"We aren't sure about how it occurred either. A gate appeared in our world and we're here to investigate." Kaisa was still bewildered that she was talking to a sentient glowing blue suit of armour. She blinked to make sure she wasn't dreaming or anything— and everyone else seemed to acknowledge his presence. It really was as if he had come straight out of a fantasy novel, or out of the migration period. She cast her gaze towards Jakob and his scientists. "Yes, he's a scholar. Why would you not? You don't study..." she wasn't sure how to classify the fire monster. "The creatures of this world?" She watched them as they disappeared into the elemental's carcass, before turning to Leofric. Kaisa would have a lot of fun explaining the developments in science. "Leofric, help us look for other survivors." She remembered she had promised him protection against the Empire, and turned to Leofric again. "What else happened during the battle here? Why... were you fighting this thing?" "What can you tell me about the civilizations here, like the Empire? Any information helps." She hoped the knowledge about any information about the sentient life here would prevent the colonization of this world — as soon as she had seen that land, she could only imagine the suits picking it apart to exploit its resources. |

Cali exhales deeply. It was over. It had been a long time since she got that panicked in a combat situation. The last time she didn't really know what was happening. It was Pakistan, in 2013. Her squad was journeying across rough terrain, on foot. Small packs of Taliban would come in, try and snipe, catch them by surprise. Cali's squad kept on fighting them off, each time, losing a soul. It was only Cali and some other kid by the end. The kid, he disappeared, and Cali liked that. He probably needed time to process the whole thing. Cali thought that taking some time off wouldn't help at all. Just sticking to her work seemed like the only option to her. Never getting that respite took a toll on her. She walks down to where Kaisa and Winters were casually, by this hulk of armor. "Status, Valkepaa?" |

"Well I just thought..." She sighs and gathers her thoughts then walks over to the Captain, putting her gun across he shoulder. "I guess I'm just feeling useless." She says to herself. |

As Cali neared, Kaisa shifted her position to face Cali, who had approached and asked for a status update. She excused herself from Leofric for a second, and pulled Cali aside. Kaisa folded her arms over her chest-plate. "We're working on recovering survivors." Kaisa had wondered what had happened to Cali during the battle, but it wasn't Kaisa's place to ask right now. She couldn't help but wonder how fit Cali was for the position of leadership, yet Kaisa couldn't blame her either. Many soldiers had their PTSD to work through, and Kaisa had been bewildered at the start too. This wasn't your conventional situation. Nobody goes into a transdimensional portal (or, at least Kaisa theorized) in central park and expects a scene out of a fantasy novel. She side-eyed the hell out of Laquan. She doubted anything could penetrate the wall of money, but she could at least utilize damage control. "Laquan must be detained. Him and his vehicle is a source of reckless endangerment — I request he stay out of combat." Kaisa stopped herself before she could say her true thoughts on Laquan, that were truly out of line. "Jakob and his team are working on recovering samples from the..." Kaisa tried to remember what Leofric had referred to the creature as. "The elemental." Hopefully, that could give them an idea what they were dealing with. Glancing back to Leofric, she stated, "The survivors we've found; they're proving to be a valuable source of intelligence. It's like we've been teleported to... a fantasy novel, that's the best way I can describe it. He..." Kaisa decided she would be blunt. "He has no body. He doesn't recognize our armor or anything. A slave in the Empire's army, so we can likely expect more sentient hostiles." She walked back and turned to address Leofric once again. "Leofric Whitechapel; meet Staff Sergeant Bhatnagar." She just hoped Cali wasn't taken aback when Leofric took his helmet off. "Leofric, have you heard of any of our kind passing by?" Edited by insidioussocks, Saturday, 18. June 2016, 23:57.

KAISA Leofric gives another bow in greeting to the sergeant. "A pleasure to meet you, madame." he says, before responding to Kaisa. "I'm but a foot soldier, my friend. An enslaved one at that. I've heard nothing of anyone passing through this place at all. JAKOB You enter the corpse of the hulking beast. Steam fogs up the visor of your suit, but you continue pressing on. Your fellow researcher looks to you. "Temperature is rising. We're getting closer to whatever's producing this." ASH You leave to go and look for more survivors. The sword you picked up looks sick, combining just the right amount of fantasy bullshit and realism. You tread over various armored corpses, looking for any signs of movement among them. It's quite obvious that this entire area is nothing but corpses, and soldiers direct you to go and look further out into the field. You notice something. running towards Jakob's team at an inhuman speed. Edited by TheTraveler, Sunday, 19. June 2016, 12:04.

"Poor quality? My sword!? That's it my friend, I'll show you, Prawn Laquan Industries makes the best weapons!" I clap my hands twice and one the guards departs, coming back with a strange looking gun: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/e9/9d/1f/e99d1f191ca486824ab0f2f9670f11ee.jpg "Check this out, if I was born in 1453, leonardi decaprio would be jealous of me! This baby can fire .50 caliber rounds, bet you and your dungeon quest crew don't even know what that is do ya? It'll blow you! Away!" I shake the gun around haphazardly before firing it at a nearby tree. "Like that? I think we all know I'm the bigger man in town." Edited by Big King, Sunday, 19. June 2016, 14:01.

LAQUAN After haphazardly shaking around the heavy, 50 caliber handgun you now hold, you neglect to keep the safety on, misfiring it. The bullet ricochets off of your PREICIOUS PLEASURE PALACE, leaving a massive dent, before you hear a yelp from a certain suit of armor crashing to the ground. Whoops! Looks like someone's made a big mess. JAKOB You continue moving further and further into the beast. It has become unbearably hot, when you notice a faint glint through the steam. OTHERS While disregarding laquan's ramblings and continuing to converse with Leofric, you hear a gunshot go off as a bullet ricochets off the Laquan's car, piercing Leofric's right greave as he collapses to the floor. He yells out in surprise, rather than pain "Agh! Gods damned fool!" he exclaims, before looking back to the others. "I-I'm quite alright, 'tis but a scratch!" |

Jakob squints through his visor, his forehead starting to form beads of sweat, he turns to his peer, requesting another temperature reading as he spots the strange glint through the steamy fog. Before his subordinate has a chance to answer, he soldiers through the heatwave, trying to discern the source of the glint. |

The gunshot caught Kaisa off guard. Her eyes flit from Leofric writhing on the ground to Laquan. Kaisa attempts to disarm Laquan by grabbing his wrist, pointing the gun away from sentient beings or valuable objects, twisting Laquan's arm, and retrieving the gun from his hand, and clicking the safety back on and storing it cautiously. "You don't learn from even having your dick shot off, do you?" "Disarm Laquan's men and remove all personal weaponry from his detail." She barked. "Laquan and his security detail are hardly fit to carry weapons, let alone be in a battle situation." Kaisa inspects the suit of armour for the damage — not out of any sympathy, but rather out of concern that their new source of information would be felled. It really was just a scratch. |

Ash had found nothing to note, well... Aside from a mountain of corpses. As he looked out to the field Ash saw something bee-lining straight towards Jacobs men. Ash sprinted to Jacob's team as fast as he could with his boomstick at the ready. He wasn't gonna just stand there and watch while some innocent researchers got butchered.
