The teenage years were the worst. It was a daily battle to keep your head on straight, and you had to slowly come to realize that the world was not that blissful place you knew it to be a few years ago. Your guardians pulled away from you and suddenly you were fending for yourself, fighting to keep your head above water. Yes, being a teenager was entirely sink or swim, fight or flight. Ajora had learned this the first time around, but that still didn't prepare her for round two. Ajora was a vampire. Vampire... the word still seemed surreal to her. Sometimes she even woke up and couldn't believe that any of it had happened, but then she would glance at the mirror, and there was the proof. See, had Ajora had only been a vampire for twenty years or so. That firmly put her out of vampire infancy, but as her mentor started to drift away, leaving Ajora to her own devices, that also catapulted her into her "teenage" years. What did that mean for the world? A moderately unstable woman was about to learn how wrong her perceptions had been... and, it was to be a hard lesson coming. Who knew what would happen? Especially when it came to leprechauns and trolls and banshees - oh my! ~~~ Malykai had no one to blame but himself. If he would have used his better judgment, then he wouldn't have be sitting on a gurney while a masked nurse blotted his face with saline. If his conscience hadn't gotten the better of him, Kai would not have been in the... well, it should probably be best referred to as a storage facility. The commercial basement was public access and contained mostly dusty old books, but there were other things down there as well. Not that it wasn't obvious from the itching rash across his nose and eyes. One of the stacks had collapsed, dropping a box on his head. That was what caused the white powder to explode everywhere. Subsequently he was confined to quarantine with the one other person who had been nearby. How long? Until they identified the mystery substance or until he died from anthrax, whichever happened first. As the nurse finished applying the calamine lotion to his skin, Kai looked over at the person, a woman, sitting on another gurney on the other side of the negatively pressurized room. "I'm hoping for smallpox over the pneumonic plague. How about you?" Hooray for dry humor. |

Ajora glanced to the curious man, looking to the windows, then back to the man, or more accurately, person, as she wasn't certain his age. He sincerely looked like a rather annoying and bothersome type of male. As if it weren't bad enough that she was in here, because of him, he was now attempting to make take with her like she cared. This certainly wasn't what she wanted to do, and there for was looking to the clouds about, sighing inwardly. " I really don't care." Yep, woot for honesty? |

Malykai nodded slowly, not really knowing what else to say about that. The man was kind of short, only about 5'11". His brown hair had once been stuck up in spikes, but now it was just sort of messed up from the washing of the powder. "Sorry..." That's all he could think of as he reached over to pick up an old Sports Illustrated. "My name is Malykai, by the way. Most people just call me Kai, though." Not that that was really a lot of people. This twenty-three year old didn't have many friends - not that he wasn't friendly. |

Ajora looked over, and shrugged slightly, looking back to her ceiling tile that had taken oh so much of her attention, thinking things over as she lay there, trying to debate on the pros and cons on remaining here. The largest con would be that they'd probably issue a medical breach until they discovered whatever they were covered in was harmless. She was, however, surprised that they'd not caught on to her near-dead heartbeat. Naturally, it was just a mimicked heart rate, as in normal circumstances she'd have none. |

Malykai frowned a little at the brush-off. Apparently it didn't matter that he was friendly. She wasn't. Well, fine, be that way then. He scooted down into bed a little, reading the magazine. The technician on duty was staring at the monitor screen, especially frustrated with Ajora's vitals. They had immediately figured out that she must have been an athelete, after all, why else would her blood pressure be so low and pulse so slow? Not to mention the fitness. However, this was no consolation for him, because every time he glanced at the monitor out of the corner of his eye, he nearly leapt for the defibrillator and slapped the huge red button. This was going to be a long night. Stupid lab... He wearily pressed the intercom and spoke. "Are we doing alright? Any numbness, pain, nauseousness, altered vision, or dizziness?" |

" All fine." Ajora mumbled, glaring at the man before her, and then returned to staring at the screen above where the skylight was. She wasn't about to let them keep her here for very long, and expect her to stay..... He was in for it. |

Kai glanced up, only to see that he was getting the death glare. He literally jumped. Yikes! What did I do?! Take numero... what were they at now? Kai: 0 Ajora: 3? "What's your name?" |

" Jane Doe." she informed him casually, looking to her fingers now, frowning and starting to file her nails. where had she gotten the file from? Did it matter? |

Malykai frowned at her. "Oh come on. It's not like I did this on purpose. How about just a first name?" |

Sighing, she looked him over, voice faint. " Ajora." she replied as she worked on her other hand. |

" Yes." She replied honestly, wondering if her toe nails looked anything like her finger nails. |

Kai got up to walk around, sighing. "Hey... Attendant... guy..." The nurse sighed. "I am an observational therapist with specialized training in the epidimiology of toxins. How may I help you?" Okay then... Apparently everyone was in a bad mood tonight. |

" Hey, dude who hasn't realized we're fine yet, I want out." Warning number two. If she told him again, she was ready to bust out. ... Maybe she'd drag joke boy along. |

The nurse pressed the button, sighing internally. "Sorry, ma'am. I can't do that. We haven't gotten the lab results back and therefore must keep you under close observation." Kai shuffled slightly. "...I just wanted one of those little white markers that write on glass..." |
