Antony stands on his post, pacing up and down on the starboard side of the ship. He isn't even 1 hour into his shift and he is already sick of it, desperately needing some coffee.

horrible thing

Leona is relaxing in her room, watching television and watching the view out of her Suite's window. She sighs, unhappy that her trip had to come to an end so quickly.

Mr. Ferris lays on one of the beach chairs on the top deck of the Freeway. He reads his magazine and sips his martini as the sun fades.

The sun quickly goes down, painting the sky in the hues of twilight and equally fast, night-time. The stars are in full display, nothing but the Freeway's lights disturbing their visibility. Those that stayed active during the day soon depart for their cabins and the Freeway's limited, younger passengers head for the upper decks, where the various bars were located. As the sun's light fade, so does visibility of the Bahama's, miles in the southwest.

Leona makes her way up towards the bow of the ship to view the night sky. She was rather unaccustomed to such a clear view of the stars, considering she lived in more urban areas for most of the time. She lays back on the nearest chair and watches the Bahamas fade into the distance. She grabs her phone from her pocket to see if she has any messages from friends or notifications about shitty mobile apps.

The sound of thunder reaches the ship from the east, sending vibrations through the ship's windows.

Leona

You check your phone, finding no new messages. The lack of a wifi signal and reception catch your eye, strange, there had been coverage for both all over the ship during the rest of the trip.

Antony looks out to the horizon, patrolling the ships's starboard side, strangely enough, he spots no flash prior to the deafening noise, probably just a trick of sound.

Leona stands up, rather confused. This was rather concerning to her, considering she couldn't communicate or browse her twitter feed. She goes and looks for the nearest staff member on the ship to question them about the issue.

Niel, woken from a slumber induced by jet-lag, slowly sits up in his bed and yawns. The sound, he figured, had simply been thunder. He glances towards the window, seeing a crack of sunlight between the curtains, and determines that the storm must be on the other side of the ship.
Lethargically moving to a seated position on the edge of the bed, Niel rubs his stubbly chin and reaches to the floor to open his suitcase, and begins fishing around inside for clothes.
