Now his chewing and scarfing slowed.

I'm sorry I turned out to be such a disappointment.

Darryn reached over, just taking a sip of the drink... and then he swallowed the rest in two gulps. He really needed that.

Ashleigh shook her head slowly, chewing in an almost thoughtful manner.

" Never a disappointment. "

Heart breaking bastard, perhaps. Not disappointing though. she was coping as best she knew how. Loving was not something that happened too often to vampires, once. Let alone twice.

Darryn was just silent now, pushing the food around the plate. He seemed to have lost most of his appetite - which was HUGE if she remembered anything about this man. He was quietly staring at the plate. He didn't believe her.

Ashleigh watched him for a small while, shaking her head.

" You need your strength, eat."

"I have it. Would you like me to break something for you?"

Darryn glanced at the woman.

Ashleigh looked at him, sparing him a slight smile.

" You eat more then this, I know you well enough for that, please..."

Darryn just nodded at this. Okay. He obeyed, shoving more food into his mouth and swallowing. Soon, his portion was gone.

Ashleigh sighed again, and gave up, just seeming to give up on everything. the poor woman just wiped at the tears that fell now, choking back millions more as she forced herself to keep eating. She had to. If she didn't, she'd break down and go running off the edge of the planet.

Darryn was just absently playing with his fork. He was quiet for a while, not looking up at her during that period.

"I'd always pick you, you know. I'd do it again."

Despite what came of it. Despite the pain of waking up from that dream.

Ashleigh looked up at him, slowly moving and taking his hand, tugging him up with her. He would learn she was not such and unbreakable thing as their being together continued, for she wondered into the streets, seeming to be hurt and thrilled at the sight of everything, before venturing anything.

" When I was very young, i would sometimes be allowed to come here with my mother... those times, i was allowed to be me. To dream, to hope. ... I was allowed escape from the life she knew me to have later on."

She purred absently, recalling the running and playing she'd been permitted here.

Darryn just walked with her, listening. He spoke softly after a while.

"Do you remember before that? Do you remember before you became what you are, when you were just human?"

Ashleigh looked like she might blow away in the wind now as she nodded.

" Yes."

She purred faintly, looking to the starry skies above.

" Better life then, only worry was to die, now though..."

Now life presented her the offer of living in misery once she was forced to let go of Darryn next time.

Darryn reached to intertwine his fingers with hers. He seemed honestly interested in what she was talking about. After she fell silence, he prodded the air with another question.

"What did it feel like? To be human? What does the sun feel like?"

" their is no describing it..."

she purred gently, smiling a bit more.

" It is so vibrant, making all the colors pop under it's gracious touch. It warms the soul, not just the body, bringing out children, families, parents, dogs, smiles, good humors, laughter, friendship. It naturally aides in curing depression... it kisses over yours skin more intimately then a lover, and an caress you with warmth none could ever dream to compare to."

she purred, thinking about the days she'd enjoyed under the sunlight.

Darryn smiled ever so faintly, eyes wandering the darkness of the street. He looked up at the sky for a moment. He used to imagine what the sun looked like, or what the light from it might feel like.

"What color is it?"

People said that it was yellow. He liked to imagine that it was the color of a dandelion.
