Galactic Rim, Andromeda

The crew is far from home. Here at the edge of a ship graveyard, the ANV Imorgon has dropped a beacon so that they can return to this point in order to make the return trip.

I step back and reach for my blade as the bulkhead opens.
"We're sorry for disabling your ship," I call out unapologetically, and in English.

Terrified soldier, apathetic leader, guard that wasn't guarding. Three in total. Aggression became an option again.

Devi's mind turned, clicked, then locked into the proper mindset. They where talking strange, but they where talking. Their language was disjointed, elongated, inefficient.

She walked past the leader, and turned to observe where her small ship had landed. It would be a huge upgrade over what she had arrived in. She mostly ignored the people standing around her, for as she walked the chained blades uncurled from her armor.

"Coward," she pointed at the one who had flinched away.

"Price? I'm not for sale." she gestured to the inside of the cabin. "he is."

"We aren't interested in doing business," I grunt. "We're an Ascendant warship on its way to Citadel. We'd be more than happy to help repair your ship, in return for your knowledge of the route."
I was unnerved by this woman. She spoke our tongue, heavy as the accent was, and something seemed off between the way Alpha Quadrant races negotiate and how she did the same. However, I couldn't help but feel intrigued by the ancient lifeboat signal inside. Our scientist probably felt it twofold.

"Wait a minute." I say, stepping forward, straightening my posture. "Who is he you are selling? Are you a slaver?" I ask curiously, certainly hoping she was not such. my hand remains still firmly planted on the hilt of my blade.

horrible thing

I simply lay on the floor, too weak to move myself after having slept for so long. I couldn't do anything. I simply stared upwards, my eyes still adjusting to the harsh visual sense known as light that I had so long been shackled from. I simply mumbled to myself, a little quieter than a whisper, the words of a song I'd heard as a child, as I lay on the cold metal floor of the vessel

Spare me your judgments and spare me your dreams
'Cause recently mine have been tearing my seams
I sit alone in this winter clarity which clouds my mind

I wasn't really sure why this came to me, out of everything I could have been doing. But I continued mumbling and humming the tune, disregarding the nearby voices, unable to understand them at the moment. How long had it been? A month? A year? A decade? A century? An Eon? I had no idea, but I continued to hum, unmoving, expressionless. Despite the blank face I had put on, I was terrified. For all I knew, my family was dead. All of my friends. Everyone I had known. Everything I had known, could have changed so much. To any sentient being, it was a horrible, awful feeling of hopelessness. But I hadn't the energy to feel hopeless, so I simply lay.

Alone in the wind and the rain you left me
It's getting dark darling, too dark to see
And I'm on my knees, and your faith in shreds, it seems...

She ignored the commander at first, his deal was less than ideal for her. He would need to be addressed quickly, so to not throw away the idea, but perhaps the salvage that she had pulled would not be useless to these people. Her ship held the data core, and that had been stolen.

She went with the easy answer first. "Lifepod is 500 span in age, man inside same. Survived our realm, similar to you." She chastised herself for standing in the wrong spot and shifted slightly over so that she could see all parties. Then further chastises herself for forgetting to turn on her vocoder. To late now.

On to the harder topic, she regarded the commander with mild apathy as she thought on how respond to him. It was maybe three seconds from her first remark to the topic change and second address. "Contradiction, no business then you barter? Poor deal besides," She postured, and rubutted the idea. "repairs and single meal for man. Map cost much more."

This was annoying, she should just challenge them to a duel, their best versus her. That would be fun at least. More productive too. The idea started to seep into her mind.

Devi smiled to herself, and shifted her feet again.

"We already have coordinates. Cessationist data from first war, the Tunnel Scouts. It's local knowledge we need. I'll take you up on the trade of repairs and a meal for the man."
I cross my arms. I would not be willing to haggle prices.

Devi thought, though only briefly, then accepted. It was a fair deal on both parties parts, and she would be able to judge their intelligence.

Maybe she would get to see more of their ship, at the very least she could judge their operational capacity, and at the very least she could see their security average if the either left her to wonder or took her to their dining facility.
Her suit was analyzing the environment judging where the best place to fight from would be.

"Deal." Her hand jutted out, confident. "Sealed rations, still closed."

This was turning out to be an interesting day.

At the declaration, I move past the woman into the disabled ship and immediately attempt to find the man she had been talking about. As I entered the dimmer lighting of the interior, I noted the helmet that the woman wore. It was completely sealed, possibly had several air filters as well. I regretted not being able to create a copy of my mask and helmet right away.
