Wearing a pair of grey and yellow shorts and the platinum white undershirt from my armour, I slide the door to my room open, blowing a puff of air to remove a strand of black hair from my face. I shrink back into my room as the solid footsteps of Captain Praesidium approached. After they passed for a bit, I walked barefoot out of my quarters. Nobody would ever guess I was a soldier on the Sparta, dressed like this. Maybe recon, not soldier.

I silently stalk Gryff, knowing he would eventually notice me. I liked the alien, even if he could act cold or distant when I made small talk with him. I understood that the captain of the Praesidium would not let himself see his lieutenant go to shreds over alcohol.

The large alien walked, not even the slightest sign that he had drunk till passing out only hours before. His cloak as always hung around him, unmoving and unwilling to interact with the air around him. This cloak was famous, in very small specialized circles.

He was tall, and often used that to his advantage. He toward over most people, but in the ship it often was a problem. Despite this, the cloak never seemed to move with the air, as though it had a mind of its own.

most of the halls on this ship where the wrong shape for the alien. He loved it. He loved the fact he had to work for each and every step. It challenged him.

I step into the main hall of the Praesidium, nearly colliding with Glickek. "Feeling better?" I asked, knowing that he had not had shore leave for six months and therefore was required to remain sober until then.

"Fit for duty." His voice was almost human, Vocal patterns far more stable than the night before.

Leaning over to peek out from behind Gryff, I observe the Praesidium's main hall, admiring it like always, never growing too familiar with it. My gaze moves to the alien in confusion when I heard his voice and saw that he was back to normal. I read a science article once about how different races processed ethanol differently, and how some went faster than others. He must be from a race whose system is superior in processing the chemical.

Nonetheless, I push the thought aside and take a step left and was standing in plain sight behind Gryff. Blinking idly, I space off, looking at some detail on the cloak.

I notice some movement to my side and glance at Kala, as Glickek dismisses himself to go rest and meditate during the journey. "Snuck onto the ship, eh, kid?" I ask teasingly, turning and crouching slightly. "Keep showing so much fascination in the workings of a gunboat and I might just have to transfer you onto our little ship."

I smile and latch onto his shirt, swinging him side to side, "Would you really?!" I laugh and walk around him to get a look at the way the halls were built.

"How is it that Glikcek can even move in here? And how do you even manage all the weaponry on a ship that can't support a 'man-per-gun' system?" I giggle a little more and turn around, hands behind my back. "Maybe you might even need someone of my stature on your ship, seeing how all of you spacefarers are so big!" I tilt my head to the side, the way I usually did.

I give a weak smile as I was swung, looking helplessly at the helmsman, before moving on. "It's certainly a challenge for him, but he never complains. As for the ship, this thing is an Alliance war machine. Everything runs from the bridge, where the helmsman controls the ship and the gunner manages, well, the guns, as well as assists during atmospheric flight. A lot of the targeting is automated, and the ship can target each weapon individually. As for your size, I'm sure our engineer could use a little help."

I smile sheepishly and look at the architecture of the ship's interior once more and begin to head back to my quarters, and maybe find proper clothing. Or just sleep. Before sctually setting off, I look back once more and ask, "What even is the mission? Nobody has told me anything, yet, and I kind of want to know what I'll be doing."

"Scion were detected heading for a weapons development facility. They disappeared shortly after and we were ordered to deploy, as we were nearest."
As I talk, I pull armour components out of my locker and begin assembling pieces.
