Reports recently came in that the Maw was spotted by a colonial fleet as they pushed farther into the Beta Quadrant. Communication with the Conglomerate has revealed that the Maw is taking a middle route towards the Galactic Core, staying equally between the Alliance (and other human factions) and Conglomerate space. Its purposes are unknown but there is no doubt that it is after one side or the other, if not both. With the Imorgon still MIA beyond galactic space, behind schedule for its arrival following the Innsbruck Experiment, and Void rifts beginning to open in deadspace, the two allied factions must take action without knowledge of the Scion. Plans have been drafted to construct the first modern Gate, linking the two factions (who occupy opposite sides of the Galaxy) with instantaneous travel across space and time, but no solid blueprint can be created without years of research, something they won't have if the Maw is bent on destroying them. Public media, traditionally skeptical of talks of Keepers and other more mystical things, has recently erupted in talk of the esoteric as outlying worlds have submitted video of sightings of the legendary Ancients, as well as a public address from Abasi, an Anubis Keeper, stating that there is indeed a living Requital, and they are journeying to locate and rekindle the Forge. Increased abundance of casting capability and reaperism among the Faithless have indicated that cross-breeding with Conglomerate species and exposure to rapid galactic expansion may be triggering an epigenetic shift in humanity, potentially marking the next step in the evolutionary process. Humanity itself, having split more than a millennium ago when Earth was broken during a war commonly referred to as the Desolation, seems to be intent on regrouping. The French Republic has entered a trade and research agreement with the Alliance, peace talks are underway with the reclusive Inquisition, and attempts at a 'first contact' with the New Byzantium are in the making. Races across the Conglomerate and Alliance are wondering if the Faithless are soon to begin building themselves a proper Faith in their species, and their shared background and culture. Human supremacists argue that war and division are fundamental aspects of their shared history, and that they are bound to be Faithless for the rest of eternity. Regardless, the appearance of the Maw has spurred all sects, all factions, all species to join together under sword and banner to preserve themselves from annihilation. The more theological speculate that the Maw has not come to destroy any race of this realm, but rather to expel the Void-spawn which have begun establishing strongholds in the remote depths of space. Others speculate that the Maw is more than capable of destroying all three of its potential opponents. Whatever the case, the time to act is now. Representatives from across the Galaxy have gathered here on Cascade to discuss their plan of destroying the Maw. ![]() HELPFUL LINKS: http://w11.zetaboards.com/RUSH_PROGRAM/forum/3857695/ http://w11.zetaboards.com/RUSH_PROGRAM/topic/9926887/1/ |
