PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы INQUISITION SYNDICATE / Инквизиция Синдикат (Inkvizitsiya Sindikat) ![]() The Syndicate flag is a monogram of the Администрация Инквизиция Правительство Hадзору (AИПH) seal on red background. The flag is traditionally printed on tapestry and hung from the wall rather than from a flagpole. TYPE: Militarised Totalitarian Police State SIZE: Muti-Systemic (Large Cluster) TECH LEVEL: Human/Above Average (Type 6/Тип 6) CAPITAL: Крепость, Precinct 00, Sector 01, Центральный Bпадение (according to warfare propaganda metadata) LANGUAGE/CULTURE: Syndication Russian (Post-Exodus) LOCATION: Seagull Nebulae POLICY: Isolationism; Totalitarianism; Communism; Utilitarianism LAW LEVEL: All weapons restricted besides approved (Type 1/Тип 1) STABILITY: Iron Fist DESCRIPTION: The Inquisition Syndicate began on Earth as an isolated soviet research facility called Uchastkovaya № 15, or Precinct #15. With the growing threat of nuclear war, Uchastkovaya 15 began to reinforce its facility, constructing large walls and housing units for its employees, as ell as establishing a local lawkeeping force known as the Inquisition. Other research facilities, fearing for their safety, began to adopt similar contingencies under the guidance and instruction of Uchastkovaya 15, receiving soldiers from the Inquisition to back their defences and maintain the peace. The group of facilities maintained by the Inquisition came to be known as the Inkvizitsiya Sindikat, or Inquisition Syndicate. As the nations of Earth began to brutally slaughter each other in what the Syndicate was sure to be mutually-assured destruction, they hurriedly made preparations to depart from the dying world. Countless years later, they found themselves as a series of colonies on a single dusty world on the outskirts of the series of grudgingly-cooperative worlds descendant from the Soviet Union, others who had taken to the stars. Here, the Syndicate maintained a policy of isolationism, avoiding the menacing gaze of the other human worlds and devoting their time to advanced research- quantum tunnelling, antimatter, negative energy, genetics, and mechanical engineering. When the Tauvi struck the nearby worlds, the Inquisition Syndicate gathered up its most advanced research onto their most advanced ships and fled, leaving slower vessels to carry non-important civilians and excess supplies. These ships fled to unnoticed worlds with miserable climates, setting up a small empire and further reinforcing its military government to ensure security. Ships were sent out to recover lifeboats for both salvage and additional personnel to make up for the sizeable loss in the public workforce. Over the years, the Syndicate vehemently fought off scavengers and pirates looking for materials to rebuild their empire. Any force that dared recover Syndicate technology, which was carefully collected and inventoried at crash sites and derelicts, was met with the unending wrath of the Inquisition military. The settlement would be razed, being broken down and taken for supplies, any survivors being taken to be added as citizens in the Syndicate's slowly-growing empire. ![]() The Inquisition Syndicate holds a collection of pre-Tauvi technology which they are currently unable to operate; all the technology taken when they fled, but much of the manuals and research notes and operation guides forgotten or lost. Their AI cores were also not portable, and were left behind as well, resulting in the devices powering their vast mechanised military to be lost. To compensate, the Syndicate has forsaken much of its computer and robotics research and has taken to building exo-suits and vehicles because in the end human soldiers are reliable and are less costly to replace. TRAVELLER ADVISORY: The Interstellar Travel Safety Board strongly advises avoiding Syndicate space at this time. Due to policies such as isolationism and the higher level of technology compared to the Galactic Average, the Syndicate will be able to inflict significant damage beyond most travellers' ability to repair or understand. They will fire without warning at trespassers for any reason, and any prisoners taken are never returned. As well, the Syndicate is currently involved with a war with another unknown species, perhaps the first nonhuman race discovered since the days of the Soviet Insterstellar Federation, and is losing territory. Caution is advised. Current advisory state is at Level 1 -- Maximum Possible Danger [SUBJECT TO EXPANSION AND MODIFICATION] |

PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы ORION UNITARY COLLECTIVE / Орион унитарное коллективной (Orion Unitarnoye Kollektivnoy) ![]() The Collective's flag is simple and symmetrical; representing the ideal of perfection and technological superiority over other races and factions. TYPE: Technocratic Absolutist Collective SIZE: Multi-Systemic (Large/Medium Cluster) TECH LEVEL: Human/High (Type 7/Тип 7) CAPITAL: ORION-1A Station LANGUAGE/CULTURE: Orionist Russian (Post-Exodus) LOCATION: Orion Cluster/Constellation - [REDACTED] POLICY: Progressionism, Pragmatism, Perfectionism, Absolutism LAW LEVEL: Some weapons allowed on Permit (Type 2/Тип 2) STABILITY: Absolute DESCRIPTION: The Orion Unitary Collective is a small empire of near-humanoids situated precariously close to the edge of The Graveyard; the 1,000-lightyear-expanse centered around Earth filled only with dust and ash. The remnants of the only few research and technological bases far enough hidden to escape the Tauvi's wrath, the Collective came into being as part of a much larger Sector-wide government under the SIF- The fabled 'Orion Sotsialisticheskaya Federativnaya Respublika', or 'OSFR'. As one of the larger, more Colonial Republics at the time, the OSFR served much purpose as a backlog for unwanted technology, criminals, wasted resources, and research bases where not many others would find them. Settlements were scattered few and far between, and the area now known as the Orion Cluster was a smaller, backwater frontier for whoever dared to brave the worlds outside of the core of the SIF's domain. However, the land occupied by the OSFR never came into it's own until later on. Several internal splits, as well as rumors of possible rebellion across the SIF and the knowledge of the Shard's discovery, soon drove the region into a bloody civil chaos. The republic fractured as many vied for control, and the slowly-dying provisional government tried in vain to suppress any further insurrection. Various generals in charge of the Republic's protection fractured, becoming warlords and quickly spawning this Region's dangerous reputation for privateering and piracy. The neighboring factions, even long afterwords, largely ignored the soon-to-be faction, and any who tried to expand into it's territory were swiftly met with strife and conflict. Finally, as the Tauvi came, few could escape, as the majority of the Orion Cluster's interior worlds were shattered and contaminated by Tauvi, with refugees flooding outwards and survivors being exterminated with impunity by any remaining Tauvi still in the area. Seeing the writing on the wall, the remaining military bases and Research teams across most of the OFSR federated and silently got into contact, calling themselves 'The Collective' after their collective desire for knowledge and survival, most locking themselves in Cryo-Chambers for the first wave of Colony ships still travelling while the rest remained to eek out an existence preserving the archives of the old world. These very Scientists, holed up and forgotten by the Soviet Interstellar Federation protecting them, began to do work into a crazed idea: What if Humanity could be improved? Perfected beyond itself into a more perfect race of humanoids? Initial results were promising; and the Collective's hive mind intelligence project, nicknamed 'THE OVERMIND', was far exceeding expectations. As well, with enough time, they knew the Tauvi would mostly leave- Taking it upon themselves to preserve and restore any remnant of the old world while continuing their quest of ultimate human progress. Slowly, as the others woke up and the first colonists arrived, they had witnessed something entirely new- The birth of a new near-human species: The Orionians. ![]() The Orion Unitary Collective has (most likely) the largest array of pre-Tauvi technology known or archived, and frequent (But unsuccessful) missions are flown into the Graveyard Worlds to try and retain Tauvi technology. Although there is still several pieces missing- Such as The Shard, for one- the Collective maintains it's borders with a watchful eye, extrapolating and testing all kinds of experiments and sharing knowledge through their own internal mental Network created by THE OVERMIND, watching and documenting all. Mysterious hovering probe ships and advanced 'walker'-like beings are spotted on many border-worlds; and although the Collective is quiet and isolationist, preferring to focus on their research, they have harsh racism towards any who do not contain evolved Implants (As they do), and brutally attack any vessel or world housing remnants of pre-Tauvi technology for their study. TRAVELLER ADVISORY: The Interstellar Travel Safety Board strongly advises to excersize caution on any worlds or systems controlled (In full or in part) by the Orion Unitary Collective. Non-Orion-Race travelers are likely to be subjected to kidnapping, detainment, and prolonged periods of forced experimentation; and any and all knowledge of Technology outside their own will be treated as a hostile action, with said knowledge being forcibly taken if necessary. Any interaction with resisting forces or any suspection of conspiring against the Collective almost always amounts in death or injury; and several Orionian border-worlds, although open, are in a state of current civil disturbance. It is paramount that all travelers visiting worlds controlled by the Orion Unitary Collective visit for as short a time as is possible and interact with the local Government or Faction as few times is as necessary. Current advisory state is at Level 2 -- High Possible Danger [SUBJECT TO EXPANSION AND MODIFICATION] Edited by Clockwork Carcinogenicity, Sunday, 16. November 2014, 20:53.

PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы FREE SYSTEMS ALLIANCE / Бесплатный Альянс Систем (Besplatnyy Al'yans Sistem) ![]() The Flag of the Free Systems is usually detailed as such; although several variants between different individual systems are also quite common. TYPE: Anarchistic Coalition State SIZE: Multi-Systemic (Small Cluster) TECH LEVEL: Human/Average (Type-5/Тип 5) (Some areas Human/Below Average) CAPITAL: Canaan LANGUAGE/CULTURE: Orionist Ukrainian/Belorussian Mixed (Post-Exodus) LOCATION: Outer Orion Cluster - (More rimward, on the edge of the O.U.C.'s Territory) POLICY: Anarchism, Independence, Self-Sufficiency, Federalism LAW LEVEL: All weapons except Assault weapons allowed if holstered/unloaded (Type 5/Тип 5) STABILITY: Low/Rebellious DESCRIPTION: The Free Systems Alliance is less so a unified faction or 'State' then a loose coalition of infighting planetary powers, bound together by promises of mutual protection and profit in exchange for having to cooperate (Relatively) with the rest of the member worlds in the Alliance. Squabbles are infrequent and bloody, and many worlds do not directly cooperate with one-another; local government and military forces taking precedence and ingraining a sense of Anarchy and disunity in Alliance Space. Traditionally a hub for pirates and brigands, the Alliance has managed to stay out of the ire of larger factions both by technological normalcy and careful diplomatic maneuvering; holding together the conflicting interests of the Alliance's worlds in a dangerous game of interstellar chess. The Alliance itself is a result of outside influence- An area of space, at the time being within the bounds of the Orion Socialist Federative Republic, or OSFR, within the Soviet Interstellar Union. The OSFR had a long history of being reckless and less-patrolled; with many colony ships bound from central Soviet-controlled space to the Orion Frontier, expanding for riches and resources while piracy was frequent. Although habitable, few lived in the area; and rumors of riches and relics of the past or other alien species- Perhaps even knowledge of the Shard itself- led many to colonise otherwise inhospitable worlds, desolate rocks orbiting dead stars in a bid to find the ultimate prize or simply to find a home to live in. As the Shard was discovered, changing hands many times, and the OFSR began to fracture, several local Warlords fled the primary conflict in the area that was soon to be the Orion Unitary Collective in favor of carving up their own territory; claiming local worlds and systems on the edge of the Orion Cluster as the Collective made it's rise to power. Many inhabitants, in fact, are Refugees and Colonists; and even the Alliance's de-facto capital, the planet Canaan, was founded by several Ark Ships falling into a rogue gravity well. However, with major factions around, and the clear threat of a race such as the Tauvi destroying most of previously-known space, these very Warlords forged a loose military pact- promising riches as long as each was left to self-govern. Since then, several Revolutions have broken out, and the area remains a hive of scum and betrayal; many larger factions seeking the ire of those who flee to Free Systems space but not willing to risk the innumerable knives behind their backs as they threaten their interests. With the relative technological backwardness compared to the other major Local faction, the Collective, Free Systems Space is primarily left alone; each local lord pursuing their own interests and power while maintaining a single, collective goal: Survival from the larger and smaller factions all inching in their territory. As well, numerous other smaller planets- remnants of the OFSR or other colonists escaping from the Tauvi- have populated a host of other planets nearby; with infighting frequent between the various minor System-wide or Dual-System factions in the area. ![]() The Free Systems Alliance has had to deal with whatever remnants of technology could be captured or extrapolated after the destruction of known Humanity at the hands of the Tauvi; mostly being confined to Slow Warp for travel and lesser-advanced technological systems (Although it varies world by world). Although it seems to have some remnant of the Democratic ideal, the Free Systems are a loose coalition of Dictatorships; a sort of interstellar oligarchy that survives on the basis that all can expand when all are ensured survival- And although they certainly don't desire such lofty goals as other factions, such as Expansion, they are a significant part of space in the area: A proverbial 'Underdog' in between a rock and a hard place. TRAVELLER ADVISORY: The Interstellar Travel Safety Board strongly advises caution on any worlds within or near to Free Systems space; as crime is more common then in other locales and there has been numerous civil disturbances reported with |

PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы UNITED TRIDENT NEBULA / 미국 트라이던트 성운 (Migug Teulaideonteu Seong-Un) ![]() The flag of the Trident Nebula is universal and used on all planets, usually on electronic billboards and holo-displays; with cloth flags only being used on small outposts or mining worlds. TYPE: Capitalist Corpocratic Semi-Democracy SIZE: Multi-Systemic (Small Cluster) TECH LEVEL: Human/Average (Type-5/Тип 5) (Trident's Net itself is Human/Above Average) CAPITAL: Trident’s Net LANGUAGE/CULTURE: American English, Korean (rare) LOCATION: Trident Cluster POLICY: Capitalism, Consumerism, Protectionism, Meritocracy LAW LEVEL: Pistols and handheld arms allowed, crimes punished severely (Type 2/Тип 2) DESCRIPTION: The Trident Nebula is a collection of systems controlled by the Universal President, who operates out of Trident’s Net, the capital planet. Each planet within the cluster is given a governor, who can present laws for his planet to the Universal President for approval. The approval, if it occurs, is then reviewed by a council of corporations and other Conglomerates (Or 'Cartels') to determine if it is beneficial. Security is maintained by a Universal Security Force, which takes order from Trident’s Net. This is purposefully done in place of a local police force, so that no one ever feels disconnected from the capital. Corporations are always supported by the government, but are encouraged to hire contractors, so that the Universal Security Force can focus on keeping the cities free of crimes. Most crime enforcement goes into stopping stealing, piracy, and terrorism. The planets themselves are located in a small and thin nebula, and orbit around mostly yellow stars, with the exception being a single system, orbiting a blue O-Class star- Devon's Star, the first-discovered in the Cluster when one of the larger of the three Colony ships fell into Trident's Net's Gravity well. The Trident Nebula was created originally from Colonists- The last-ditch effort of the remaining Capitalist Nations in their final hour; launching a desperate plan in sleeper ships towards some part of space. They exist as the last vestige of the 'Western World', carrying all of the last ideas of Capitalism and 'old' Democracy into the void with them, before crashing on the planets soon to be known as the Trident Cluster. Due to their pre-existing wealth, and skills in swaying locals of the planets they went to, it was relatively easy for their influence to expand to the entire nebula they now control. Unlike other factions and governments, fleet ships rarely travel far from their zone of control, but if they do it is normally to escort important politicians and CEOs. There are several small military bases on moons orbiting mineral rich and primitive planets, and there are normally one or two fleet ships stationed at these to transport harvested materials back to the Nebula. Other than these influences, the Trident Nebula stays contained to itself, not wanting to risk the pristine lifestyle it’s people have. Few ships or troops from either ever leave the Nebula; preferring it's safety rather then the danger of the various Communists, Technocrats, and Warlords ruling the space outside of the Nebula's thin area. The People in the Trident Nebula have remained isolated from the rest of 'Traditional' Society for generations upon generations, living and adapting to the conditions of the Nebula for over two thousand years. They were isolated from the Tauvi, having lived far outside even the SIF's outer colonial areas, and few know of the Trident Nebula's settlement or survival. Nevertheless, they have managed to thrive as an isolated people, and their worlds are amongst some of the most densely populated in all of known Space. However, the growing threat of depleting resources is driving many to fear and worry- Contact with the outside may become a distinct possibility. The Nebula's culture is, as well, quite different from most others- Using Asian and Latin alphabets compared to the standard Cryllic-Russian; and encouraging things such as extreme Hedonism and Capitalism to further it's aims. Few pirates operate out of Trident-controlled Space; but the various Syndicates, Cartels, and Corporations frequently have minor 'Merchant Wars' over trade disputes to increase profits in the ever-changing political and economic atmosphere of the Nebula's habitated worlds. ![]() The culture of the Trident Nebula is focused on advertising, but civilian culture varies greatly from most other factions. The clothing popular amongst civilians ranges from polo shirts and dress pants, to neon clothing and skinny jeans. Hedonism is promoted by the government, and a majority of civilians are at least upper middle class, with those that aren't often living beyond their means with credit cards and loans. Music, which is part of a large music industry, is most often hard rock or hard techno, with the intense rhythm of the songs further fueling the never ending buying cycle of the populace. All cities are kept in a state of relative cleanliness, at least to the point that there are few slums, if any. TRAVELLER ADVISORY: The Interstellar Travel Safety Board strongly advises removing contraband and heavy weapons from your ships before attempting entry into any of the planets within the Trident Nebula, including any possible banned or restricted goods, as possession of such items is a capital offence. Due to a recent terrorist attack on one of the planets in the outskirts of the nebula, any suspected terrorists will be subject to sentences ranging from the death penalty to life in prison, and remaining out of suspicion is heavily advised. Torture may also be used if you are suspected of plotting anything against the government or do not have knowledge of interior culture (Outsider). Current advisory state is at Level 5 -- Below Average Possible Danger. |

PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы TELESSI AUTONOMY / Тэлэссй автономия [EDIT - ADD SOME SHIT HERE] DESCRIPTION: Rather then one single faction, the Telessi Autonomy are a multitude of scores of seperate Hives, all of the same race, united in a loose coalition of might-means-right. The Telessi are an insectoid warrior race, carving out their section of the galaxy with genetic manipulation of their own species and through swift subjugation, eliminating any existing colonists and claiming the world for themselves, burrowing deep underground across the Planet's crust to form vast, separated hive-structures. ![]() (Pictured: At first, it appears like a standard ship; but on the inside, past the grown and bio-forged alloys on the outside, the interior is entirely living and regenerative; host to thousands of clone bays and capable of combat far more then most other ships of it's size.) |

PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы THE YELLOW FLEET / Желтый флот ![]() TYPE: Semi-Theocratic Anarchistic Meritocracy SIZE: Nomadic, Mutli-Systemic (Large Fleet) TECH LEVEL: Human/Below-Average CAPITAL: Dawn (Old SIF-Era station refurbished with experimental FTL Drives, allowing it to move) LANGUAGE/CULTURE: Old Russian, Fleet Russian (Common), Orionist Russian (Post-Exodus) LOCATION: Variable; usually in or near the Outer Orion Cluster (Around the location of the Free Systems) POLICY: Freedom, Piracy, Anarchy, Meritocracy, Capitalism, Control, Defensive LAW LEVEL: All weapons allowed, Crimes punished by Captain's Discresion STABILITY: Moderate DESCRIPTION: There were more then simply the Reds to escape earth. Not all were satisfied with rule in the great Interstellar Federation. A few, a band of free-thinkers, capitalists, fascists, and all other manner of people banded together, seizing what they could and banding into a single force to prevent destruction. They are, in a sense, pilgrims; the survivors of an SIF secret project known as Zheltyy Rassvet, or Yellow Dawn; what many theorize to be the beginnings of a primitive Dyson construct. However, by the time it began, the SIF was already in decline over The Shard, and it's records- and history- were lost. The few survivors that escaped were lost beyond it's location; drifting somewhere as a derelict around a Dwarf star, and took to piracy to feed the children and pay the bills. Soon, more joined on, some religious, worshipping the Dawn as a holy site and seeking the return of the 'Yellow Prophet' aboard his great sphere of light; others, simply there for protection. They are no friends of the Syndicate, and within, contain many former rebels of many of the major factions in and near the Orion Cluster. They travel through Free Space, the area between the major factions, in territories controlled by the likes of the Free Systems and other, smaller governments, if you could call them that. They are rarely left alone; and many of the members of the Yellow Fleet are competent shipmen, pirates and soldiers, who work to defend either themselves or everyone else. However, they span more then the Orion Cluster. Rumors speak that several arms of the Yellow Fleet have set up camp within the Graveyard zone; the 500+ Lightyear-wide expanse of dead stars and shattered planets left by those that destroyed humanity. Perhaps on asteroids, or the dry remnants of what used to be, perhaps, a major world. However, it is unknown. Many avoid the Yellow Fleet, seeing them- and rightfully so- as brigands and, as some rumors persist, slavers. However, again, it is unknown fully, unless one has been to the Yellow Fleet, where larger ships are like crowded slums of cities, and the largest, Dawn, is like a shining beacon, large enough to dock much of the fleet within it's caverns. |

PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы THE AUTARCHY - Aвтаркия ![]() TYPE: Charismatic Autocracy SIZE: Multi-Systemic (Small Group) TECH LEVEL: Human/Average (Type-5/Тип 5) CAPITAL: TTC-14401-C3 (Rock Moon); Eden One (Actual) LANGUAGE/CULTURE: Orionist Russian/Asian + Autarch Russian/Asian (Separate) LOCATION: Trapezium Cluster, within the Orion Nebula (Near to the Orionians) POLICY: Autocracy, Control, Order, Power, Centralized Leadership LAW LEVEL: No weapons allowed, No items allowed without permit, All landings must be conducted with licence or affiliation STABILITY: Moderate-High DESCRIPTION: A breakaway faction of the Free Systems, the Autarchy was founded by the dictator Xi Yilin, a charismatic man who made his way out of Governorship via heavy genetic modification of himself and his subjects. Ruling with an iron fist, he soon seized control of his capital, TTC-14401-C3, in a short but bloody civil war with a fleet of ships he convinced to join him in a rebellion against the Governors now known as the Systems War; which left both himself and many other factions indipendent. He personally owns several systems in the outer regions of the Trapezium Cluster, an area of space known for it's tight cluster of stars and stellar dust; as well as it's important location as the closest faction to one of the old Orion capital worlds, Eden (Which now lies deep within Orionian territory). Most of the Government is a cult of military personality, which redistributes wealth based on favor with the Autarch (Namely, Xi and his successors); as well as a small group of orbiters marketing themselves as the Polis, attempting to gain favor with the Autarch. All media, government departments, and industry are run or contracted directly through the Autarch's office; and his singular pen can control anything within it's power. What few ships the Autarchy has is made up for by their brutality. The Autarchy is known as the antithesis of the Free Systems, despite being within their general space; and is heavily biased towards the repression of anyone that the Autarch or his military deem as unfit for the ruling class. Most of the population, especially of Eden One, which serves as the largest starport-city of it's kind, are labourers; and the Autarchy is an active participant in the salvaging and trade of old technology from within the Graveyard Zone. As well, the Autarchy is a known hub of criminal activity, more-so then the Free Systems, and the Autarch is known to use many underground Pirate or Smuggler's guilds as de-facto military personnel, provided that they only conduct operations primarily outside of Autarchy space- A rule which is frequently broken. Many of the Autarchy's worlds, what few they have, are rocks and moons, and thus the Autarchy relies primarily on pressurized or underground constructs or orbital Stations; and has a significant Mining and Refining industry for a wealth of natural resources. The Autarchy, unlike most factions, also allows Slavery, and a significant smuggling trade occurs between Free Systems and Autarch space. The Autarchy and the Free Systems are still technically in a state of conflict. However, due to the nature of the politics of both, direct confrontation is rare, at best. ![]() Above: A picture of Eden One, against the backdrop of the TTC-14401 Dust Cloud. |

PLANETARY FACTION ARCHIVES -\-\/-/- Планетарные Фракция Архивы THE COLUMBAEAN UNION - Голуби союз ![]() TYPE: Socialist Bureaucratic Timocracy SIZE: Multi-Systemic (Small Group) TECH LEVEL: Human/Average (Type-5/Тип 5) CAPITAL: Mu Columbae II LANGUAGE/CULTURE: Orionist Russian/Ukrainian/Belorussian, Syndicate Russian LOCATION: Orion Nebula, on the approach to the Inquisition Syndicate POLICY: Industry, Production, Social Welfare, Equality, Bureaucracy, LAW LEVEL: Weapons permitted only to Military, Warrants and Arrests issued by violations of a Code of Social Conduct STABILITY: High DESCRIPTION: A Federation of seven indipendent systems based around the star Mu Columbae, the Union seceded along with the Autarchy during the Systems War. Unlike the latter, however, the Union is based around principles derived from a crashed colony ship in Mu Columbae's only habitable planet, Columbae II. During the fall of the SIF, and the resulting wave of refugees to the Outer Colonies several hundred years later, one of the first ship to crash was Mu Columbae's ship- However, unbeknownst to the colonists, the gravitic force of the star itself, over fourteen times that of Sol, warped the records onboard; destroying all but fragments. The Union itself prides itself on a strict code of laws known as the 'Social Codex', and Union society is based almost entirely around industrial production; with profession often being determined from birth based on predicted attributes. It was initially founded by a former Governor, but the Union's government has since devolved into a collection of local Worker's Communes, Trade organizations, and Government-run corporations. Most of the values of the Union are what may now be considered 'Socialist', and the Union prides itself heavily on both it's production overall and it's emphasis on streamlined careers. As well, the Union does hold elections, but these are mandated primarily by the local assigned Council, Commune, or Soviet; and only those who own property and who have been granted a registered 'Voting Permit' are allowed to vote. The Union is unique for it's status as a refugee state- made up almost entirely of colonists, rebels, and escapees from Inquisition and Orion space, in particular. This does not mean the Union is free of conflict, however. The Union harbours a deep hatred of the Free Systems for it's disregard of social customs and any sense of 'law' or equality on a world-based level, and the Inquisition Syndicate has repeatedly tested it's borders, causing need for a large naval force, backed up primarily by the Autarchy, as well as many smaller powers and indipendent worlds in an area known commonly by locals as 'Core Space'; or, more accurately, 'Anarchy Space'. It directly borders the Tripartite, a state controlling the only approach towards the Trident Nebula through the Veil Expanse, a dark area of space with few known passages through known for it's lack of habitable stars and it's penchant for causing repeated misjumps during FTL travel; amongst other things. Similarly, the Union holds the approach towards the Inquisition Syndicate: One of the largest Human factions in the Remnant; and the strongest, next to perhaps the Orionians. As well, unlike the Autarchy, the Union does not allow slaves, and conflicts over the illegal Slave smuggling industry is frequent along the approach through Anarchy Space into Autarchy territory. The two work together, but are not allies, and rarely engage in formal trading. The many criminal syndicates liscenced by the Autarchy rarely enter into Union space, primarily due to the difficulty of corruption and business, and instead function mostly within FSA space and Anarchy Space, leaving the Union to a state of relative peace. A number of Listening posts, numbered and lettered according to location and deployment date, are located along the Syndicate border, along with frequent patrols, minefields, and FTL-disabling artificial gravity wells. The area near to the border has commonly been referred to as the 'No-Man's Land', and few- if any- ships are able to make it through. ![]() Above: A Union Frigate deploying fighters over a nearby inhabited planet. |
