In mathematics, the derivative of a function is one of the two central concepts of calculus. (The other one is the antiderivative, the inverse of the derivative.)

do you know what the derivative is?
It's the slope of the tangent line, or, Instantaneous Rate of Change.
There's a high chance you'll need to use it depending on what career you go into.

It took a few chapters in the calc book, which I don't have home now, and I never take notes in that class >_<
