I'm seeing 10 different versions of this rom... is there a specific one to use? |

I downloaded it from emuparadise. ssriders is Sunset Riders (4 Players ver EAC) there. |

It might be advisable to use one of the 2-player roms actually; you dont need to change your control settings based on character. You just select them. Doesnt matter all that much to me though. So far I've tried two characters and they appear exactly the same as far as I can tell... |

The title should have the rom as ssriders (look after the semi colon in the title - I do try to list MAME roms or give a link) which was one of the 4 player ones - we can switch to a 2 if its prefered and as for characters you should find their gun angles different on non and powered up shots - i normally play with the shotgun guy as all his firepower is forward but others have a default '3 way' type shot which some people prefer |

79450 ssriders seems like the standard version of the ROM, but I'm happy to go along if people want to pick another version. I love the feel of Konami games from around this time. The peppy music, ridiculously bright color scheme, and constant orchestral hits...it goes along with other Konami arcade games like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and TwinBee Yahho! I don't think I ever cleared this one back in the day, even by quarter-feeding. Edited by Dumple, 12 Apr 2015, 10:14 PM.

I think this is really bloody good! Not a game I've really had much of a go at in the past. I've had about 10 goes this afternoon and have been playing as the cowboy with pink lipstick ![]() 89200 Died in the circus type thing with two blokes throwing fire at me.... many more goes coming up I think. |

Ugh, this is.... well, it'd be better if that stupid second level wasnt in there; I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate gimmick levels in games like this. They're usually boring/irritating. I may or may not put up a token score later, I keep getting bored and quitting partway through. Not my sort. Most likely I'll forget about it. |

The whole game feels rather gimmicky and style over substance, but hey, I like Metal Slug games, and this, while not of the same quality, is pretty enjoyable too. 106,340 |

The one where you're on the horse, with that train going by. Too slow/boring for my tastes, and it takes forever. With arcade games, I really prefer if they pick an idea, do that particular idea as well as possible, and STICK TO IT. Instead of trying to do like a pile of variations on it all in the same game. Just feels out of place, and odd by design; you've got this first level that demonstrates all of the different game mechanics and stuff, and then.... BAM, second level, ignore all that previous stuff, because hardly any of it is in there, here's a horse, you can only move back and forth and do this half-assed "jump", have fun, try not to die! Bah. |

The other thing I really dislike about the horse level is the variable difficulty level. If you have lost a life already the enemies come out in a specific pattern. If you have *not* there is a slightly different pattern designed to cost you a life - the only way to realize this is to get there a few times and see it happening (and the way out is just jumping and shooting at the right spot) |

Second level is insane, third one seems much easier - hopefully will have a decent score later today. Also, on a couple of occasions, no idea how, I seem to have acquired two extra lives in the first level. Did anyone else get that and is it a bug/cheat or is it a valid bonus? |

There are hidden extra lives in the game and its generous with the extra lives for score but 2 in the first level seems a little odd - can you reproduce it - and are you sure you've not just added more credits ? |

Did it a few times, it seems to be a legit bonus activated by using the first dynamite to kill one of the enemies but I'm not sure which one. Definitely not an extra coin. |

228330 Had a good run - I think I could 1cc this after another few more hours of practice. Some neat tidbits of info: The third level boss is surprisingly easy if you jump up onto the balcony and fire downward. There's an extra life hidden on the left cliff during the gondola ride on the Indian stage Edited by Dumple, 19 Apr 2015, 04:15 AM.

Sorry about that. You put extra text on your score line, and I didn't notice. The score has to be on a separate line on it's own, otherwise my software can't recognise it as your score. I've edited it, and I'll update the table now. |

Congratulations, Dumple! I could never get the timing right during the El Greco fight, despite watching the replays and knowing what to do. I liked it how Cormano gets his own animation after defeating that boss (and the Sombrero of Badassness +3), although given the game's high production values I also expected he'd speak with a different accent and wouldn't be adressed as gringo
