38,550 Thought I'd go for something a bit different with this nomination....hope the repetitive tune doesn't grate too much! Break masks for power ups...Press up+fire to use your special weapon (it's basically a Castlevania clone)! For emulation I use Dega. Pressing F12 in that will get you a screenshot, and the game shows your highest score on the title screen after Game Over.. Edited by deadpan666, 10 May 2015, 05:38 PM.

267,720 So, um...I ended up clearing this. It's pretty generous with life restores and extra lives. (Many are hidden, but usually in obvious dead-ends with walls >1 tile thick). And the bosses don't do huge amount of damage, so you can get hit often and still win a "war of attrition". There are several spots where you can get an extra life, die, then restart before the extra life, and repeat...so I think you could milk the game for a lot more points. I did get stuck on stage 5 (the labyrinth) for a while. This guide (although it's not very clear) helped find the right blocks to break: http://www.gamefaqs.com/sms/588099-master-of-darkness/faqs/44643 Edited by necronom, 12 May 2015, 09:38 PM.

Bah. Got Dega, but all I'm getting is a black screen when I try and do anything with it. Used to work, as we had Rastan on SMS and that loaded without problem. Hmmm.... And kudos to Dumps for the clear (and the GameWeek win). (And the Title win, at this rate!)

For emulator, I used Fusion (version 3.64), since I had it installed - it seemed to work for me, although your mileage may vary. I installed it to circle back and finally finish Phantasy Star IV last year So, if you're having trouble with Dega, then it might be worth trying Fusion. |

258,770 Yeah, this was pretty easy after all. Only the labyrinth took a while to figure out, but even the last boss wasn't exactly hard to deal with. |

I dont think I'm even going to do a token score this time. No more Sega emulators. I tried a couple, both junk, erased them, wont touch them again. I've never ONCE gotten a Sega emulator to work properly; in most cases, it doesnt function at all, and in others it's just very badly made. Definitely dont have the patience right now. Maybe next week. |

This is such a Castlevania knock-off. They checked off a lot of the boxes - spikes, bats, dogs, ax, boomerang, stairs, hidden items in breakable blocks. But it feels like Castlevania with a lot of the life force drained out of it, as if by...hmm...I don't know, some sort of spooky drainy thing. The music is dull and repetitive, pacing is slow, and many stages drag to a close with no boss or other climax. It's like going to a grocery store, and instead of the name-brand products, they have the store band knock-offs. If Castlevania were a cereal, this would be the Malt-o-meal economy-size thinly-disguised knock-off. Still, it's fun. This is my first clear of a Sega Master System game. Back in the day I played on a Sega Genesis (either renting the system, or playing at a friend's house), but never the SMS. And as in Castlevania, the *true* threat is not being stabbed, bitten, burned, or even knocked off a ledge by a bat...it's accidentally picking up the damn knife

Never got around to posting a score on this. Not so much a console fan. See new game is SNES...so might be skipping that too :/ |

I was up seeing a mate who just got back after 9 years in Australia so didn't get a chance to post another score.. Glad most people enjoyed the game though!
