A group of people, scattered across London, go about their daily lives, unknowing that soon they would all be embarking on an adventure together.

I sit on the chart table in the bridge, and glance up as Chris enters. "Well?"

Gunveer enters the bridge, covered in grease from doing maintenance. 'What was that, I saw some bobbies harrasing you. Everything ok"? He asked, sitting down next to the captain.

(From page 13)

Stepping back to the Cabin to resume his work, Erik quickly looks up from the Controls at the Captain's inquiry.
"Yes, ve do, in fact... Somevhere.." he says, sorting through the stacks of maps before eventually finding one of the older ones of Egypt and Tunisia, spreading it across the table.
"Ah! Here it is. Zis zhould do nizely." Erik says, nodding his cap, and turning to the newcomer. "Ah, hello. I assume you are new?" Erik asks as he slides back into his chair at the Helm. As expected, no response. But it was no matter.
He resumes his study of the controls, pulling out several of his old Naval manuals in the process to refresh his memory. The control lights slowly flicker on as the engine heats up. "One... Two... Zree...Four... Yes, perfect." Erik smiles to himself as he prepares the Helm control for undocking and begins to repressurize the Main Balloon. Hearing the announcement, he switches to the Navigational control bank on the side and quickly begins reading the Barometer and various weather dials, plotting the course around the Coast of wales as the old radio system crackles to life with London docking noise. Remembering protocol, he puts his headset on and tunes to the frequency.

"London Docking Control, zis is the HMS Selkie, requesting permission of departure.. ID Number delta-delta-zeta-alpha-bravo..."
Noticing the Captain's absence, he slides back into the Helm seat and sets the controls to automatic as he takes the local weather readings on the Radio and Barometric suite.

But his day was about to be quite rudely interrupted.

His navigation complete and the weather report showing only slight storms off of Cardiff and the Welsh coast, he switches back into the Communications seat. Someone had to keep an eye on controls, after all. Tuning to a faint signal off of the Calais coastline, he begins to listen. But this signal isn't like others he's heard.
It's on Repeat.
A Distress Signal.
Tuning it more, he filters some of the static to make out the words.
"Aide, quelqu'un ... Fédération allemande ... Surprise ... S'il vous plaît aider, n'importe qui ..."

His eyes widen.
The vote has passed. Germany is at war. And France is the target.

Just then, the Barometer jumps wildly. Flash storm. Oh, perfect.
The Captain runs back in, taking the helm and pouring over a map of Europe. Erik resumes his position at Comms and Nav as he quickly takes a transcription of the Distress Signal before switching back to London Docking Control. Before he knew it, a man and several Police Officers were boarding the ship. Oh, great.

Thinking quickly, Erik swung down a back-hatch to the Quarterdeck below, avoiding the officers. Perhaps his past had finally caught up to him. he prayed silently as he pressed himself against the cold metal. Taking a tentative look outside, he notices them leaving and breathes a sigh of relief as he steps back up through the hatch.

"Zalary, you zay, Kapitän? Vell, I think I might have zomezing more... Worrying to sink about."
Slipping back into the Navigator's seat, he pulls up his transcription with the logged co-ordinates.
"I recieved a transmission from an unidentified French vessel off ze coast of Calais. He says... He says he began to come under fire from..."
Erik paused, then spoke. "German anti-aircraft fire... It zeems ze German vote to attack France has passed. Zis throws... more then a few wrenches into our plans."

Turning around to the Maps again, he spreads out a large one of France. Then he speaks again, looking up at Gryff and Gunveer as he speaks.

"I estimate ve have 6 days to cross France before it is fully taken by ze Army of ze Federation. Either zat, get shot down over France, or take a Detour Around Spain. Judging by the fact ve are Merchants, zat might not be an option if ve are to maintain a profit."

Sitting back down in his chair, he rests his head on his fist. Tonight was going to be a long night.

(Also yes this is Canon, I believe I mentioned that Germany was voting to attack France just earlier that day so it would make sense for Germany to attack once the bill passed)
