Vynz fell silent now. He clicked on the windshield wipers as it began to rain.

"That's the thing. I don't. I know there is a Mambo or a Houngan behind it. But I cannot think of a single one that I know personally, nonetheless have cause for a grudge. I don't know where Rosaline is or how finding her will help us. I'm just winging it entirely, here."

Suri nodded now, letting out a sigh.

" I thought I was the only one. That helps."

Vynz was silent for a minute, and when he spoke it was with a sigh in his voice.

"You thought I was keeping something from you." He shook his head, driving on.

"I wouldn't do something to endanger a life to which mine own is in debt."

Suri glanced to him, shrugging slightly.

" More like fishing for forgotten information. I was hoping there was something you'd forgotten."

Vynz didn't spare her a glance, still staring blankly through the rain.

"Forgotten things are difficult to remember. I would offer to let you scour my journal for whatever I might have forgotten, but it would probably teeter between disgusting you and embarrassing you. With peering into the mind of the foolish, lovestricken youngster I used to be."

suri shrugged slightly.

" I don't handle other people's love life too well. I never have time for one of my own... and those I've tried never work out...... At least you didn't pickle your last lover....."

Vynz shrugged now.

"That was why I didn't offer." He left it at that.

Suri shrugged, looking to her toes now, suddenly realizing that once she saved his life, he would go back to be a hermit, and she'd be all alone again. Yes, she was use to it, no, she didn't like it.

Vynz finally looked over at her after a couple minutes.

"Would it be taking too many you-know-what-I-am liberties and cross into Creeperville if I told you to stop it? You're putting me on edge with all of the 'tensed' signals you're sending out."

Suri glanced over at him, the look on her face between a pout and a glare.

" Sorry."

was all that came out though as she looked away again, unable to help the feeling.

Vynz sighed slightly and then pulled the car over.

"Tell you what. I'll buy you a whole bottle of cherries if you tell me what's eating you now."

suri looked over, smiling slightly, shaking her head.

" Sorry. I'll try harder not to think about it. I know better."

Vynz merely shook his head, looking out down the little road they had hopped on.

"I suppose you're hungry, though?" It was getting pretty late in the day.

Suri glanced to ehr stomach, shaking her head slowly.

" not really, kind of lost my interest in food for this moment, we're good to keep going."

Vynz gazed at her for a moment or two and then to the clock on the car. Apparently they were in a different time zone. He looked up to the sky.

"I will need to rest soon, just to point that out. I'm not an endless ball of energy." However, he turned on the blinker and, despite the fact that no on seemed to be on this road and despite the fact he KNEW that there was no one there, a force of habit made him glance over his shoulder before pulling back out onto the road and driving onward.
