A group of people, scattered across London, go about their daily lives, unknowing that soon they would all be embarking on an adventure together.

"A degree from Oxford looks good if yer' gonna' be an anthr'pologist or work in the parliament." I say. "If you had gone to th' the naval academy, or worked in the dockyards, or cooked food, you'd be of more use. On the bright side, you'll have more free time than us, most likely."

"We'll just be doing trading, but I have an old book called 'Boken av Løven', or 'The Book of the Lion', written by some 'Kobolt Sjøgrens' guy. Most of it is in Norwegian, which I can't read, but there're footnotes and journal entries from one 'Thomas Machowell'. He's some big banking bloke now, adventuring days behind him after discovering some big vault of wealth. I seem to have to only copy of his journey's documentation, plus whatever was in the original pages of the Book."

Christian most likely starts at the mention of his father's fame.

"From some ol' bookshop while I was lookin' for charts, why?" I ask, taken aback by his outburst.

I give him an odd look, then struggle to swallow some of the coffee. "Anyone for tea?" I ask.

I fill a kettle with water and set it on to boil. While it heats up, I trot out to check on the heading and altitude. The kettle begins to shriek after a minute or two.
