairi behind him. He was walking grogily down the hallway. but then Sakairi forcefully pushed him until he was in the bathroom. "You don't want to keep that girl waiting," she giggled. Rolling his eyes, he shut the door behind him and got ready. He took his bath and put on his clean uniform. Takuto brushed his teeth and didn't bother to brush his hair. Exiting the bathroom, he walked downstairs to see Sakairi staring out the window on the couch. Takuto sighed and sat down for breakfast. He saw that his mom had already left for work, and that Sakairi was done with breakfast. Takuto knew that his mom had to go to work early today, but he didn't know why Sakairi was up before him. Taking out his phone, he saw that it was an hour earlier than he usually wakes up. He sighed, and began eating his breakfast. He finished his breakfast and sat back in his chair. "I didn't oversleep. You woke me early, Sakairi," he said. "Ehh? I did? I didn't know!" Sakairi said with a slight grin on her face. Takuto rolled his eyes and got up from his chair. "I'm going" "Going where?" she asked. "Outside," he replied. Running upstairs, he grabbed his bag from his room. He bounded back downstairs and slipped on his shoes. "Bye," he said, looking over his shoulder. "Bye..." Sakairi said, standing at the kitchen doorway. Takuto opened the door, and sat on the step. He sat there thinking for a while. "Okasan should be here by now..." Rising, Takuto walked over to the gate and looked down the street. Sighing, he turned back towards his house when he didn't see her. "Takuto-kun?" Takuto turned around to see Okasan standing on the other side of the gate staring at him. "Wha! When did you get here?" he asked, surprised. "I just did," she replied. "That was fast..." Takuto mumbled. "Let's start heading to school. We don't want to miss the trip," Okasan told Takuto. Nodding, Takuto opened the gate and began walking to school with her. Along the way, they spotted Hanako walking down the street. "Hanako-chan!" Okasan called. "Eh? Oh, hi Oka! Takuto-kun!" Hanako smiled. "Hi," Takuto nodded. "Do you want to walk to school with us, Hanako-chan?" asked Okasan. "Mm, sure," Hanako replied. Smiling, she joined them on the walk to school. "Where is the field trip to, exactly?" Takuto asked. "Umm...the museum," Hanako said. "Okay," Nodding, Takuto reached the front doors of the school. They walked in with the rest of the students. "I have to get to my class," Hanako sighed. "See you later, Hanako-chan." Okasan smiled. Hanako waved her goodbyes and ran off towards her classroom. "Let's get to our class..." Okasan sighed. Together, Okasan and Takuto walked towards room 12. Takuto opened the door for her and she entered first. "Thank you..." Okasan blushed. He followed after her and walked to his seat. The teacher entered the classroom a few minutes later. He took role and began to explain the day's agenda. "As you all know we are going on a field trip today. You have to be in groups of two or more, and no wandering off on your own!" he boomed. The class nodded and mumbled in reply, not paying much attention. "We will be leaving in 5 minutes" he said, sitting down. Once he did the class went on with their conversations. "If I get Okasan to be my partner..." Takuto thought. He closed his eyes for a while, and soon it was time to leave. The teacher lined his class up and took them down to the busses. Takuto got on and sat down immediately. Okasan sat next to him. "Is Hanako getting on this bus?" Takuto asked. "I don't know..." Okasan sighed. The other students got on the bus, but there was no sign of Hanako. "Oh well, we'll just meet her at the museum." "Yeah," Okasan nodded. The bus began to move and it carried them to the other side of town where the museum was located. When the bus came to a stop, they filed out and began getting into groups. Looking around, Takuto spotted Hanako standing with Nami near the entrance of the museum. "Hanako and Nami are over there," he said, pointing to them. "Okay," Okasan stated. They walked over to them and said their greetings. "It looks like everyone's here...except for Shuya," Hanako said. "Where is he?" Okasan asked. "He texted me and said he was sick," she replied. "Oh. I hope he gets better" said Okasan quietly. Smiling, Takuto peeked inside the windows by the door. "Let's all be in a group together!" Hanako requested. "Ooh, that sound like fun!" Okasan said, giggling. An attendant from the museum came outside, announcing that the students could enter. Everyone began walking into the museum, splitting up to go into the seperate exhibits. Takuto and his group decided to walk around and see what the museum had to offer. "Hey, is there a map anywhere?" Hanako asked, looking around the area. "I'll go check at the service desk..." Okasan replied. She walked over to the lady behind the service desk, begining a small conversation with her. After a while, she handed Okasan a small, folded up piece of laminated paper labeled. 'Museum'. "I have one here," she said as she rejoined her friends. She unfolded the small pamphlet that contained the map of the museum and held it out in front of her so her friends could see it. "I think we should see the Legends of History exhibit..." Nami recommended. "Oooh, sounds awesome!" Hanako cheered, "Let's go there first!" Okasan let out a small giggle and she folded up the map and handed it to Hanako to put inside of her purse. The group went down the west wing of the museum until they reached a large arch that was labled 'Legends of History'. Takuto led them inside, taking in what he saw. "This exhibit contains all of the legends associated with this town..." Nami nodded. They walked past many of the presentations there. Soon, the group found a presentation that interested Takuto. "Guys, look at this one," Takuto said, staring at two objects sitting on two stone pillars. "Hmmm? What are those, Takuto-kun?" Okasan asked. "It says they are the Light and Shadow orbs," Hanako exclaimed, reading off of an inscription that sat on a nearby pedestal. Takuto reached out an arm to touch the Light orb, but Nami grabbed his arm. "You aren't supposed to touch the exhibits unless they say it's okay to," she said heavily. "Oh...Okay," Takuto sighed. There was something about those orbs gave him a tingling sensation down his spine. He saw that Okasan had a similar expression on her face. "Umm...Can we move on now?" she asked, shying away from the orbs. "Yeah, I'm getting kind of hungry," Hanako said, looking at a presentation about a ghost that wanders around the park at night. Okasan laughed at her remark, "You're always hungry, Hanako!" Takuto raised an eyebrow and grinned at the two girls. "Let's go," Takuto was looking towards the exit and Nami was standing there, leaning on the right side of the arch. "Nami looks impatient," he quietly stated. They exited the exhibit and strolled casually towards the eating area. Takuto and his friends soon reached the circular enclosure that housed the stands that sold food. Hanako and Okasan went ahead to pick a table while Takuto went into the nearest line to buy food. He checked his pockets in search for his wallet, but he found to his dismay that they were empty. "I left my wallet at home..." Takuto sighed and dragged himself to the table. "That was fast, Takuto-kun," Hanako muttered, looking over at him. "As it turns out I left me wallet at home," Takuto laughed half-heartedly. Hanako stared at Takuto with a shocked expression. She laid her head down on the table and sighed. "Takuto-kun, I'm going to go hungry for the rest of the day because of you," Okasan rose up from her seat, pushing the chair back a few feet in the process. "I'll pay for lunch," Okasan dug her hand into the left pocket on her jacket and pulled out a roll of dollar bills. She took half of the bills and stuffed the other half back into her pocket. "This will cover lunch for all of us," she said, indicating to the four of them arranged around the table. Nami gave her a slight nod and took out her cellphone, staring at it intently. "I'll have a bento..." she quietly spoke. Okasan nodded and looked at Hanako and Takuto. "What do you want?" she asked them. Hanako tilted her head to the side in thought. "I'll take whatever you're having, Oka," she nodded. "Hai...and Takuto-kun?" Okasan asked. "Cheeseburger," Takuto chirped. "Okay, I'll be right back guys!," Okasan cheerfully said as she merged with the other customers in line. Takuto drummed his fingers on the table, still unable to take his mind off of those two orbs. "There's something about them that just draws me towards them..." he thought. He drifted deep into thought for a while, and came back to reality to notice Hanako staring at him a foot away from his face. Takuto almost fell back out of his seat from Hanako being so close to him. "You had a far away look in your eyes Takuto-kun. What were you thinking about?" she asked with a gleam in her eye. "Ah-Nothing, nothing important," Takuto mumbled. "Nothing important?" Hanako had a slight grin on her face. Takuto broke eye contact with her and looked in the direction of Okasan. Hanako noticed his sudden nervousness and turned her gaze in the direction he was looking. "So Oka isn't anything important?" she giggled. Takuto's eyes grew wide and he shook his head. "She is very important! Because she's my friend and all..." Takuto felt himself flushing. "But I wasn't thinking about her! I was thinking about something else..." Hanako smiled at him and gave a puzzled expression. "Then what?" she asked. Takuto sighed and shook his head. "It's nothing, don't worry about it," Hanako shrugged and turned her head to see Okasan heading back to the table with the food. Okasan walked up to the table smiling and she handed everyone what they ordered and sat down next to Takuto to eat. "Mmmm, so where are we going next?" Hanako asked, taking a sip of her drink. "I don't know," Okasan replied. "Let me see the map." Hanako went into her small purse and pulled out the now slightly rinkled map. She handed the map to Okasan, and Okasan smoothed it out on the table in front of her. "Let's see the one about trains..." Nami said in a hushed voice. "Trains are nice," Okasan nodded. Takuto wasn't paying much attention to the conversation, he had a lot on his mind. "I have to go to the bathroom," he said rising from his seat. "Okay, if we aren't here come towards the trains exhibit," Hanako stated, not taking her eyes off of the map. Takuto walked in the direction of the bathroom but then he took a sharp right turn. He ran towards the Legends of History exhibit and entered. He noticed no one else was around. "Is it closed?" he whispered to himself. Putting the thought aside he again went to the area that housed the two orbs. As he drew closer he felt that tingling sensation down his spine. Placing his hands on the barrier of velvet rope he longed to touch the orbs to see what would happen. He looked around to check if anyone was watching him, then he slowly reached for the black orb. His fingers brushed across it and he felt a shock enter his system. He saw a glimpse of something and the sound of a girl giggling. This caused him to step back in recoil. "Wh-what just happened?" he asked shakily. He looked down at the orb and he saw that it was slightly glowing. "Woah..." he said quietly. The surface of the orb glowed a deeper black than the orb itself. Takuto still felt the tingling sensation but it was much stronger now. "I...I think I should get back to the others now," Takuto muttered to himself. He ran out of the exhibit and towards the bathroom. As soon as he turned the corner he saw Nami, waiting for him. "Where were you?" she asked, pushing herself off of the wall. "I forgot something back at the Legends exhibit," Takuto mumbled, and quickly pulled out his cellphone. "My phone." "I see..." Nami quietly whispered under her breath. "Okasan and Hanako are already at the train exhibit and waiting. We should go," she nodded. Takuto put his phone back in his pocket and began walking to the train exhibit. Nami followed right behind him quietly. She had a slight smile on her face as they walked. Chapter 6: Soon, Takuto and Nami caught up with Hanako and Okasan. "That took a while, Takuto-kun," Hanako said, looking into his eyes, "Err...I left my cellphone at the Legends of History exhibit," he quickly replied. Hanako shrugged and turned to Okasan. "Let's go," The group walked into the exhibit and began looking around. There were life size models of trains and a small train set in the center of the large room that was an exact replica of their town. "Amazing!" Hanako said as she stepped up to it. "I can see my house from here!" Her eyes sparkled. Okasan and Takuto laughed. Takuto heard the sound of another laugh in his ears and immediately turned around, but he saw no one there. "Takuto-kun?" Okasan asked, looking up at him slightly. "Is something wrong?" Takuto shook his head. "No," he stated. Nami poked Takuto in the back with her finger. "Hey, what time is it?" she asked. He pulled out his phone and checked the time. Takuto's eyes grew wide and he put his phone away. "Guys it's almost time for the buses tp leave!" he rushed. "Wow time flies," Hanako sighed. "Come on." She led them out of the exhibit and stopped in the hallway. "Wait, I'm not that good with directions," she said, reaching inside her purse. Her eyes grew wide and she turned toward her friends. "Okasan, where's the map?!" she asked. "Ummm...I think I left it at the table," Okasan replied. Hanako stared at Okasan and sighed. "Then we're lost," Hanako cried. "I'll go see if there is another map somewhere," Takuto recommended. "Ooh no, you are staying here. You might get lost on your way," Hanako growled. Takuto backed away a little. "Fine," he stated firmly. Okasan looked around and spotted a museum attendant. "I'll ask for directions," she nodded. Okasan walked over to the attendant and asked how to get back to the front. He showed her the way out, and Okasan returned to her friends. "He said we go straight from here, take a right, go past the Prehistoric exhibit, take a left, and continue down the hallway until we reach the large opening chamber where the doors are," she smiled. "Alright let's go before the buses leave us here," Hanako nodded, turning towards the direction indicated. The group began running and the passed the Prehistoric exhibit. "Come on, faster!" Hanako breathed, running faster. They rounded the corner and saw the buses were about to leave. Takuto ran as hard as he could and burst through the front doors, jumping the steps and landing on the sidewalk below. Someone on the buses must have noticed him because the doors opened to let them on. Everyone was breathing heavily by the time they all reached the buses. "That...was close," Hanako said panting, "Yeah..." Okasan nodded. "See you later, Hanako and Nami." "Bye..." Hanako said, standing up straight and slowly heading for her bus. Takuto helped Okasan onto the bus and they sat down together. "That was a close call," Okasan whispered. "It was," Takuto agreed. The bus lurched forward, and the trip back to the school began. When Takuto turned his head, he thought he saw a small figure sitting next to him. When he looked again nothing was there. "What the..." He rubbed his eyes and laid back. "Maybe I'm just tired..." he mumbled. He began to drift into a light sleep, and soon the bus reached the school. The students got off and went directly to their classrooms. Everyone seemed tired out from the trip. Okasan and Takuto slowly made their way back to their room and they sat down at their desks exhausted. "I'm going straight to sleep when I get home," Takuto sighed, "I still have chores to do," Okasan said. "You're lucky, Takuto-kun." Takuto looked at Okasan with a shocked expression. "It's not fun just lying around all day really," he chuckled, "I wish I had chores to do at home." "Chores aren't all that great either," Okasan giggled. "Who knows," Takuto shrugged. "Do you want me to walk you home today?" "Mm, sure" Okasan replied. "Okay," he nodded. The teacher dismissed the class a few minutes later, and Takuto and Okasan began their usual walk home. They kept up their conversation about the good and bad reasons about chores, and they soon arrived at Okasan's house. "I'll see you tomorrow, Takuto-kun..." she smiled. Takuto nodded in reply and smiled back. "Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow too," Okasan waved goodbye and ran to the front door and opened it, entering her house and closing the door again. Takuto sighed and walked back down the street to his house. He opened the gate and locked it behind him as he groggily walked to the front door. Takuto opened the door, and kicked off his shoes at the wall. He looked up and saw a girl standing at the kitchen doorway. "Uhhh....Who are you?" he asked. The girl stood up straight and her face became red. "Oh, ummm...My name is Mishima Kotsujen," she bowed. "Are you one of Sakairi's friends?" Takuto asked. "Y-Yes..." she replied. Takuto nodded and looked past her. "Where is she?" he asked. "Bathroom..." Mishima replied. "Ah..." Takuto smiled. Looking up, he saw Sakairi appear at the top of the stairs. "Onii-chan!" she screamed. She ran down the stairs and jumped on him, hugging him tightly. Mishima stared at her and stepped back a little. Sakairi looked over at Mishima, going pale. "Oh, ummm..." she started. Takuto smiled and patted her head. "Hello, Sakairi" he grinned. Sakairi smiled and then she returned her gaze back to Mishima. "We should get back to our homework now..." she muttered. Mishima smiled and nodded at her. "I'm going to take a nap," Takuto yawned. He walked upstairs into his room and laid down on his bed. Takuto began to drift off into sleep, but then he felt a cold presence in his room. "Takuto..." Takuto sat straight up in his bed and looked around the room. "Wha...Who's there?!" he asked quietly. "I'm right here..." Takuto looked in front of him and he saw a small figure before him. She stood at two feet tall, her large, black, unblinking eyes looking up at him. "I am Teiroku," the figure sighed. "H-How did you get in here?!" he said, creeping back against the wall. The girl blinked and began to levitate. "I am your Shadow Guardian," she nodded. "You awakened me from the orb..." Takuto looked at her, eyes filled with confusion. "That's why I heard giggling?" he whispered. The girl slowly nodded and floated up to look at him eye to eye. Takuto felt a bit uncomfortable with the small distance between him. The two upward ponytails on her head twitched and she tilted her head to the side. "Kuroyami..." she muttered. "W-What?" Takuto asked uncomfortably. "Darkness child..." she nodded a bit and placed her small arms on top of his head. "Well, I'll be sticking with you now," she sighed. "K-Konran..." Takuto muttered. Teiroku sighed and ran her fingers through Takuto's hair. "I thought you would be," She floated onto his bed and sat down. "You will learn in time..." Takuto tried pinching himself to prove he was in a dream, but it only lead to a pain being shot through his nerves. "Sorry...This is just all...too much to take in. I mean, you just appeared in my room saying you are my guardian-" "Shadow Guardian," Teiroku corrected. "Shadow Guardian...and I just met you," Takuto finished. The small girl sighed and began tracing her finger along the design of his sheets. "Like I said, you will lean in time...For now, I will be following you around," she sighed. "Thats stalking..." Takuto countered. "It's what I am supposed to do, and I don't care if you like it or not!" Teiroku floated over to him with an annoyed expression on her face. Takuto backed off and put his hands in his pockets. "Whatever...Just don't draw attention at my school," Teiroku giggled and sat on his head. "I'm invisible to everyone else," Takuto slightly smiled and turned towards the window. "Heh...That's good. It would freak people out if they saw a floating two foot tall girl following me around," Teiroku rolled her eyes and looked down at him. "Go to sleep. I have introduced myself already..." she commanded, tapping his forehead. Takuto blinked and nodded slightly. "Alright...Good night," he yawned. Takuto crawled back into his bed and fell asleep. "Have dreams of the Shadows...Kuroyami," Teiroku giggled and she floated down to him. "They are your destiny..." She floated up towards the ceiling and disappeared. Takuto had a lot to think about. Chapter 7: Takuto was stirred by a loud crack of thunder. He rolled out of his bed and onto the floor out of shock. His head swam from his drowsiness but he rose and pulled back the curtains. A heavy sheet of rain poured down onto the streets bellow. It was going to be a hard walk to school this morning for Takuto. "Rain?" Takuto looked to his left and saw the pale figure of Teiroku floating next to him. He nodded tiredly and stretched. It was time to get ready for school. "Your uniform is waiting for you on the sink," Teiroku yawned. Takuto glanced at her and gave a small nod before heading towards the bathroom in the hallway. He opened the door and stepped inside quietly. The sudden change of light hurt his eyes a little but they adjusted soon. He stretched and looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was a mess but he didn't care much. Takuto took a short shower and got ready for school. Teiroku was waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs. "Sheesh, you're slow in the mornings," she yawned. Takuto smiled and walked down the stairs to her. He noticed Teiroku was wearing his school's uniform, only much smaller. "What are you wearing that for?" he asked. Teiroku glanced into the kitchen where Sakairi was sitting. "Wait...I'll tell you later. We have to talk through telepathy. People will think you are talking to yourself," she sighed. "Uhh...okay...How are we supposed to do that exactly?" he asked. Teiroku floated closer to him. Her right eye began to glow red as she got closer. Takuto looked into her eye quietly. "W-Why is your eye glowing?" Takuto began to backaway slowly. "Just shut up and look into it..." she growled. Takuto choked down his fear and looked directly into her eye. "Good..." she brought up the index finger of her right hand and touched it to hit forehead. There was a bright flash inside of Takuto's head and he began to feel dizzy. "What just happened..." Takuto looked at Teiroku and saw that she had a big grin across her face. "You got it" Takuto smiled back and glanced over his shoulder at the kitchen. "I'm going to eat breakfast now" Teiroku nodded and followed him as he walked into the kitchen. "Good morning Onii-chan," Sakairi blinked. "Good morning," Takuto replied. He sat down at the table and Sakairi pushed a covered plate of food over to him. "Your breakfast," she smiled. Takuto nodded his head and removed the cover from the plate. His breakfast consisted of 2 pancakes, eggs, and bacon. He quickly ate his breakfast and put the plate in the sink. "School" Takuto looked in Teiroku's direction and gave her a slight nod. He exited the kitchen and slipped on his shoes by the front door. Edited by Zodai, Jul 6 2012, 10:51 PM.
