Vynz cast her a glance after a minute or two of silence. "You look... absorbed." |

Suri jumped and looked to vynz, shrugging. " Just covering my bases, mentally, incase something goes out of plan." |

Vynz's eyebrow shot up at her jump, but his eyes turned back to in front of them. By this point they were on the mainland, driving along roads. "I have that effect on people." |

" What effect?" Suri asked, looking him over. |

Vynz didn't glance over this time, speaking offhandedly. "Startling." Granted that he often did it on purpose... "Paranoia." Not that it was uncalled for... |

" No... In this case you merely dragged me from some important thoughts.... Not so much paranoia as the simple fact I hate being caught off guard unless it's fun... that wouldn't be so fun." |

Vynz just smiled faintly. It was funny. There wasn't exactly a sign that said 'welcome to Germany', but suddenly they were there. The man eventually pulled the car over, looking around slowly. It actually hadn't changed much in the last century. His lips pressed together. This place held bitter memories. |

" well, where did she use to hang out?" Why not start at the start? " Or more accurately, the kind of place...?" |

Vynz gave grim smile. "I can only think of two places. Both would probably be more than unsavory to the likes of you, new girl." Some how or another, it didn't sound like an insult. It actually sounded like a compliment. The man cast a glance at her as he got out of the car, walking up the sidewalk and mounting old crumbling stairs. He didn't hesitate in pushing the doorbell. Yeah... Suri planned - Vynz just did. |

Suri looked after him, and merely followed, thinking to grab her backpack...... Who knew what could happen? A man eating worm could appear or something. |

Vynz glanced at her, waiting as footsteps could be heard on the other side. The woman that answered the door was probably about sixty or seventy. Granted, she looked good for her age, but she was still older. "Guten tag." Vynz nodded slightly. "Hello." The woman looked between the two of them. "What can I do for you?" Vynz hesitated for a split second. He hadn't thought that far ahead. He had been thinking that probably no one would even been home. However, he recovered quickly. "Do you know the history of your house?" The woman's eyes turned to Suri with scrutiny. "Who is asking?" |

Que suri? Suri was cute, and very innocent looking, if one didn't know her, and she was in a good mood, so as she grinned and pulled out a notepad and pen, she 'excitedly' explained she was a history major, and that build structure history was her most favorite thing ever, and all the old stories she heard from so many different people gave her life purpose ( Not to mention she sprinkled not a little bit of flattery in there about the house keepers themselves) .... Apparently Suri was convincing enough as the old woman let them in. (( That as much as I can do, no clue what to do with the woman >.>) |

Vynz followed her in there. He was playing along... more or less. He wasn't quite as enthusastic about it, but then again Vynz's personality was more brooding-ish anyhow. It was nothing out of the norm. "How did you acquire this house?" The woman lay tea down before both of them. "Oh, my mother bought it from a woman whose family had inherited the house after the slaughter, you know." She smiled brightly at Suri. "I can show you the basement, if you like? The owners have all tried to keep it looking the same... without the actual bodies of course, you know. Say, is my name going to be in your dissertation?" |

as she nodded excitedly, producing a camera from *seemingly* nowhere and following the woman, clearly 'ecstatic' about this historical find. |

The woman produced a key to a doorknob that was obviously newer than the door. It slid open with an almost theatrical creak, exposing a steep, rickety staircase to the dark basement below. The homeowner seemed not bothered by it and went first into the darkness, pulling two chains to turn on the two incandescent light bulbs attached to the ceiling. It was a rather small basement, the place lined with shelves full to the bursting with random, dusty stuff. The bare floors were stained with mystery stains. In the middle of the room was an old, elevated palette that one could easily imagine plenty of horrors about, and beyond that was a small wooden desk with writing things still left out. All this time, the woman had been expounding about the details of the place, apologizing that she hadn't come down here to dust recently, and telling them random bits of history related to the topic. Vynz actually paused at the top of the stairs. He frowned deeply. As was previously made obvious, he really didn't like being underground. The basement was not only underground, but it was like a picture straight from his mind. However, he walked down anyhow, forcing himself not to wrinkle his nose or cringe. The place smelled the same, faded by time, but he could still smell the blood and flesh and preservation fluids. As she prattled on, Vynz tuned it out to an annoying ambiance. He was walking along the walls, looking at the belongings that had been left behind. He reached out and dusted off a box every once in a while, though he didn't open them. However, he completely stopped when he came to one. He reached up and brushed more dust off of the front. "What is this box?" He barely noticed that he had interrupted her. Vynz was staring at the wooden box with an engraving on the front. It looked almost like a crude drawing. It was a circle with lines - a sun. But overlaying the sun was the profile of a bird with spread wings, perfectly angled into what seemed to be an anglo "V". The woman barely cast a glance at it. "Oh, that was actually something left by the woman my mother bought the house from. It's nothing important. The poor woman had the notion that someday an old..." Vynz did not exercise patience at the moment. It was enough not to snatch the thing off the shelf. "Was this woman's name Rosaline?" The woman hesitated for once, now. "Yes, but... Who told you that name?" Vynz turned, pointing to the box. "Ma'am, thank you for your hospitality, but this box belongs to me." "That's impossible. Rosie said that this box was to only be given to specific man, but he would probably be dead by now. I mean, look how long it is been. I would be willing to give it to his family if they came looking for it, but..." The woman stopped fumbling and frowned at him. "Son, I really don't appreciate you walking in here and trying to con an old woman. It is deplorable. The woman that left that said that it was only to be given to..." Vynz interrupted cooly once more. "Vynz. Except she probably called me Vynztotep-Ra." The woman's eyes bugged slightly. "You... But... How... You can't be him." Vynz gave her a flat look. "Why not?" "Because you don't look like a vampire." One could almost see the vessel in his forehead pop out as he frowned, looking at Suri now. It was a see-what-I-have-to-deal-with? look. |
