"Lets go." Cali says, following the rest of her squad, keeping her eyes on the flanks.

You all make your way into the forest, rope trailing behind you. Nothing seems to be particularly out of the ordinary. Most of the flora seem to be relatively familiar, and there's also the occasional bird, or cervine footprint. At least you knew there were animals here, too. While exploring, you come across several plants that seem to be particularly strange... White flowers that emit a low humming noise, vines that coil around into almost unnaturally intricate patterns, and trees that wrap around one another in a spiral form, among other, similarly unusual specimens. It would be a rather comfortable and quaint place had you not been wearing winter clothing and watching for any sign of danger to shoot. In the back of your mind, you have the distinct feeling of being watched...

Heins notices his radio is not functioning and immediately stops walking. "SHTOP!" He exclaims as he makes his way to the group. "Radio ees down. Everyone check your radios." He says with more than mild concern as he draws a spare pack and slaps them into the device.

HEINS
You turn back after noticing your radio malfunctioning, trampling over a patch of unusual flowers that seem to follow you like eyes on your way to and from your previously stated destination. Upon opening the radio, it's evident that there were never any batteries in them at all... Something wasn't right, considering you distinctly remember putting in batteries yourself before you entered the Gate.

Looking on with concern at Heins, Kaisa stops to check her own radio. She fiddles with it and attempts to troubleshoot the problem, whether if it is the batteries or antenna or any magnetic current interference.

Goosebumps ran up her arms in combination with the distinct feeling of being watched. "At least we know there's sentient life." She murmured at the sight of animals. Kaisa crouches down to examine the plant life. Fiddling with electrical devices was more of Kaisa's thing, but it helped to get a bearing on the land they were in.

KAISA
As with Heins', the batteries in yours seem to have been removed as well. You look around at the nearby flora. Though initially more common plants were the majority, this area seemed to be filled with the strange species you'd seen as you traveled further into the wood.

Kaisa's eyebrows knit together before she reaches in her pack to grab batteries. She turns the radio over and plops the batteries inside. Wouldn't the radio live on reserve power even without batteries? She rises from her position on the ground to test the radio once more, after observing the foreign plants.

Your radio seems to be working, so there isn't any kind of interference apparent in the area.

"It seems to be working now." Kaisa observed to the rest of the group. She frowned down at the radio, wondering if she was just an idiot. She looked over at Heins. No way everybody forgot to put batteries in. Just a mystery of life — albeit, scientifically impossible. A poltergeist, perhaps?
