The Man Who Cracked The World
|
Name: Zant Peregrine, the Lord Shadow Age: 20 Race: Hybrid (Elder Crow / Imperial Angel) Gender: Male Appearance: ![]() Personality: The surprisingly young warrior known as Lord Shadow or the Black Angel comes across as an exceedingly calm and cool person, almost cold and aloof through his shivery politeness without quite being so. He has been hardened by his experiences, despite his few years, and is haunted by some of the things he has been party to or put through, from the horrifying experiences of violating the forbidden Crow taboos, to becoming an Imperial Angel, and most importantly being divided from his beloved Xelenia and thrown into the hell of war. Despite the harsh life he has lived so far, Zant is known to be reckless, wild, confident, and simply alive during battle, and while amongst his friends and soldiers is far more relaxed and dryly humorous than normal, acting in many ways as a natural born and charismatic leader, leading some to believe that his icy exterior is but a mask put up for his own protection. To Xelenia, the person he cares for most in the world, he is warm and open to a fault, always supporting her in any way he can. However, his many faces are shrouded in the darkness so often attributed to this black-garbed soldier, and over the years Zant has become very good at hiding his true emotions and motivations. Abilities: Zant possesses all of the abilities available to his race, having mastered the uses of his companion bird Akira, who is his close and trusted friend, and the ancient and strange magic of his people. Further, he is exceptionally well trained and experienced in all forms of combat and war, with a body honed to preternatural levels in its abilities. Further, as the current member of the Elder Line in service to the royal family of the Imperial Republic, he has been initiated into the forbidden and taboo powers of the Crows, as such both separating and binding himself with Akira to dangerous levels, allowing Akira to truly act as his second body at all times, connected to him through senses and mind, and able to act as a medium for his various powers and magic; the most notable power of this connection is displayed when Akira releases a banshee scream and, with a burst of weird radiance, becomes a massive, black weapon glowing with orbs and runes of violent red, shape-shifting as Zant wishes throughout battle and channeling his full powers into deadly manifestations of destruction. The other side of his taboo knowledge has allowed Zant to take on the spirits of slain Crows in a sort of contract, binding them to him, sharing their memories, knowledge, and skills, as well as being able to manifest them in a number of different shapes and forms, from black spiritual birds, to a variety of armor and weapons similar in nature to that taken by his own Akira, or simply draw upon their essence to further enhance or modify his various abilities. Upon becoming an Imperial Angel, Zant's natural abilities, both physical and magical in nature, were significantly enhanced; however, his already unique nature hybridized itself with the great powers of an Imperial Angel in a new and deadly way, the enhanced form, armor, weapons, and various abilities and spells usable by an Imperial Angel in their "angel" form fusing themselves with the similar abilities granted to him through his contracted Crow spirits and his unique relationship with Akira, complimenting and enhancing one another, the end appearance granting him his title as the "Black Angel" of the Imperial Republic. In other abilities, Zant is noted to be an effective and charismatic leader, well-loved by his troops despite being ostracized by other true Imperial Angels, and is a capable strategist and tactician both on the ground and in the air. Weapons and Equipment: Zant normally carries no particular weapons or equipment, as the various abilities and weapons available to him through his taboo powers and status as an Imperial Angel are all he needs. However, he is known to normally dress in extremely hardy and well made clothing of various materials, always in black, designed to be as unencumbering as possible in combat, granting him maximum mobility, as well as bearing a black version of the signature cloak worn by other members of the royal guard. If he does carry any weapons, they are of the best Imperial make, generally of the sort wielded by those Imperial Angels not able to take on a unique "angel" form, and can be of almost any variety. Otherwise he can be considered to bear whatever sort of equipment is best suited to his current mission, whether that is guarding the Empress herself, or fighting on the front lines of some distant battlefield. Occupation: Knight-Champion of the Royal Family, Commander of the Cavalry, Captain of the Lindblum Alliance: The Imperial Republic History: Born to the Elder Line of the Crows, Zant was marked at birth with a destiny few would envy. He was raised by the Elder, the leader of the Crows since the time of the cataclysms, as well as his long-lived ancestor, between both the Crow homeland beneath Ivalice and the Imperial capital of Valar Albion above, for tradition demanded that he become the sworn sword and shield of the royal family, just as Xanatos Peregrine, now called the Elder, had been rescued by and sworn to Malfurion Zanarkand, who founded the royal family with Lilith Cervantes-Kaiisuga, in the past. He grew up alongside the only remaining member of that family, Xelenia, and has been fiercely loyal to and protective of her since childhood, seeing her in many ways as a little sister, and more. As Zant grew older, he was hardened by the harsh years, of trying to protect Xelenia from the machinations of the Senate and nobles, was made cold and dark by his ruthless training, by the taboo and forbidden secrets he learned, and finally by the terrible transformation into an Imperial Angel, the first of his line to undergo such a process. As unreadable and immovable as northern ice, Zant became a threat to those who wished to keep the young Crown Princess a puppet, and when they could not manage to kill him themselves they orchestrated his fall from grace amongst his fellows, and his deployment to the front lines of the Imperial wars, where a Knight-Champion could do his ward little good. For years Zant fought in every field and theatre of battle the Imperial Republic had to offer, earning the loyalty, respect, love, and fear of his fellows through his victories, becoming in many ways as reckless and wild as his ancestor Xanatos had been, while still retaining the cool dignity and honor of his station. He did not allow himself to die, or fail, for he promised himself that he would return to Xelenia, his life, and never fail to stand by her side again; and, even as her growing influence and blossoming age began to conjure in the surprisingly young Zant all manner of confused and chaotic feelings, his faith was rewarded; he was made commander of the Cavalry, and summoned back to his Empress once again... Additional Info: As the Knight-Champion of the Royal Family, and an Imperial Angel to boot, Zant is one of the absolute elites of the Imperial military, and can be considered a commander of all but the highest ranking independent forces of the Imperial Republic. In addition to this, the Lord Shadow has recently become the new commander of the Cavalry, a mobile brigade of elite Imperial soldiers tasked with patrolling the vast open reaches of the land, and captain of its main base, a heavily armed and armored cruiser-class airship named the Lindblum. Latest News: For quite some time now Zant has been a victim of the political machinations of the Senate and noble families. Due to being the knight-protector of Xelenia, as well as her friend and adviser since childhood, he has been sent to the front lines of every Imperial war front; he has led the vanguard of nearly every battle fought in the northeastern tundra recently, and was key in the capture of Nabradia, as well as the destruction of the now razed fifth city that once stood in Arias. With Xelenia's increasing influence, however, Zant's command was transfered to that of a unit known as the Cavalry, a mobile brigade of Imperial soldiers who patrol and guard the vast open areas of the Imperial Republic with a heavily armed and armored cruiser-class airship, the Lindblum, as their base, and has called for the temporary return of the unit to the capital of Valar Albion to celebrate their new commander, who also happens to serve as the Empress' Knight-Champion and advisor, after all... |
