yessuh, I's is doin proofs

Direct proofs aren't so bad.

Oh yeah? Prove that prime numbers never end. GO!

Given: Any number whose multiples are only one and itself are prime numbers.
Prove: that prime numbers never end.

1: Any number whose multiples are only one and itself are prime numbers- given
2: There are an infinite amount of numbers
2a: There are an infinite amount of composite numbers
2b: There are an infinite amount of prime numbers
3: sadly, there is only one 0. D:

2a is alright. Even though you didn't prove that here, it can be proven easily.
2b, you just put that in there for no reason. GG >_>

yeah, I find that proof very flawed as well <_>

If there's an infinite amount of something in two varieties, then both varieties must be infinite.

your proof doesn't account for this.
What if all the numbers after a certain point are composite numbers (they're so big, how could they not have multiples other than 1?) and there are no more prime numbers. that would make a finite number of primes.

He's right, y'know.

@Furret: If you have a single X and an infinite number of Y's, you have an infinite number of X's? >_>

If you have an infinite number of the same machine, then you have an infinite number of each of its parts

But the point is, we don't know if the machine always has a certain part. (We don't know in the first place if primes are infinite, thus the need for a proof)
